thank you budgie. full sun, huh? I thought they required shade. good to know. I saw a huge white beatyberry shrub at a local nursery, 6' x 6' or something like that, stunning.

Rita, soursop has to be one of the most delicious tropical fruits out there. Somebody made a public relations faux pas when they named that fruit. Nothing sour about it!

Kim, nice pics looks like Costa Rican jungle, not PA, lol

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Yep full Florida sun from about 10am to 3pm when sun goes over the house. South Exposure. Seems to love the heat.

Candela, the Madagascar palms (Pachypodium lamerei) will flower only when mature. They will then also branch, which makes for a much more interesting looking plant. The blooms are fragrant.

dutchlady wow i will have to get a chair and gloves to smell it now. i have always had it in a pot maybe i should plant it in the ground?

i finally took a class on orchid care and it is has worked

My Madagascar Palms all live happily in the ground. They will grow faster that way - you need to decide if you want that.

Cass,

Did you mean that you TAUGHT the class? Your plants are always beautiful. Your Vanda wants me to try them again, so many hit my dumpster. Alas.

i went with val to broward orchid supply and got some fertilizer to spray them. i never knew that vandas don't like those orchid baskets they break down and rot. you just hang them on a hook and let the roots hang. they get alot of light in the pool enclosure now

candela,
What a nice surprise to find your Madagascer palm flowering, that is the stuff that really makes your day.
I have one tiny vanda that came in a basket, I guess I will have to take it off. I sure would like to have blooms like yours.

It is almost time to start a new thread, anyone with a Tropical picture is welcome to start one. ( I have seen some very good ones ).
