Rita I used to have Hebes in England which tells me they are not tropical. You may need to protect them from the really fierce summer heat.
Tropical Garden # 52
planc. You are right. When it gets light I will take some pics. Nothing outrageous, but mine.
Thanks, it's a purdy one.
Hap
Jenny, your tapioca looks fabulous. Mine is but one twig - all the deer left for me to enjoy.
Rita, the very first pic in this thread is a var. rhapis palm. I drool, lust, covet this plant.
I agree w/ Hetti that you will have to give hebe some TLC, they thrive in the PNW, mine croaked in houston summer.
ardesia, there are apples for TX, FL. Trick is to find var. that require 400 or less chill hours. There's a couple that only require like 200. I think they came from New Zealand. I have Anna, new for me so no apples yet. I am thinking about getting a 3 in 1 tree from Raintree Nurseries (wonderful fruit tree vendor). They graft three cultivars with same requirements and compatible from a pollination stand point.
TXBL, where can you get var. plumies for next to nothing??? I still see them for $40-60 bucks.
TX BL, I re-read your post and I'm wondering if you mean THAILAND plumerias, vs.Taiwan plumies and you're right, some of those Thai plumies have come down in price, but there's still some pricey ones. And the variegated ones, still pricey, IMO.
Kimarj, Those few black Castor bean seeds have brought me so much pleasure, everyone is attracted to them. Thanks
I do have several plants that did nothing this year as well, but there is always next year.
Rj, you have to remember that I am a plant-a-holic, and I love them all (like you). lol
The big Clerodendrum that you gave to me the last trip is now covered in blooms. I took a picture, but it was blurry.
Dutchlady, thanks for the heads-up on the Hebe, I will definately have to move it.
Yellow variegated split leaf monstera
Sunshinesw, your first night picture knocked my socks off. It is so peacefully tropical. thanks
Texasbigleaves, we did get strong winds and almost 1 in. of rain last night. It blew a few pots over, and broke a Siam Ruby in two, but no hail.
Here is my only Micky Mouse that got transplanted to the front yard by mistake, I need to get a magniyfing glass to find the others.
budgielover, that is a very good picture of your Coral vine, mine was eaten by a blue morning glory bush

vossner, thank you for the proper name of my var. Palm, it is only about 18 ins. tall. I promise to help find one for you.
Anthurium
Hey, placen
Yes, both are in the yard. The anthu. and the Mahoe. Get plants.
Hap
Those are all just beautiful!!
Rita, yes I noticed those clerodendrum indicum were blooming here too. Those plants get very tall. When they bloom they start bending with the weight. That is one plant that I have not seen in anyone elses garden as yet.
I have had clerodendron indicum for about 15 yrs. The seed pods are more interesting than the flowers.
I really like the way that clerodendron indicum looks..
budgie I went out front to see my brug blooms, and found my coral vine fighting its way thru the honey suckle.. I hope to have one as strong as yours someday..
jeri, your hibs are fab! I will have to look the c'est bon up..
jenny your tapioca is a giant compared to mine..
I really like this shibouri...
wow, texas, what is that up there?
That Manta is really cute!
