Thought for the Day Fourth Edition

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I was offered a job as a consultant on a residential crew with a very large landscape group.
First, I did not want a day to day obligation and my first fear is I did not speak Spanish I would not be effective communicating with the crew. Everything I do is for free and just for fun. I am very talented but I just want to do it for free. If I am tired, I do not need to show up. If I went to work for the large landscaper, I would be working 10 hours a day and 6 days a week. I would be making mega bucks but right now I do not need or want that . My DH and I enjoy getting up when we want to and getting what we want for our breakfast drink. Mine is hot Chocolate. DH is coffee.
After an hour up we start moving toward our separate projects. Mine is not going to work from 6am to 3pm. Hopefully we will never need me to take this job....But if I do, I will enjoy it and kick everyone's butt. LOL.

sk, the best thing about consulting is that you can set your terms. I've been doing a little freelancing since I retired, and that's how I'm handling it. If they want you, they'll accommodate you.

doss, I'm taking the class thru Gavilan College. I started with some website design classes, which were great. I've been wanting to learn Spanish (I speak a wee bit, but not enough to have a conversation) and when I saw they had it online, I decided to alternate it with the web classes. All of the online classes I've taken are really well-designed. Classes are 6 weeks; lessons are released twice a week, and there's a quiz for each lesson & a final at the end of the last one. Each lesson has a discussion area where you can ask questions or answer other students' questions. The teacher or TA responds to each question within about 24 hours. You can download each lesson and keep it for future reference (which has been really handy with the website design material.) The flexibility of being able to work on it at my convenience & without having to GO someplace is fantastic! My fellow website design students were from all over the country, all walks of life, and registered through all kinds of different colleges. For the Spanish, an audio file for each vocabulary word lets you hear how it's supposed to be pronounced. Lots of great classes available!! http://gavilan.augusoft.net/index.cfm?fuseaction=1010

I've been out of town for a few days..(since the 11th) Arizona can be cold this time of year, depending on what part of it you're in. Went to east central AZ not too far from the New Mexico border. We're looking at some land in Navajo and Apache Counties. Found 20 acres with a well near Snowflake for 40 thousand dollars.

I certainly enjoyed catching up on the thread. You guys crack me up.

Hope you're all having a wonderful Sunday Morning. Good day to you.

Glad you are back DP. You were missed. The kitten, Buddy Holly you gave us cracks us up! He played with himself for 15 minutes attacking himself in the mirror. He is a blessing! : - )

Thanks for that Link ima. I never wanted to graduate from college, because I figured that the best thing about being alive was learning new things (feeding the "elephants child").

I always wanted to stay at home and tend my own garden, sleep late or get up early, feed the "elephants child". Be careful what you wish for, you may get it, at the cost of other things you value.

sk, I can't start the day properly without my hot chocolate either.

I love that they offer digital photography as one of the online classes. I'm thinking about taking that one....I could use some pointers...LOL!

Thanks imapigeon. I might just do that in the new year. I would also like to take a webdesign class.

LOL And cops are a little harder to concealed-carry. ;)

Thanks for the chuckle. I needed that.

Honey, I will be finished gardening in a minute.
How many times have you said that?

Mackinaw, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL Goes right along with, "Honey, can you help me with this? It will only take a minute. . ."

Good Thursday Morning to everyone!!

Thursday Thought for the Day:

You can't have everything....where would you put it?

(Zone 7a)

It would also make it hard for people to give you gifts, if you already had it all.

You always have one more minute. It's up to you if you want to use it.

I have 2 for today and they both have the same subject. I get so tired of people frowning and being mean when there's no good reason.

Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine he sees all day. Quoted in P.S. I Love You, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

If you don't have a smile, I'll give you one of mine. Author Unknown

I am so glad to be home. Where they don't want me to give them almost $12/day for the use of the internet at their Resort. We should have checked into Motel 6 and gotten it for free.
I missed you guys!

There, is that enough smiles for all of you?

Reminds me of a Peanuts poster my dad used to have up in his study. It was of Snoopy, and said, "Smile. It makes people wonder what you're up to."
