I was not telling anyone what to do - they can plant by their biorhythms, or sunspot cycle or whatever, if it makes them happy. But facts is facts. There is much that is not explained by science - this just is not one! There are many who don't believe we landed on the moon or think that putting gravel in the bottom of a planting hole will help drainage.
Coffee Break # 19 - Happy Equinox!
What makes you think that "THIS" is not one? Why, in your estimation, is this fact and only fact. I've seen some amazing things--somtimes the explanation are unclear.....
I hope you don't think that I think you were 'telling' Victor; just sharing your opinions (methinks there are too many 'thinks' in that sentence). Maybe a teensyweensy part of you believes? Ok by me if not. We are all different which is what makes us all special. I attended a seminar on Generation Y today. I figured since I'm mentoring many from their generation I best learn to understand them as best I can. It was presented by Generation Y-ers so I really felt it would be valuable to hear a presentation on their values from their perspective. It was on generational differences between Babyboomers, Gen X-ers and Gen Y-ers. Verrrrrrrry interesting.
From study after study, Phoebe. And evaluating the 'explanations' behind both sides.
No problem, dnut.
I'm a babybloomer--what did they have to say bout that dnut?^_^
Recently returned from my night class and checking in for updates on this thread.
I think its ok to agree to disagree. We cant all believe the same thing. How boring would that be!
Without getting into a conversation not allowed on Dave's I won't explain further so I''ll take myself to bed cause my biorhythms are leading me in that direction. Maybe tomorrow I'll check around for more evidence that we "actually" landed on the moon and check to make sure there is no gravel in my planting holes :-)
Autumn, eh?
Forget the lower temps!
Forget the colorful foliage!
Forget the harvest!!
There are more important things happening!!!
MALLOMARS ARE BACK!!!!!

Ha!! I KNEW you were playing the devils advocate! lol
re fishing: Such a simple solution to make life easier.
Hee hee!
Anyone have an iPhone?? My contract is up soon and I am considering getting one. Is it really worth it or over-hyped? Some of the apps look so cool. For example, there is one that turns the phone into a wireless shutter release for my Nikon! How cool is that?
Scams...

I like this story better--think he will grow up to howel at the moon?

Where do all of you find these sites? The stolen bag is an eye-opener.
My mother used to play the violin, and though she was good, one of our dogs would howl sometimes when she played.
I turn into a werewolf during the full moon. No, true story!!!!!!
That scam is a good one to be aware of.
Love the puppy howling!
Karen
So far I'm happy to suffer his violin playing. D'nut, maybe I'll take it up too.
Victor, I can forgive your debunking the lunar effect on lunacy but Springsteen?!! That is near blasphemy! The best rocker, song writer in a generation. Voice is not pretty but fits his songs. He is the antithesis of the "all hype-no talent" people so common today WC2. He intentionally came out with allbums that woulld be less commercial when he was getting too popular (Nebraska) to lower his profile,
There! Now don't mess with the boss. At least not when the moon is full.
Dave47 you're my hero
Luv Dahlianut
aka Boss Fan
I think he still sings like a cow being disemboweled, but that's just my opinion...
'Not pretty' is the understatement of the year, Dave! He and Dylan should have just stuck to songwriting.
To come full circle on the moon subject, it was announced the other day that water has been found on the moon. Now my question is, are moon people affected by full Earth???
Ya, I like the music hate his voice, agree should have stuck to songwriting.
Ugh, ate at Perkins the other night, sick as a dog all night. On the bright side, I lost 2 pounds.
What moon people? How much are they going to sell the water for?!
It doesn't matter how much the moon people charge for water; there's plenty of room up there for free parking!
You just have to worry about the $500 million fuel bill to get there.
(Maybe they'll have free delivery...)
ice, not water. Take your skates.
From "Rocky and Bullwinkle":
This is the time of year when the moon people sing the old classic,
"Shine on, shine on harvest *Earth*....up in the sky, I ain't had no lovin' since January, February, June and July."
Garden History Item today. I'm sure John must be a related to me ^_^
1898: Botanist and naturalist John Muir visited Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. He was enthralled with the view, and despite ill health, began to dance and sing for joy.
Sorry to hear that, Jen. Hope you're feeling better. We had a tummy virus just run through the house this week. Luckily, I only had a touch.
Awww, all you non-moon believers have got me singing:
Bluuuuue Moon, you saw me standing alone, without a dream in my heart......
I do believe there is power in the full moon - I have given it a number of times. Do it on a regular basis to my wife, and it I'm feeling particularly frisky, I will do a whirl-around and flash her! ^_^
I luv it when we sing ^_^ mimimimimi (in my best Patsy Cline voice)
♫Blue moon of Kentucky keep on shining
Shine on the one that's gone and prove untrue
Blue moon of Kentucky keep on shining
Shine on the one that's gone and left me blue ♫
How sad to have to cover up reality!
I think that was a very sad article too.
Yes it is sad. It's sad that in a very homogeneous society like that, cultural and social norms are never challenged. Therefore, the pressure to 'fit in' and 'honor your family and country', result in things like this. It's virtually unchanged for hundreds of years. Of course they 'know' that its not someones fault that they lost their job, or that economic realities can cause upheavals, etc., but this 'charade' continues.
That’s a judgment call, I try not to be too judgmental, especially with cultures that have been around for a few thousand years. I just consider it different, I do admire and respect many aspects of the Japanese culture.
I have seen a TV spot on the bullying which goes on in Japanese schools. It is much worse than it is here, where in some schools the staff is working to prevent it.
I admire lots about Japan too. What I said is hardly controversial. In fact, a Japanese friend has said virtually the same thing many times.
Gotta keep up with the Joneses somehow. Good thing I don't know the Joneses.
I never bother with putting gravel in the bottom of my holes. Does anyone?
I love Springsteen. Love his voice. I don't find it difficult to listen to at all. Then again, I also like Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen. Bob Dylan is much more difficult for me to listen to.
