Today's Weather in Your Garden - 54

Thomaston, CT

Just spoke with my friend in FL--90's! She said it's July weather down there, but will be cooling off this weekend---yeah, down to the 80's!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

34 and clear. Brrrr.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

burrr is right... 34 here too... going up to 51

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

29 here and jack made an appearance

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I see lots of frost on roofs.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

38 here..... high of only 47???? what??? brrrr is right, but no wind so it doesn't feel that bad.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - big difference when no wind. Pretty day for our hike.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Ahhhh! To hike in the forest, and hear the little whippoorwills “tweeting” in the trees!
(No bears or snakes of course.)
43° /part sun

Thomaston, CT

It was 29 this morn---now it's up to 48--yipee----just got home from a root canal---no pain, just gagged the whole time!

South Hamilton, MA

at least 30 last night. Water in a small bucket froze. Reported to be 50 now, but still 'brisk' air.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

48 and on/off drizzle. Yuck! An iris still reblooming!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

ewwwww, there was white cold stuff on the wind shield this morning! We had to go out and exhume all the dead green bean plants this afternoon. The poor little babies still had little flowers and beans on them. Rest in peace. The garden is officially put to bed for the season, but it is FILLED with pine needles. Oh well, I'll think about that in May!

Going down to 27 tonight here. Brrrrrrr. We have taken our last walk along the road by the lake.

Marilyn - we've gotten lots of calls from our neighbors in FL about the heat wave. Ick.......I'll be wishing we were back up here! The colors were so pretty this afternoon on our walk.

South Hamilton, MA

Pine needles make a good mulch. DH has been raking them into a pile to use. Mighty cold to do much outside. Where is Indian summer?

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

I think it forgot to look at the calender!

Thomaston, CT

Hope it comes along in the next few weeks--this week's weather does not sound great. We will be at the farm most of the weekend babysitting as our son & DIL are going to a wedding in Camden, ME---I was hoping to have the kids outside---not going to happen.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh Camden won't be very warm this weekend either, high of 40's but wet from a storm off shore I believe. Makes for a raw weekend on the coast.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

it is 29 here right now and i also put most of our garden to bed today - at least all the t-plants - and they have been burnt in the fire pit

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

41 now... going to 43... rain for the next few days

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Man it's raw out there! Feels like late November.

39 and overcast. A Noreaster on the way.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

it looks cold out there - cleaning up the rest of the garden today and hopefully putting a big dent in the bulbs before the rain gets here.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- Great! My 4' Virginia Sweetspire came yesterday evening in PERFECT condition from Oregon. If I plant it now It may get trashed from the wind, if I plant it later it stays a few more days in the pot...

44°, W NE12mph, overcast.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Started raining here, 46 currently the low was 43

South Hamilton, MA

Ouch!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

That is too cold, too early.

Thomaston, CT

Oh, Yuck---this is a year from h--l! What happened to warm, sunny days of fall? It's very dreary here, but am taking DH to the orchard to get some Baldwins---WC---leave the plant---it'll be fine---you can plant next week when it's SUPPOSED to be back in the 60s.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yeah I know, I'm not planting it, it's better off nice and dry for now, and so am I (lol!). I'll be happy if they give me 50°s and let me keep it for awhile, I still got tulips coming!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Allison just texted me...it's snowing where she is.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

My condolences :(

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

It's gonna be a loooooong winter. (sigh)

South Hamilton, MA

No wonder that everyone is popping out of the ground.

Thomaston, CT

Happy October! Although we did get an Oct. 4th snowstorm in '87---I went through my gardening journals, & found that winter was not so bad. Either that, or I had a better attitude!

Wow! No sticking here, but my wife came home with snow on the car and said the roads were bad.
