3rd Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop..Pt.2

Victoria Harbour, ON

my background paper isn't trimmed nor the corners punched, but wanted to show you the almost end result...

You can use various glue's...

I prefer this one from the $$$ store

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

the next step is to glue the scrapbooking christmas design sheet to your white card...

2 things you have to watch out for...

1. try to center so that you have same width on each side,
then same width on top/bottom

2. watch you don't put glue in the area that I punched out for
you otherwise you'll not be able to slide your card in....

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

You said there are lots of patterns for these. Where would I go to find them???

Victoria Harbour, ON

I purchase at the $$$ store (much cheaper than Michaels) this type of glue contraption..lol

You just pull towards you on the card and glue attaches to the surface...

Now comes the only tricky thing...

when gluing the card stock you made (angel) to the scrapbooking paper you have to hold the angel up, put in the top corners, make sure it's centered, don't drop the card yet onto the scrapbooking paper, I try to place the bottom into the corners and make sure it's centered then drop the card down..you wouldn't want the glue to grab and the card not be centered now would you...I'll post photo's of that later...

key in iris folding, that might give you some...I bought templates for about 20 of them...another pretty is the candle...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, this looks pretty easy, I will try mine in a bit.

Here are lots of sites, that have patterns for iris folding patterns.
Looks like you got us hooked on anohter craft! ^_^

Thank you so much Betty. That was really a lot of fun doing that on-line with you. You are a great Patient teacher. I did really enjoy doing it with you. I'm so looking forward to the other project. BIG PLUS --- Norm is impressed. He thinks the card is so pretty!! I'm happy.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Why should I be the only craft addict???

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you enjoyed...thought rather than send you all a Christmas card, I'd send one unmade...method to my madness isn't there????

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

You are truly a good friend to 1) send me Christmas Card and 2) teach me something new at the same time. Betty I've been thinking about the postage situation and you mailing all those kits. I don't think we are sending you enough money to cover your material cost plus postage. I'm going to be sending a bit more on to you...

Edited to add - I'm off to watch Dancing with the Stars. Talk later.

Don't Barb...we'll see how it goes across the border...

Actually friend who runs the post office and I talked tonight..am bringing in a couple of kits tomorrow just so she can tell me the fee from here, then I'll have an approx. idea of the cost across the border...

No flat boxes..they just won't fit in them..lol..

Hope the others enjoy as well...

Off to bed...just got a call from Marg, my friend from Mactier...there was good news and bad news...

Good news..NO cancer

Bad news...she's already enrolled 18 into the Iris Folding class..so I'd better get at it..she thinks there will be about 25..so that being the case 25 x 5 cards is 125 cards to make..lots of cutting..lol...

Thank God for office days..

Got some kits wrapped...lots more to go..
You know me and evenings, not at my best..figure if I go to bed now I just might wake up at 4 or 5 and wrap a few more..

Night everyone...

oooh maybe surprised tomorrow..few more might have cards to show me...wouldn't that be something...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Time to get ready for work...

Roswell, NM(Zone 6a)

I have a question I would like to make more of these how would I get a patteren, copy the angle with the number on the paper and/ or use the templeate I told ya'll I'm not real good at things like this, my hubby and kids tell me I think things to death. My husband tells everyone I had a deprived childhood, I was homeschooled before it was called that and my teachers just did the three R's and I didn't get to do much art stuff so I'm really art challenged, so be patient with me and my questions. I'm going to start on my card this morning before I can get out side and dr my colt thats cut, Have A Good Day Susan

Adorable...always has to be someone different..lol

Susan, you are NOT craft challenged..omg you tell that family of yours to shhhh...actually after the card and the craft project..well let us just show them..see if they can do better...

tell you what I do...

At Michaels you can purchase packages of card stock and envelopes at a reasonable price... 50 in a package or 25 in a package...

for the card piece that I sent you cut out, I simply cut a card in half and it made 2 inserts....

the first insert that you cut you can use and keep as your template..

I used an exactly knife to cut out the design..

You could photo copy the angel and make a few patterns so you don't end up without your copy...make sure you are on a surface that when you cut through the paper and cardboard stalk that you don't cut your family heirloom table...I use the sewing healing matt..sometimes you can purchase a small one at the $$$ store in the scrapbooking section or a cardboard might do....glue your angel pattern onto the cardstock (card you cut in half) and cut out the design..you'll end up with wings, "V" of body/ head and crown open like when I sent you it..keep this for you template for more cards...

You can use ribbon (make sure it's wide enough) even Christmas paper etc.

At 50% off I just bought at Michaels a large book call "Holiday Stock" 180 sheets..will do me for this year..lol..think the book was originally 29.99....it has thin paper within not the hard cardboard scrapbooking paper sold in single sheets...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thank you Betty for all the information. And thank you fellow crafters for all the websites. As a newbie to this, I do appreciate all your help....

Victoria Harbour, ON

After my trip to the Post Office, I have to rethink some of the projects..cut them down slightly..lol...

The lightest pkgs. is $11.85
The med. pkgs. range from $16.95 - $18.50
The large pkgs. range from $18.76 to $22.20 depending where they are being mailed to...lordy wood is heavy..lol...

