Best/Worse/What did I learn today...visit with friends #123

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Starting a new thread on this rainy rainy day! Our high for the day was, yes I said was, 70 at 6:00am, the longer the day goes on the colder it's going to be, and by 5pm supposed to be in the mid 50's.

Quick drop in, Susan, just getting ready to go outside and work for the day, quite cool here as well, looking for gloves..help is on their way so best I get a move on...lol...

Waving to you all...

Lyndonville, NY

Dropping in for a quick hello! Miss you all ...life has just gotten out of hand up here.

Betty, i love your project ideas. You are so talented with those. Finding it hard to stay in between the lines painting my fingernails of late!

Bev, how are you and Scotty? Miss you! Hugs...

It really is a whirlwind up here. Shannon set to have another knee surgery....3 days before Christmas. My oldest is quite sick, and come Tuesday may very well be in the hospital. They are giving her the weekend on oral antibiotics....3rd round...for kidney infection. And this is her 1st year Anniversary weekend.

Lets see what else, the chimney we had repaired last Oct. and rebuilt...with new liner, cap and all.....destroyed. The cap flew off....allowing water in...which rusted and it destroyed the furnace itself! Need new fan & other parts. So, no heat.

Missingyou all.....love reading and catching up!

Debbie

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Boy Debbie, if it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any at all lately. I sure hope things straighten themselves out for you and that ill kids get well soon. Dress in layers!!!!!
I'm not ready for this cold weather either!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Morning. sending prayers for you and your loved ones Debbie, never fails, hard to deal with when everything comes at once...you have to be asking 'why me Lord/why me?' am sure there is a reason that fits in with His master plan...

Trisha, the colors of your tree are spectacular..much the same around here..so much beauty..

Barb cold here, infact calling for some whte stuff by mid week, not amounting to much I hope but still, quite early to start..

This morning I'm a happy camper as I start my day (almost lol) had a bunch over, everything is now put away for the winter, back verandah now closed in ..no worries..for the part I'm not so happy about, ready to start costumes, decided to re-thread this new serger, they say it's easy, color co-ordinated but NOT so easy..think for now I'll stick with my regular machine till I have time to play..

Thanksgiving dinner today so much to do, gab late...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy, Happy, Happy Thanksgiving to you dear Betty. May you and your family all be blessed..... Hugs, Barb

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, I envy you your serger! I want one soooo bad, but I can't afford one! Don't know if I'd have enough sense to use one, if I had one!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving, Betty

Good luck on threading your serger. I've never had one, so don't know how lol

Take care everyone - it's after midnight here, so heading out.

~Susan~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

After you thread the serger, raise your needle, take a small ruler, and drag all the threads from front to back, under the needle, that seems to work for me.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning!

Betty hope you had a glorious Thanksgiving!

I've never heard of a serger, let alone how to thread one LOL

We're getting ready to go into a staff meeting, but I'll say real quick that I got home Friday and the power was out so I went to the store then took myself to JJ's Truck Stop for dinner, it's just down the road from my house so it's close.

Thank you all...has been a wonderful Thanksgiving..much this year to give 'thanks' for...today I'm winding down..always nice to spend time with family and friends!

Got my requests in order for 'halloween costumes' lol..with going to Frankenmuth next weekend it means I'll have to work on them during my evenings..ran out of yardage for Braedons so another trip to fabricland tomorrow night...won't take long to finish the pants..

Wondering why my fingers/feet are numb, turned down the furnace last night and temperature has dropped..brrrr it's cold..time for lunch .. more family coming later so maybe I've 2 more hours to sew...

As for the serger..got 3 spools done..just can't seem to get the last loop, it's all color co-ordinated markers but I'm doing something wrong..will drop into the sewing center at lunch tomorrow and perhaps they can show me..seeing is far better than reading it on the machine and booklet...would have come in handy though today...talk about a mess..glad the girls aren't coming on Wednesday, won't have to clean up! lol

It's Columbus Day for you all isn't it? Happy Holiday everyone..

Off I go to turn that heat on...I'm chilled to the bone...

