Thought for the Day Fourth Edition

Mackinaw, IL(Zone 5a)

Love that one, Marie!

DP, I think it's because people make off with the TP. And the paper towels. And anything else that isn't bolted down.

Here's my thought for the day, found in an interesting article about seed saving, and preparing to help plants migrate to more favorable areas if we do experience significant climate change. They are banking thousands of native seeds, based on this premise:

Aldo Leopold’s maxim: ‘The first rule of intelligent tinkering is to keep all the pieces.’

Made me laugh, as it reminded me of my brother taking things apart to see how they worked, and then losing the pieces. I, on the other hand, drew pictures of where all the pieces went, and laid them all out in order, in the hopes that I could reassemble them before Mom found out. LOL

Here's the article, if anyone is interested:

Good Morning All. Another sunshiny day!!! Yippee!!!

If you are still talking about what you did yesterday, you haven't done much today.

I think it's, "The grass may be greener on the other side of the fence; but, at least, you don't have to mow it."

Cat. I truly get the poem.
The rest of you, make me laugh, and make me think. Right now I am thinking.

Since aerodynamically it's impossible, why can bumblebee's fly?

Thank goodness for such impossibilities! The world be less wonderful without bumble bees and other improbable things. There would be less magic for us to share.

Kwanjin - I snorted out loud when I read that one. Nice!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Is there another word for synonym?

(Zone 7a)

Thanks, GardenSox. I did, too, when I found it. ^_^

A gentleman is a man who can play the accordion but doesn't.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Celia that was funny!!! I will have to remember that

(Zone 7a)

DesertPirate, I actually tried to figure out what the other word was.

Thanks, Marie. I keep giggling over some of these.

Dribbling football - ROFL. I always hated it when people told me I could do ANYthing I wanted to. What balderdash! And what a great way to make a kid feel inadequate when they tried something totally out of their league.

They say 'Grow where you're planted' but camellias don't grow in the desert.

Ooooh, skwinter, that is profound! I'll have to remind myself of that when I feel like quitting on a project!

Good one Kwanjin!
skwinter, my stepdad taught us that one. Only we were also taught that the job ain't done till the tools have been cleaned up and put away. : - )
BookerC, thank you for the laugh. It came at a good time!
wcgypsy, thanks for that quote. It hit home. : - )

Whilst stuck in the Dr's office I had to read something and much to my surprise I found these gems to share with you all. (Yes, I wrote them down on my handy dandy notepad).

My Latin is desperately rusty----translation, please?

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

If it not going to affect you 5 years from now, do not let it get you down.

SW, I spent most of yesterday cleaning my garden area of the garage and my laundry room because I have been tired when I was "finished" and did not clean or put away my tools. It only took me two hours, which was amazing. Now I am on my way to take cutting off my geraniums for rooting. A new thing I got into because of the coleus forum. Of course, my ADD, ADHD, OCC and everything else went way overboard on the cuttings. No one is surprised.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

sk, least of all me. I don't clean my tools unless they are paint brushes, or something like that. I don't clean my gardening tools after each use either because I work a bit then rest a bit. Then I forget what I was doing and go off on a tangent. : - )

ima, I like yours, when I think about it, it is so true. Blessed be!

Here's another one that meant a lot to me growing up (blame Heinlein).

Ad Astra!

Translation roughly is, To the Stars!

I believe it means, "What I want, I have." Let's see how rusty MY Latin is! LOL

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

Now that you tell me what they mean, those words do look familiar...LOL!

Longboat Key, FL

Right -- loosely, "Everything I desire I already have."

I am , deep down, a Bostonian.

I think you missed the first part -- or the last.

It is Per aspera ad astra. or, backwards: Ad astra per aspera

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Yup, flyboy, that would be me, getting things backwards again. Sigh. Thanks for the correction! : - )
I wish they still taught Latin when I went to school.

If wishes were wings, we'd all fly.

I just made it up to go with the others I know are out there somewhere . . .

I had 8 years of Latin & 8 years of French. Both are somewhat useful for crossword puzzles and that's about it. Now I'm taking an online Spanish class, as I think that could actually come in handy here in CA!

(Zone 7a)

Boy, my Latin IS rusty. I came close, though. ^_^ How about this.

Ego sum domi per meus amicitia. I am at home with my friends.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

My French got me about as far as "Je pense que vous etes fou" and "La plume de ma tante est sur la table". I do keep thinking about some classes in conversational French (as opposed to the constant conjugating of verbs that seemed to be the main thing I was taught years ago...lol) Why? Who knows.....
edited because I couldn't even remember that much!
