I am here!!!! Is anyone else home?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

As I had posted in the old room... you need real help Susan.

Twyla, pretty soon I've got to start thinking of dentures. Don't think I'll be brave like you... 20 teeth at one time!

Whoopee.. today I pressed the kitchen towels and fat quarters for 2 of my swaps.

Kel's so encouraged by that butterfly house, he says he'll do a birdhouse for me! He had made birdhouses before, but they were plain.. nothing elaborate. So, I guess anything for outside, that's his dept. now :D

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm home!!
Hiya Trisha! How's the weather there today. It's in the high 80's here, but the nights are down to 50's. My poor plants.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm here, too.

Running in the 60's here with 40's at night. Sigh....so not ready for this yet.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Some sistah 'badgered' me for an update on Murdock.
His bloodcount was so low Monday, that he almost needed a transfusion.
Today, he's supposed to do a CTScan, but too weak to keep his appointment.
Thanks for the badgering... please keep praying for him.

Look what I harvested today. More tomatoes and Japanese eggplants plus sprigs of Thai Basil.
Can you all say.... Asian Ratatouille??

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cookie, I do hope you won't lose your beautiful natural tan!

The flowers on my plumerias are dropping off fast. I'm begging some brugmansias to please Y faster, while a few will be ready to be cut down. Not ready for dormancy but then the camellias will be ready for their own fall show.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, what is Asian Ratatouille?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Getting cold at night....low forties, soon to be upper thirties....low to mid sixties during most days...maybe a few upper sixties left. Definitely time for the house plants and other tender plant to start coming in...just don't know where I am going to put them.....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, instead of Italian Basil or adding some Provencal herbs, my main herb will Thai Basil. Have a very different taste to regular basil.
Then I may add a little oyster sauce :D
But tonight it's frozen pizza for Kel and instant noodles for me.
Will do the veges tomorrow.

Trisha, maybe you could find an inexpensive mini greenhoue? Don't we all love to accumulate plants, but when it's time for overwintering.. it's always a hassle every year.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Papa changes his mind!! Think it's Mexican tonight!
Ohh by the way, he picked up another stray kitty.. so.. our vet will be happy.

Judy must still be lost at Michael's. Wonder what creative juices are flowing in her veins now!!

See you later ladies!

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi all

Managed to break away for a minute to try to catch up.. Fall is here and tonight we are under a frost advisory.. Cold out there.. But the trees are turning and I love watching the colors burst into the trees.

On a side note would you believe Max got a parking ticket in front of our house oday. We have been pulling the 2 passenger side tires into the grass to leave room for passing cars because the street is so narrow our mirrors keep geting smashed.. Well today we got fined for it .. in our own yard.. Uggghhh First non moving ticket ever. for Max and he is steaming mad.. When it rains it pours bad luck around us I swaer..

Those bruggs are beautiful.. I miss mine so much..

Waving Hello to all.. But Im off to drop the pizza in the oven..
Huggs
Donna

Good Evening Ladies,

Had to baby sit Taylor again sore throat. My grandson was playind soccer the other day and jammed the middle finer on his right hand and broke a huge chip of bone in the joint. Has to have a pin put in it.

SIL took his mom to doc today don't know the outcome yet. Asked my daughter if I should cancell my camping trip she said no. So that makes Steve really happy because he needs the get away time from phone calls from friends to come "help". They started calling him at 4:30 this morning poor guy hasn't had a good night's sleep in weeks. He says he's so tired and has no energy. Where we are going camping it's going to be in the low 70's thru the day and nights are going to be CHILLY low 50's. Makes for good snuggling hee hee ^_^.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Aww poor Taylor! He'll soon be bragging of the pin to his buddies.

Cindy, apparently Steve has a problem saying no to his friends.
Don't need no chilly weather for a good snuggling :D

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Donna, I can't believe you can't park on your own grass????
Sheesh.. if that's state owned.. so.. do they're responsible for the upkeep then? Bring that up to court! That doesn't make any sense at all.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Jaye sweetie, Taylor is my granddaugter with sore throat. Grandson's name is Kain. I should have said that in other post. yep Steve does have a hard time saying no.

No you don't need chilly weather for snuggling, but it is more comfortable especially when you have power surges, lol.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, Jaye - you're right......... tonight I'm so tired, even my face feels tired........I keep yawning.........

I'm at home now, playing FarmTown (and FarmVillage, but That's going wonkers, so I'm giving up on it!)