Please show us the costunes when they are finished?
Stay warm.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty, the only people off are the banks and Feds. If you go to school, work anywhere other than for a Federal Agency or a bank, we're at work today.

Looks like you're having a blast with those costumes! I bought mine and Dave's yesterday, Mickey and Minnie Mouse! LOL

Alright, I'm still in a bad mood and need to get out of it, I have phone calls to make and things to do! LOL

Lyndonville, NY

Our kids are out of school. Just banks and Post office, city offices/gov. closed.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Kids are out of school here...state and federal have the day off...everyone else works.........

Glad you had a good Holiday Betty.

We just got word that a very dear friend who has been living in Arizona passed away the end of September. He had been in very bad health and in a great deal of pain the past several years....he will be missed but along with his family we are glad his days of pain are over with. He was a Rhodes Scholar and a Professor at the Evergreen State College here....the memorial will be held out at the State Park the first week in November and I expect there will be a very large crowd in attendance.

Expecting rain and high winds by tomorrow so I need to get the last of the outdoor stuff dealt with.

Have a good afternoon all!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I work for the State and all of the State offices are open here, as well as all of the city offices. I forgot about the PO LOL!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy anniversary 'Steve and Judy' - omg Judy, you are one of a kind, don't think I've ever seen anyone getting so excited over compost...lol..sorry I missed your call the other night..was quite late by the time I got home...

Almost finished Braedon's costume..a couple of things to purchase tonight and it will be done, then I can move on to the Vampire Chicken (whatever he may be)!

Played with the serger yesterday and finally put it aside...it's in my car waiting for my lunch hour to take it back to Janome dealer the next block over...perhaps they can show me thread #4 threading...

Pouring rain, will it ever stop?

Paul's on vacation, quiet week so brought in some Christmas project painting...going to take things out and get started...

How about you all, what's on your agenda for today...
Hope you've sunshine in your neck of the woods...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

80% chance of rain today and Thurs. So far it's 59* and cloudy. I have my heat on, but it's not coming on, think I'll turn it up!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Vampire Chicken, love it!!!

Glad you're having a quiet week Betty! My weeks won't get quieter for a while. Well, they will for about 2 or 3 weeks then back to the races!

Well I'm in a better mood today, what a day yesterday. After my day here at work I I went to Wal Mart. I was heading over the interstate to go home and the cars were backed up as far as the eye could see, and I couldn't see any flashing cop lights at all. With the back full of groceries and it looking like the freeway was closed I decided to take back roads home, even with the old man going 35 in a 55 in front of the big rig in front of me, who couldn't pass when we got passing lanes because he just didn't have enough room, on the curvy in parts two lane rd. it took me just 10 minutes longer than normal, without slow poke in front it probably would have been shorter, guess I'll have to time it...

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Best - realizing all over again why I married my DH - nothing I do fazes him, even being lazy and not getting off the 'puter lol

Worst - coming to the realization that people are quite often disappointed in me

What did I learn today - That the best friends are those that are patient with me........ it's that whole "friends are here for a season/reason/lifetime" email thingie......

The hardest part was coming to that realization, yet again. I promise more than I can deliver, then someone gets disappointed. You'd think at my age I'd stop that........

~Susan~

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Susan I've been the Queen of Procrastination since the day I was born, I completely understand!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Today it's nutzoid on the roads. Car accidents all over the 4 quadrants of the city. We had a large snowfall overnight and it isn't stopping.
Even going slow, I found myself skidding to a stop at a stopsign....
There was someone going twice as fast as anyone else, on a main road - why? because they're nuts!
It's people like them who cause the accidents I mentioned before......
I'm glad both my DH (who called me from work to find out) got to work safe and sound!

~Susan~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you Crissy - you're one of the people I should have sent something to, and haven't yet....................................

~Susan~

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Surprisingly there were no accidents this morning driving in and it was raining so hard we were all going 30mph on the interstate and the fastest speed on the wipers was doing nothing. And I get to go out at lunch Yippeee!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

good for you, Crissy! What's for lunch?

We were going 30 km (slower than 30mph) on the TransCanada hwy.... it runs right by our developement.......

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Fancy Feast!