I know that mailing from USA should be slightly cheaper so that's ok...

Because of all the attachments to #7 it's quite heavy..so sanding down and revamping tonight..lol...thank goodness I caught it before I packaged them all...

Not to worry!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty the next thing you'll see a picture of me doing is at the chiropractor. I never thought my bone spurs in my back would make me feel 90 on my birthday! It even hurts to move my legs, arms, fingers, toes, and neck. I'm going to go for a bit...

Oh thanks, there's nothing to it really. I'm going to send that one to my mom and maybe do more. I was going to go to Hobby Lobby at lunch to get decorations for Victorian Santa but the way I feel I'm going to try to get into a chiropractor instead. My regular one is in Benton and closed for a couple days while they move.

Oh!! BTW, I got my card Betty! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy Birthday Crissy....you look after yourself...you have to rest sooooo you can sit and do your santa...lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, how is this one? It was so easy to do. Thanks so much for the extra craft!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Have a chiropractor at 3pm! There's the highlight of this birthday LOL!! They can't all be on the weekend I suppose...They're squeezing me in so hopefully I'll be able to make it back to work by 4:30 so someone will be here to answer the phones without leaving someone else stranded. I hate this scheduling setup here

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy Birthday Crissy!!! Hope it's a good one and that you'll feel so much better after the chiro.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yikes, your health comes 1st though Crissy...don't you be worrying about work...we SHOULD only have birthday's on weekends..just think how young we'd be..much like leapyear...

Linda Kay...turned out wonderful..
Hoping you are all enjoying the cards...thought it would be fun...

Paul dropped in for 1/2 hr. this morning..omg..busy was the telephones, I've booked 3 appts in a row..1 1/2 hr. appts so he's here for the day...

He's thinking of opening several more offices in Ontario .. a word came out that struck me...'wouldn't necessarily have to answer telephones in a structured office' ok...would this mean the telephone system could be set up to ring in my HOME????? he's to busy to continue his brain storming BUT I sure put my 2cents worth..said I'm valued in speaking with the people, the compassion I show..rarely a call comes in that I don't make an appt. for...think today is a good day to say I'll not be in Friday..lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL I was going to use my birthday day today and not come in, but Ms. Cheerful made a dr appt not thinking about it. Everyone said happy bday to me this morning except her and she just told me that she canceled her dr appt (the one that made me work), so I don't think I'm coming back. She says "YOU better because it's Tuesday and I have choir!" She doesn't have the decency to sing happy birthday with the rest of the office but says her choir is more important than my health on my birthday when I would have taken it off anyway if it hadn't been for her?????

Roswell, NM(Zone 6a)

Crissy, I'll sing to you off key of course, Here's Me Sing :0 :) Don't let her get you down just hope she sings off key, hehe. Can you tell my meds are working and I feel much better. Hope you get to feeling better too. I now cant find where I put the tape so on to a great hunting adventure so I can get my card done before any one gets home. Eveyone Have A Good Day Susan

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh I couldn't imagine her singing, she sounds like death as it is, her voice is very very horse and manly. Her husband sings too and that wouldn't be much better, but he doesn't sound as manly as she does, and I'm not joking whatsoever.

Susan I'm so glad you're feeling better! Yay!! I will be after I get twisted and popped, will be in a better mood too.

I just learned something else, I'm allergic to her! Way way funny!! I sit here and sneeze all day long and as soon as I leave the office the sneezing stops. I thought it was something in the building as it is 50 years old, but she wasn't here yesterday and I didn't sneeze once. hhhmmmmm

Victoria Harbour, ON

So laughing Crissy...allergic to her..think I know someone I'm allergic to as well..lol do you think it's possible....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

It is possible, I'm allergic to her perfume, without a doubt. When I was younger I couldn't handle being close to any perfume or my throat would close.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol, portrait teacher is the same way...the day we go to class we have to watch that we don't use perfumed soap or it's hospital time for her...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yea, it can get bad. I don't use perfume and do use just cheap dial soap, don't know if that's not perfumed but does have a soapy smell to it.

Glenview, IL

HI....

Happy Birthday to You Crissy!!
...Sorry to hear your sick on this special day.
Ewww, mrs cheerful.

OK so I worked on my Angel.
Made copies and template masters first!
OH my gosh what a fun project.

ooops....
Now I know what to expect.

Judy, you'll have to do another..you missed a few steps..lol..but it's pretty all the same...

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

hhhmmm I need to rethink some things...like how do I keep missing this thread...I love crafts!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Then you are on the right thread here for sure..lol
always something crafty going on

Hanson, KY(Zone 6a)

Betty, about the postage if mine exceeds the amount you figured it should be... I'll happily pay any extra versus cutting it down to lighten the weight.
Just let me know and I can get it in the mail tomorrow.

Jane

Victoria Harbour, ON

Tks. Jane..let's wait and see what the overall outcome will be...
Last year it was material so not heavy duty postage...guess I could have chosen something tiny right? I'll know for next year should be do a 4th...lol