Working on my Tote Bag, and I'm really happy with what's coming with it! ^_^
I really love my new sewing machine, now that it's working correctly, with the new thread lol

~Susan~

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Note to self... Taylor---Cindy's Grandaughter.... Kain---Grandson :D

As time progresses, I am sure you'd be teaching Steve how to put his foot down, Cindy! See, he already needs you!
Power surges? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Susan, I haven't even started on the tote. Going to be real simple as the fabric's too beautiful to be distracted with too many extras (More like I'll be too frazzled for that!!!)

Just pressed 10 kitchen towels and some fat quarters. I'm so miserable with the towels I had bought online from a supposedly reliable store. They shrunk!! Thank God, those nice ladies gave me the okay to use them. And they're not cheap!!
For these towels, I'll have my Singer set up cause they require different settings.

I am so glad that Kel now is taking over swaps that he can help with.
I didn't realize I had said yes to too many!!!! LOLOL!!! Family entertainment here...

God doesn't give you what you can't handle Susan. But if He does, He'd give you ways to cope ;)

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

I made it bacl.. Big grins..

I envy you too working on sewing things.. I cant wait to get a machine and start in on Tonys lanket. I still need to get some more material but I figure alittle at a time and maybe I will tell Santa I want a machine for christmas.. lol

Cindy it sounds like camping is just what the doctor ordered.. Its definately my favorite thing to get away and do whenever possible.. This spring we will be doing alot of it once we are settled..

Jaye I wish the city saw it the way you do.. I will be taking a few pictures and going to see what we can do about setting the street up as one way .. That may help with the extra traffic but I doubt it. This whole parking ticket thing is just wrong. There is no sidewalk and we were in our grass not 5 feet from my steps if that. Grrrr Cant park in teh alley or we may end up with another chip in teh window from rocks or BB's (previous already)..
Will take a pic out front tomorrow.. Hopefully al teh plans dont freak out in the frost tonight.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - don't get me wrong, I love my job, and the extra responsibility! Hard work looks Good On Me lol
'sides - they know this is an "opportunity" for me, and if I do well, then I'm certain to get a raise & promotion! Mind you, it may take them 6 months or more to do it lol
Right now, I'm feeling the strain of the EXTRA "Information Overload" that I didn't expect. I certainly expected regular "information overload" (is there such a thing? lol)

Are you feeling better now, Jaye? Between the cold and watermelon overload, I expect you to feel pretty awful! Take care, hon.

~Susan~

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Extra information overload!! You know you're too efficient for your own good Susan!!!!! It's not a bad thing especially when you see the 'proof' in your next paycheck!
Hope you get all the good you deserve sistah!

Lolol!!!!!!! Yep.. watermelon overload last night, but not tonight!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes, Steve said he is looking forward to getting away from phones and all the B.S. Awhile back we were talking about the future and he said that he wants to get away from all of these people that he has been helping so that his time is spent mainly with his partner and that he hoped I was in it. I think he's falling in love, hee hee. I told him I do not want to get married for at least another 3 to 4 years. I want to make sure that I'm really ready to go that route again. He keeps talking about moving to Idaho or Montana and asked if I thought I'd like living there. I told him I had my mom to think about before I coud think about leaving California.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Donna, so sorry to hear about the ticket. I have never heard that one before!
Cindy, hope you have a great time with Steve.

Jaye, let me rephrase that question. What is Ratatouille?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye here is picture for you....

Thumbnail by zhinusmom
(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

They just did that ticket thing in Pierce County, some ordinance about how you can't drive over the curb because they were not designed for the weight load...

Here is all of the flowers.....

Thumbnail by zhinusmom
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Trisha are those all your plants? Are the devil trumpets? They are so pretty.
Good night all!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

No not mine, yet, I have no idea what they are for sure, they are growing in the greenhouse of a condemned property near here that was a garden center at one point.....I am hoping to get a few cuttings before the frost gets them...

Thumbnail by zhinusmom
(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Those are Datura "Moonflower" Devil's Trumpet I've got tons of seeds. Can't start them from cuttings Trisha. That prickle ball is the seed pod with lots of seeds. When it starts cracking open then cut the whole thing off. Be carful of the stickers. Those plants are poision and if you get poked you can get sick.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, Ratatouille is a Provencal/Italian dish that highlights fresh tomatoes, eggplants and zukes cooked with herbs and in olive oil.
It has so many variations, but the most important thing is to have just picked veges and herbs. I like to add olives sometimes for some 'oomph' whereas my sister loves to add fresh lemon juice for some acidity.
You can serve over rice or even pasta.

