Coffee Break #21 - World Series time!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No, I was not referring to the thumbnail voting choice, Lucy. I meant some people submitted them in that size.

I think I will do trees & shrubs next. Notice there is not a catagory for rocks.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Happy Birthday to your Dad, Victor!

I know what you mean about the photos in the contest, Victor. I don't know why anyone would enter something out of focus or thumbnail size. What's up with that? I have only voted in one category so far, the mushrooms, grass, etc. one. Lots of nice mushroom shots. I had a hard time choosing my favorites.

Yeah, what's up with there being not category for rocks?

They just don't know Bill to give him a great catagory.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

I agree past contests had better entries. Did anyone see the drunk guy, with his drunk dog, or was it just me, or should I not mention it? :-)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm halfway through the categories. I recognize a number of photographers just from their style.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Victor, my backup with Carbonite is now 20% done. I have about 62 GB of files to backup, and that doesn't include music files!

It takes a long time the first time.

Just finished Birds - some real nice ones. Very difficult to choose. My own preference is for shots in the wild - instead of near feeders. And in flight is even better.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

or birds in the hand :-) Loved it.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Karen--what is Carbonite? I need to seriously look into backing up some of my AV pics.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It's an online backup service that backs your stuff up automatically. Just go to their website.

Another gripe - people putting their names on the photos. Isn't it supposed to be anonymous??

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Happy Victor's Dad day!

I think tonight willbe high scoring. 8-6 Yanks

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Dave. I agree. Doubt either starter will make it past five innings.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How are you feeling, Dave? Back to work?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

About 3 hours yesterday and 6 today. I tire quickly,

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I'll be back to work tomorrow. 10 1/2 hours my first day back. I think I'll be okay, though. Still getting over the bronchitis, but it's not too bad.

Here is the link to the Carbonite website: http://www.carbonite.com/

Yeah, Victor, I didn't think you could put your name on the entries, either. I guess admin doesn't really watch for stuff like that.

Had fun?? today. First e-mail last the list of folders so I know what I am looking for--got it back with help on the phone from youngest DD who has a mac. As a result lost the e-mail messages. DD's solution, turn off computer/ turned back on & there everything was. whew! tough on older ladies. Even my typewriter was more compatable.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks--I'll take a look

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I have to agree about the photo contest. This year's entries were not as good as last year. Some of them just needed some cropping to make them more appealing, and possibly a winner. Makes judging easier though. So far, butterflies and domestics are giving me the toughest time.

Good luck on your return to work Karen. That's a long day for your first day back.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Yeah, it is a long day, but it's a typical Thursday for me. Fridays are like that, too. But then I have the weekend, in fact I have Monday off, too, and it's supposed to be good weather, so I'm hoping to get things done in the yard.

Just did scenic and perennials. Scenic, landscapes was REAL tough, some gorgeous shots in there(makes me want to go on vacation)

Anyone notice the shadow shot of the anole lizard in the insect category? Ok 1st off can I just say... a lizard is NOT an insect and then secondly the pic well....I'll let you tell me what ya'll think.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I saw that. I didn't do scenic yet. Did sunsets and have to say that after a while they all started looking the same!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'll start a new thread shortly.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yes, I sometimes had to look at description to see if it was a sunrise or sunset...lol

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Go Yanks! Howard will set the WS record for strikeouts tonight.

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

I agree, Victor. Some of those in-flight bird shots were amazing.

Now I have to go meditate for a while so I can be in the proper frame of mind to congratulate you guys when (gulp) the Yankees win it all tonight.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Aren't you nice!
Looking good through 5 innings.Have I mentioned how much Ilike Andy Pettitte?

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

The Yankees are still Pedro's daddy.

Hideki Matsui picked a good time to have a great game. Isn't he a free agent in about 2 more hours?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Yes. He just made it a better night!
Damon & Matsui are out of contract

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hard not to sign him after tonight!

I'm actually a Mets fan, sox.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

happy birthday Victor's Dad!!!

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Victor,

I remember kind of rooting for the Mets in the summer of 1986. They seemed like a fun team at the time and I wanted to see them do well. I don't recall rooting for them since then though. ^_^

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

50 days 1 hour and 29 mins to christmas

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Allison!

Yes, sox - long drought. Last time in the series was in 2000 - the Subway Series.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

The Bill Buckner year (1986). That was an amazing game6.
Joba's looking good

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Oops.We didn't know you were awake!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

How did the party go Allison?

I've been Christmas shopping for awhile, I'm usually done by Thanksgiving.

I keep saying "I can't believe it's November already" It really boggles the mind how fast time goes. My son's b-day is next week he'll be 7. Didn't I just have him???
