۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞164
Good morning ladies,
thank you for coffee LK. I can smell that brug from here! Last year, I had Naughty Nick.. thought the first blooms were small, then came the second, still small. Kinda disappointed with it (that says a lot when I'm disappointed with a brug).
I'll take a noid with substantial size blooms.
Pegi, I thought we've lost you! Good to see you. And if ever I can get 'someone' to divide that spider plant, I'll send you some. These, along with the hedys came via Louisiana :D
Crissy, I hope not sweetheart! But drainage is better than being stuffed.. it's breaking loose.
Hope you have a hassle free day at the office today and will get to feeling better.
Hmm... another sick sistah, Donna.. Your day off right? Hope you're resting.
No rain predicted for this area, Bonnie. Be nice for me if that changes.
Wasn't thinking of laying soakers when planting, wish I had.
That time again Maid M? So, we'll see less of you here. Might have to post a picture of you to constantly remind us how you look like. Hmm.. I know the perfect picture:D
But, we'll pray that all goes well for you, unlike last year.
Gainesville = Quiltshops.
CIndy...PTL you are home safe!! Lolol
Awwwww... we can feel your happiness across the screen, Cindy ^_^
I can imagine you still reliving those beautiful moments. You're so blessed to find a man that truly wants to please you. He's so romantic.
Just the person who has the right picture of Maid M!!
Sistah Judy, do you think we can use your picture here? Hehehehe..
You're very creative, and I'm sure your HW gift will be one that your buddy will definitely fall in love with.
Susan, are you through with your blocks yet? Still waiting on those pics :D
Trisha, we managed to catch the last part, and Kel was rooting for that opera singer. I told him that the country guy would win, as he has a bigger fan base and you know they'd be voting the max. Were you disappointed? I was :(
Had a fever last night. Broke it in the middle of the night. Kel told me I was talking in my sleep and he was disappointed because he was hanging on to every words uttered and they're all about school... not former boyfriends!!!
Think I'll do absolutely nothing today... after watering.. not even touching the sewing machine.
I am glad I won't be contaminating any of you with these germs :( And yes, I constantly wash my hands.
Hope you all have a good day.
well - browser crashed, and I lost my posting...
Crissy - you have mail too! lol
I just had a terrible allergic reaction to a scent in the office... it's a scent free building, but it doesn't seem to matter to people who wear handcream, etc. The more I am exposed, the worse each episode gets...
Jaye - we're not posting pics, so it'll be a surprise to the recipients.... But I can post one in a d-mail to you lol
This is just a quick pop-in, as I have to use my brain and work today.
~Susan~
Ah hum!!! Are you resorting to blackmail now sistah Jaye? LOL I (believe it or not) have worked this summer on getting a larger vendor coordinator base so I can slowly slip out of that into retirement. 19 years out of 20, I think I have earned it. We will see how it goes tonight. Thanks for the thoughts.
Ah yes, quilt shops but maybe not this trip. I am going back next week for a luncheon of my garden circle-just found out I was a hostess--so I will go Wednesday (this will be a wonderful distraction as that is a really hard day at this house) and stay with my friends. My return trip I will take in the quilt shops!!! Any orders? Let me know by next Tuesday.
Well the minutes are printed, agenda is done, vendors who have signed up recorded so now it is time to shower, dress and get out ahead of these horrible afternoon storms. Sure wish I could send the rain somewhere else!!!! LOL, then in a few days I would be wanting rain again. Can't win for losing in this situation.
Please all you sick ladies, take care of yourselves and hurry and get well.
Your camping trip pics, Susan. But you can dmail a pic of the blocks too!
Me too can't stand strong scents, and my nose can detect Avon anytime :(
Oooh you're too kind, Judy!!!!
I was thinking of that 'naughty' one.. but this will do for the first!!
ROFL!!
Just a quick pop in, have to go to Seattle with SIL today and I need to get a few things done before we leave.
Jaye,I do think she had an incredible voice...but, as much as I try, I have never been able to get into Opera....I do have to say she brought me to tears on several occasions...it was a hard decision this year but as soon as they announced the final two I knew Kevin would win...just not a big enough fan base for Opera:( I have to say Kevin does have one of the most beautiful smiles I have ever seen.
Waving to everyone...talk to you tonight.
STOP THIEF!!!!....ROFLMAO
got a laugh from those pics
thanks...needed one
DH informed me his son is going to be staying with us for at least a week so he can get his apartment yet he has this month to get the title of the car in his name and the insurance as nit expires the end of the month........................
DH says the son will take care of car first so that means he will be at the house for more then a week to get the car then the apartment ....I know not the end of the world but I am just tired of it all....sorry needed to vent
Now if we were to stay another longer, that pup would have flown home with us!!
Oh.. that's another priceless one.. all the sins of Maid M., surfacing!!
Did anyone ever opened that Bailey's, Judy?
