Guess it is inevitable, threads get too long and winter rears its' chilly head. Time to think in terms of staying warm and winterizing the garden....guess we will soon have days of gray.....
FROST ON THE GYPSIES, Hello Fall
Been thinking about the sights and smells and things in general that say fall. For me, it is cool crisp air with a hint of wood smoke and pine wafting through it, and big fat chrysanthemums adding color and green spicey smell to the garden.
For me its burning leaves, looks like a forest fire around this block some days.
Good morning everyone! Welina me ke aloha!
Do the trees still change color in the Fall back there?
Love the picture Moon reminds me of long drives on country roads looking at the beautiful sceanry that reminds me of a power greater than us.
Catch you all later.
Little guy fell asleep watching spongebob so I better take advatage of it.
His dad gets off at noon so maybe he will be here by time he wakes up.
Need to get in attic his dad wants the devil costume I made him when he was about 4 ot 5. (He's 27 now)
Going to take some digging.
And sun is shining need to get outside.
Have a nice day everyone.
yes Dave they still change color in the fall, before they make a mess everywhere
Bye JJ have a good weekend and catch the rest of you later got to get busy too.
Any photos Trina?
Yes Dave they do. Red, brown, yellow and orange. Very pretty until they hit the ground.
Actually this year is wierd because alot of the trees are still full of leaves.
Nobody seems to use them for mulch here either. They all burn them.
My trees are still small or in the case of the weeping cherry dead so the leaves I get are blown into my yard.
Things change, Dave, but Nature tends to be a constant. The trees are all sporting their fall finery, especially up north...hasn't started quite yet down here....amazing how excited folks get over leaves dying....grin. Up north, the Leaf Peeper tours are starting and will be going on til beginning of November or so.
Thanks Flowers. I agree that sometimes just looking around at the earth's majesty can be a spiritually up-lifting thing.
JJs, my neighbors don't get to burn leaves....I snitch them for my compost pile...lol
I will take the camera out with me today for ya... nice day for a walk, not too cold not too hot....better plug the camera in then so it can charge while I am eating my lunch that the kids are all snearing thier noses at
Everybody have a lovely day...catch up to ya later...hiho hiho out to the garden I go....grin
Bet Kassy will show us some pretty fall follage. Have a Great Weekend ALL
Making compost with the leaves sounds good. Does anyone use them to make leaf-mould for growing ferns and other plants?
I do for ferns. but I only have one fern left, a japanese painted fern, it's in the house. I dug it up when the neighbors dog kept destroying things in my garden,
Thanks JJ, that's pretty cool!
yeah but It could have been warmer JJ...Gonna go dig the first hole...Austin bolted on me, so I gotta do it by myself...back in a few
I guess the trees dropping their leaves is a way for the forest to lay down a blanket to protect the earth for Winter.
You're very welcome Dave. But they do not compare to your pictures.
Moon I may get some of the neighbors leaves this year, but going to let them rake them in a pile
first!! hehe
Last one and I have to go get something done.
Ahuihou, Dave and everyone.
Moon, the daylilies are growing in the box!!!!
Is that Louisiana, Jean?
I believe that is a shot from her yard Dave, but not positive
Hello? am I all alone again?
Hi Trina, you're never alone on the internet!
lol....true uhg....i hate arguing with people who don't know the subject in the first place
Hey all,we are having very cool weather today. Feels good for a change. No rain either thank goodness.
hey Dixie
What subject is that Trina?
Hi Dixie! One knows it is Fall in Hawai'i, because it rains, and rains, and rains.
Chocolate has decided I guess that I am definately her owner...she just hissed at one of the kids for getting too close to me....it was kinda funny
Gosh, dont mention rain. Were still drying out. How goes it Dave?
Guns, BF's friend stopped by and said something about a gun that was way off, so I politely corrected him and then we started arguing, the whole I'm a girl so I don't know anything routine, so I brought it up online and showed him I was right!
And hows our little Trina today?
Rains better than snow anyday in my book
Gun totting today dixie