Here's one recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 large eggplant, or several smaller ones
- 2 medium zucchini
- 1 onion
- 1 pepper
- 2 tomatoes (more if small)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons chopped basil, oregano or marjoram (or a mix)
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
salt

Directions
Cut eggplant, zucchini, pepper and onion into cubes of about 1/2 inch. Mince or press the garlic. Finely chop the tomatoes, retaining seeds and juice.
Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute the eggplant until it begins to brown a little. Remove eggplant, add to the pan the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil, the onions, zucchini and peppers. Cover, reduce the heat and cook for 10 minutes.
Add garlic and tomatoes and cook 5 minutes. Add the browned eggplant and the chopped herbs and cook until all vegetables are tender - 10 to 15 minutes.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the pic Trisha. Yep those are moonflowers, Daturas or Devil's trumpets. Poisonous too. These Daturas are also called Jimson weeds. I'd like to think that someone a long time ago, intentionally planted one datura, and somehow through the years, that has reseed and multiplied to give some grace to an abandoned building.
Place a stocking over one of those prickly balls. So, when it burst open, you don't have to be picking up seeds!

What's there in Montano and Idaho for him, Cindy?

Well, I'm heading for bed. It's been quite a long day...

Good night sweet ladies.

Glenview, IL

Good night...

oh wow...A new kitty? Kel you big sweet heart! you two will be all the difference in it's lil life.
just spreading the love...makes the world go round you know.

lol, Jaye, can you believe I made it out of Michaels in 20 minutes flat. hehehe. I was very good.
Then had to go get Breenie, take her back..got lost in finally staining the side of house red.
roflol, it only been like that for two seasons...waiting for DH to do it???????lol, we'll add it to his list!
not, big chessy smile, it's done.

OMG, Cindy! May i have about 10 seeds? I love Dantura, had one in my yard many years ago...Stunning but too poisonous for my kids and friends. grew right there in the middle of my yard too! hmmmm, I have a picture somewhere..will have to go look.
lol, oh, mine was white and purple.

OK...I 'll wish you all a great day tomorrow, I have Jury Duty so will be gone all day, sigh.

Susan, LOL...good thing your working tote. good to take mind off the info overload.

speaking of overload..I'm tired. Going to head to bed so good night.

sleep well.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes Judy, there are other Datura's, and yes you can have some seeds. I even have some purple and white seeds too, (I think).

Jaye, as of right now I don't know. But he seems to think he can get more work there than here in CA. I'm thinking he is thinking of retirement there. Land is cheap. He is looking at 20 acres along a river in Montana

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning ladies!
Coffee's on. Eggs scrambled with sausage patties, chunks of tomatoes and bell peppers, enjoy.

Urghhh.. I hope it's an easy case, Judy. Can't tell you to have fun, nothing fun about Jury Duty :(

Well that makes sense Cindy. He's thinking ahead. So, he's an independant truck driver. Tell him that the recession's everywhere. My best friend's DH (Tenn.) and Kel's uncle (S.C.) are independant truck drivers, and their 'runs' have been reduced too.

Will be busy today. So I hope you all have a fantastic day!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Jaye, thanks for the coffee and breakfast!
Hard to believe someone just left all those plants! I would go take a seed pod or two also!
I will be off to San Antonio again today. Today my youngest turns 28, and he is doing a suspension show. I am going to surprise him. So I will see you all Friday afternoon!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Happy Birthday LK's Youngest!!!
Don't you make your mama feel old!! Hehehe!

Have a good time LK!
Well I'm off this time!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

morning, michael will be home tonite so i have lots to do today

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

G'morning, all! I'm feeling more chipper today!! I went to bed @ 9, and slept through to 5:30! ^_^
Now, to do it again tonight LOL

Daturas - I have loads of seeds, and plants. They aren't perennial here, but they DO self-seed! I have some Datura Metel too (they're the coloured ones, some with multiple "skirts" like ballerinas!) The Datura Inoxia are pure white and usually bigger than the Metel. If you want any, let me know!

They're really very startlingly beautiful, I think ^_^
I just wish they were perennials here..... and I don't dare take them in during the winter, cuz my cat would eat them, and they are Very toxic to small animals. Put them in a coma at the very least.........

~Susan~

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Morning Ladies,

I have a date with Dave tonight. We are meeting at Applebee's for a cocktail ^_^.
This is Dave
