Crazy roller-coaster weather. 70 today and tomorrow and then cold for the weekend.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 55
OMG, look how close the buildings are to each other!! I get claustrophobic just looking at it!!!! Excuse my naiveness, but is that Central Park ? What ever those tree's are......thats where you'd find me panicing, um I mean hiding! lol
you mainer!
was 42 here this morning - and going up into the 60's - may go for a hike this afternoon
Yes, im a Mainer, thru and thru! LOL
not a fan of NYC myself - boy that probably is a surprise. have been there too many times to count, very crowded, noisy, expensive, dirty, dangerous, and its filled with people with weird accents both local and international.
Yes - Central Park. NYC is not dangerous, Bill - not these days. You're stuck in the 70's! Much cleaner than it used to be too.
LoL! Boy talk about wimpy! - and they called us wimpy for not camping! lol!
54°, Cloudy. ☺
I'm not a fan of the city either... I like Dallas or Pittsburgh much better. The best time I ever went was one year on New Year's Day...There was NO ONE in the city, I guess everyone was hungover from the night before. It was great not bumping into anyone. Got ripped off on one of the carriage rides, though.
High of 72, 43 right now
I'll tackle the animals here in the woods any day over the 'animals' you have in the city!! lol
I also don't think I would be able to breath.......looks like alot of pollution in that there air!!
Victor, did you find the air different when you came to Maine last summer? I noticed a BIG difference when I went to Florida, it actually felt heavier.
that would be the humidity
I guess it is all relative going from where is was to "only" dangerous (in my opinion) is not safe to me and it was not the 70's it was the 80's thorugh early 2000. I can take care of myself, still tough to be out a night with the feeling bad things could happen at any time.
68, sunny with a light breeze. DH is painting the outside window trim.
I'm with you Celeste! That pic triggered my claustrophobic tendencies...big time!
Geez! What a bunch of wusses! I worked in Harlem for 17 years. Never had a single incident. There has never been a mass shooting in a school in NYC - that always seems to happen in the suburban and rural areas. Statistically, NYC is one of the safest places in the world.
That photo is late Aug - WC is right - it's hazy humidity. NY is not like LA.
if you add up the single and double homicides it out numbers the mass murders.
Hi Y'all!! We made it and all is well here in sunny [hot] Florida! Thanks for all your wishes for a safe trip. We had to take a different route because of the snow in Scranton. That corridor to Baltimore is not fun! Too many cars and way too much heavy rain! But we made it to Staunton, VA after 12 tough hours of driving. We arrived at our home here yesterday afternoon. The weather was cool and lovely yesterday, but today it started heating up, so the a/c is making an effort to cool us down. Our back yard is quite a jungle! Here's one shot of the "before" clean-up and weeding, so you can hopefully see a difference once we've tamed the jungle out there! Once I have some decent shots to share with you, I'll start a FL gardens thread. Until then......stay well and warm up there!!!
glad you made it safe and sound - good luck with the jungle!!
For those of us that tend to wear Red Sox hats everywhere we go, NYC doesn't seem all that safe.
Yes, i've heard some horrid tales.
LA is pretty bad Victor, 'gang city'... so is our nation's capital - Washington, DC, and Miami at night is no place for the faint of heart either! - they make NYC look like a walk in the park! (lol!)
71.7°
Edit:
* This brings to mind the first day I worked at the border crossing in So. California. I didn’t bring lunch so I asked the guys where I could find a McDonald's close-by. They pointed to a heavy iron door with a digital lock, one of the guys let me out and there I was in an instant – MEXICO!! - and not the ‘rich’ part of Mexico either! I had no problem getting back in thru the door when I knocked again to get back in.
– But from that day on, I brought my lunch! Lol!

Welcome back, Louise! Glad you had a safe trip.
NYC has had four to five decade lows in homicides for the past ten years. Chicago, LA, DC, Detroit, New Orleans and others are much much worse. Not to mention other countries.
Hi Louise!! Glad to see you made it safely. It was beautiful here today, did you send it? Thank you if you did!!!! ^_^
Check this out. NYC is the safest!

Cool! We got less crime than Mass. lol!
Thank you, Bill, Victor and Celeste! And yes, Celeste, I sent you the prettiest day I could find for you! Victor - I agree with you that The City (lol) is probably a whole lot safer than it is here now. The recession has hit this area so hard that break-ins and home invasions are becoming commonplace. Ugh....hate having to keep our alarm on all the time. I hope it turns around soon down here and everywhere.
More pretty weather coming your way, if I can make it happen!
Louise
What's the temp, Louise?
Yes - NYC is safer than Boston.
You guys wonder why I stay home?? LOL
77 degrees with 57% humidity right now, Victor. Mornings are nice for walking, thank goodness!
glad you got there ok Louise... boy you have a lot of work to do
Glad you made it down there safe and sound, Louise. Looks like you got a lot of weeding to do....no one to take care of it during the summer for you???
46 now... going up to 72.. woo hoo!!
46 and cloudy, Warm later, but I want sun!
52°, cloudy & humid
Another NYC lover here. Some may find this surprising, but the people of NYC are the friendliest to be found.
Looks to be a nice day here!
Yes they are.
Glad you had a good trip, Louise. That's some jungle!
Rain coming on Sat. & colder air tomorrow--have to hurry on garden work.
I love NY and Boston.... though they are very different... I've lived in Maine all my life, near the biggest city in the state..... FYI... we don't all live in the boonies! Though there is nothing wrong with that! lol! Cold, dreary day today.. nicer for tomorrow I guess.
I don't mind Boston, as long as I don't have to drive! lol
