Thought for the Day Fourth Edition

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

Love Tagore and Rand.

Speaking of odd quotes, this one popped up in my calendar software this morning:
"The day you take complete responsibility for yourself, the day you stop making any excuses, that's the day you start to the top." O. J. Simpson

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Well, I don't know if I'd go to those lengths (Ayn Rand), but I whole heartedly agree with the meaning, DP.

ima, good one. Even if I don't like the guy, a drop of wisdom from an odd source.
I think that's the day you become a real adult too!

Good morning all.

Monday Thought for the Day:

Visualize whirled peas.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

DP,
I just refuse to visualize whirled peas. How about this one?

Be honest Jules, you really did visualize peas whirling around didn't you???LOL

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

I love that one, and I DO visualize peas in a blender!
The only thing I can find to watch on TV has too much sax and violins.

Good one Jules!!

I really like this one Janet.

Good morning all.

Thought for the Day:

Some "bumper sticker wisdom" for today's 'Thought'. Seen on an old pick-up truck in Arizona.

Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They both need to be changed regularly....and often for the same reason.

Love it!!!

You've got to do your own growing, no matter how tall your grandfather was. Irish Proverb

Saw this on a car bumper yesterday:

"In a time of universal DECEIPT, telling the TRUTH is a revolutionary act."

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

That's a great one Mike. Maybe that's why Ron Paul is so regularly accused of being a "nut job". Couldn't have someone out there telling the truth!! It might ruin Congress' reputation.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

DP,
No, I did not visualize peas swirling, I was already to dizzy, I saw rows of baby food jars full of strained peas, and dirty diapers.
I really do have the flu, (thank you son), and my stomach was to queasy and still is to visualize the peas.
So many good ones! I love those bumper stickers.

Just wanted to say hi, 'cause I am still running a fever and don't have a good thought for the day.

I do have some advice. If you don't want to get this flu, don't touch your face. Wash hands often. Gargle with salt water, do saline washes of your nostrils. One of my friends told me that the salt water gargling and saline nose rinses shorten the duration. If a family member starts coughing, you should start gargling, etc. right away.

Please stay well, I wouldn't wish this on my least favorite person.

Thanks you all. I just went to the chiropractor, and boy oh boy, did I need my tune up! I'm going to keep warm, and drink lots of fluids, and send the boys to the grocery store.
Patience is not my long suit, but I'm getting better at it.
Great photo, ima. You captured it! You made me smile. It hurts too much to laugh, or I would have.
Stay well!

Keep well all and get better, whomever is sick!

A true friend laughs at your stories even when they're not so good, and sympathizes with your troubles even when they're not so bad.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my DG friends.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone from here, too. We are very thankful this year - still have my mom with us, plus all the other blessings, not the least of which are my friends at DG. We are staying home for our dinner - I will disguise the turkey so as not to upset the birds. LOL

Take care, Jules. I also read about the salt water - it seems to offer some protection from viruses if you use it at least once or twice a day, because the little bugs don't have time to get growing in your throat, etc. - they get washed away! Nothing is guaranteed but, like hand washing, it sure won't hurt. Keep well, everyone.

No "thought" for the past couple days...hmmmm...where's Randy?

Here's one: Why do they only put out Whitman's Samplers (candy) at Xmas? Where is it the rest of the year?

Internet connection is very sketchy for the past week at home. I don't get much time at work these days but I'm still thinking of you all!!!!!

Happy Hump Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Life is like a taxi. The meter just keeps a-ticking whether you are getting somewhere or just standing still.

JD, I am still wondering how that deep fried turkey turned out?
I think they store the boxes and only fill them at Christmas and Valentines' Day.

SW: The deep fried turkey was actually really good. Extremely moist and the skin was exceptional. Then the question was what to do with all the leftover oil !

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Mike;
We deep fried a turkey for the 4th year in a row. Love them!!

What we do take the leftover oil to a local cafe and they pour it into their grease recycling vat. I'm sure you can find one near you that'll let you do that.

They get paid for the recycled oil anyway so it's not a burden or cost for them.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Good idea, Randy. Thanks.
