today we will be messing around with a web caster gun we picked up last year.. and haven't tried yet... hook this thing up to a air compressor ... and it's like a big glue gun that drips the glue on to the stream of air ... and makes cob webs.. should be fun!!!... still kind of windy now.. hoping it dies down later
Sounds neat Allison!
Beautiful day. Sunny, breezy and 56.
53 and sunny.
59°, sunny, lots of planting to do today.
We hit 60!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
83 but no humidity today, so we're enjoying having all the windows open. This morning it was perfect for hauling out all the big ceramic pots and setting up our dining patio. I planted 2 big pots of Jade Green Beans and one of Canary Climbers (8' vines with yellow flowers like bird feathers) that will climb up the white lattice trellis on the patio. It's a start!! Main weeding jobs are now done, so things aren't so scary back there.
Pixie - It's a good thing I'm not at your house.....that spaghetti and lasagna sound so good. I'm down 23 lbs as of today, so I'd better stay away from S. China!! LOL I'm not really suffering as much as it sounds.......pretty easy, actually - as long as I stay away from friends who are great cooks!
Wishing you all a very sunny day!
Louise
good for you louise. i need to lose more than a few myself.
great day - hiked the new mtn. trial twice today. one was straight up very steep for 1/2 mile to the top and about 100 ft incline. after going down another trail and up a different one heading down this steep one was a little hairy. great exercise though and brought home some stone to boot:)
rocks in your pockets? Warm enough to get the Thalia daffs planted. I hand them to DH & he plants.
Thanks, Bill! That hike sounds punishing! But if you brought back some boulders on your back while clawing hand over foot up the incline, then it was certainly worth it! LOL Speaking of the good friends who are way too good cooks, one just left.....not only had she babysat my orchids for me over the summer, but she baked us banana bread and oatmeal cookies to welcome us back. Oh Man! I don't mind when the people who can't cook are nice....no problem....but I know some REALLY good cooks! LOL Hank dived in the minute she left, so all's well that ends well!
What GREAT decorations, Allison! That web-caster looks like fun! I forgot how you really get into Halloween!!! Cool!
So much better decorating scheme than one in our area who does holiday decorating. There are pumpkin lights & orther thains, but also inflatables which I think are tacky.
Nice shot!
56°
BTW, I go to Central Park all the time. It is very safe and fun. The local schools all have their after-school running clubs meet in the park, kids play soccer, adults go strolling, walking their pets, etc. We have a lot of tourists in the park right now from the US and overseas, so it must be discount travel season for NY. I live in the city and in the country, so I have the best of both worlds. Autumn is the best time of the year in both.

Crime down considerably there. I don't know of many parks that need their own police precinct.
Everything is still really damp from the massive rain we had on Saturday. 60 and partly sunny
went on a hike myself - more of a rock hunt though :)
years ago i went to a corporate retreat at bear mtn. or very near there
nice!
Did you meet that bear on the hiking path?
He was enclosed.

I love the Central Park precinct! It is in a former stable. I had to get fingerprinted when I was adopting my son from overseas, so I popped into the precinct while I was to going for a walk and asked if they'd fingerprint us. They did, and were very nice, friendly and helpful and a few even asked us how to go about overseas adoption.
Sunny and 55 in NYC, but supposedly it will rain tomorrow.
I saw a lot of wooly bear caterpillars out and about on Eastern Long Island yesterday. The lore used to be that you coud foretell how severe winter would be based on how much of the caterpillar was black and how much of it was rust colored. But it turns out the amount of black color just tells you how mature the caterpillar is!
Cool, Hampton. My brother's BIL used to work in that precinct. Cushy assignment. I love the park and spent many days there.
Love CP! My sister and I used to hop the train and go down there just to see the Merry Go Round. Considering how big it is , having its own precint is not inconceivable. Plus all the events that take place there need special units. I miss it!
The temps here are lower 50's.
CP? Very nice, used to play with my remote controlled submarine where the model sailboats are, (wished I had torpedoes lol), near the 'Alice in Wonderland' display.
53° partly cloudy
In the 50s today, but did get some peony foliage cut.
They are a pain and use lots of electricity.
yeah that one is a pain too.. we have to tie it off in places it wasn't designed for... then the snow gets on it.. gotta knock it off or it won't stand.. freezing rain is always fun... have to keep it on all night when that happens.. all for the love of Jack!!
I have one small Pooh for Christmas. One year we got snow and ice. Did not recover him until late January!
it was probably the same year it took me forever to get the poor lighted deer that was vinyl.. it fell over and was first buried in the snow and then freezing rain.. I tried chipping that poor baby out forever ... last year we had the plow stick some lights in 3 foot of snow... yeah sure we saw that one out in Feb.. and only after i chipped it out for an hour
Probably was. A few times there has been a storm after I put all the lights on and found a faint orange glow under the snow!