Phyllis, a week is better than a year!!! Hang in there sistah!! He got to get it right, if not he'll end up being back with you again :(
(((((((((Phyllis)))))))))))
(((((((Phyllis))))))))) And people wonder why I never had children..:0)

8 Tips for Handling a Toxic Coworker
by Caroline M.L. Potter, Yahoo! HotJobs
Times are tough enough without having to deal with a toxic coworker; but if you do, you may be stuck with them longer than usual, thanks to a weakened economy. Consider these hints to ease the tension:
1. It's business, not personal. Elayne Savage, author of "Don't Take It Personally! The Art of Dealing with Rejection," says, "It's way too easy take something personally and think behavior is about us, when it is really about the other person."
2. Avoid negative bonding. "At some point, the negative person will complain about something that resonates with you and your circumstance. Do not join in!" warns corporate relationship expert Tony Chatman. "Don't even empathize. If you 'bond' with someone on a negative issue, they will feel that they have found a partner in their distress and they will look for you every time they feel something negative," he states.
3. Find out what's really eating you. Darcy Eikenberg, a professional coach and HR expert, urges professionals, "Know why this person is bugging you. Sometimes we're annoyed by someone who actually reminds us of the worst qualities in ourselves. For example, the workplace whiner may actually be expressing things you're thinking but don't feel safe to say. As Stephen Covey says, 'Seek first to understand' -- knowing why this person's behavior bugs you is the first step to changing your reaction to it."
4. Don't get too close. Workplace expert Donna Flagg, author of "Surviving Dreaded Conversations" to be published in October 2009, thinks steering clear is a solid survival strategy. "Keep a safe distance so as to avoid getting sucked into the toxicity. It's contagious," she believes.
5. Seek a sympathetic shoulder. "Unfortunately annoying coworkers are a hidden reality from most job descriptions," reveals workplace legal expert and former prosecutor Robin Bond. "Sometimes the best remedy is trading stories with a close friend (outside of the office) and finding humor and comfort in knowing you're not alone," she counsels.
6. It's all about inclusion. "If you really want the person's behavior to shift," suggests Amy Dorn Kopelan, co-creator of www.thegurunation.com,"try to include the toxic-minded people in more and more activity. Ask for their input. Ask for ideas. Don't let them grumble their way to effective discontent with the business and with the people around the office."
7. When in doubt, check it out. Is a coworker really acting in a toxic manner or did you get their tone wrong? Savage recommends, "Check out what you thought you saw or heard so space doesn't get filled with hurt feelings, anger, and resentment. Something on the order of, 'This is what I heard you say. Is it what you meant?' can work wonders."
8. Exit, stage right. Babs Ryan, who wrote "America's Corporate Brain Drain," says you may have just one option in the end. "Only 1 percent of bullies are fired; action is usually taken against the [bully's] target. If you work with a toxic coworker, your only choice may be to leave as quickly as possible -- especially if the company supports that bully repeatedly and has already exited several of the bully's targets," she states.
oooooooooooh Jaye - sorry, misunderstood - yes.............the camping pics.
Ok, will do, asap (will the year 2011 do? LOL)
It seems I'm having "quite the day!" today.
Allergic reaction to scent that had me off-kilter until about 11:30, in the middle of a meeting that lasted 1 1/2 hrs, now I'm having to play "catch-up" to get my day in order lol
Cya later!
~Susan~
2011??? Oh well, I might be called by the Lord by then!!
Maybe a memo should be circulated in the office reminding of the "No Scent" policy, and that involves all toiletries.. under arm deodorant, lotions ..
Feeling much better now. Still got that headache, but not taking anything for it. Waiting on Kel to close the shop and head for town.
Judy, that's a precious picture of her! Wish I had taken a close-up of her eyes. They twinkle all the time, don't they?
Needless to say, we all fell in love with her the moment she walked down those stairs. Honestly, her personality is waaaaay bigger in real life!
Jaye, so glad your feeling better again!
to answer earlier ?...Not sure about the Bailyes being opened but I think "made" someone took it home.
Yes, Marion does have twinkly eyes...Makes for one happy Sistah, and laugh to go with it.
Yepper, i still talk about the sistah gathering, was a highlight of my summer.
Phylis...forgot to ask how is our Lil Millie?? Still cute as be I am sure.
..as far as the son, let just pray he gets his affairs together...so he can move, hang tight.
big armwrap to you. ((((((((Phylis))))))))
Afternoon Everyone
Jaye I love the toxic co-worker list.. LOL Alot of those describe the ol fart I work with .. I fgure Ill kill him with Kindness and yesterday it did the trick he stayed away from me.. lol He came in and said good morning to everyone but me.. Well I just smiled and said Good morning sunshine - dont you even say morning to me anymore? He was stunned and didnt talk to me the remainder of the day..
Very cute puppy and I love all the pictures.. '
Susna I know the feeling about scents.. Ugghh yesterday I almost died when the other gir l I work with did a perm in the shop.. Had to go outside so I could breath..
Feeling better today and can actually breath. I wish I could say I relaxed all day but .. hmmm well thats not me.. I mowed the yard, cleaned out Bellas kennel and put in fresh hay, cleaned up a flower bed, went to the park and collected fresh dogwood and buckeye tree seeds, took Bella for a walk and started laundry. LOL I guess I don tknow how to stop but at least I got to go to the park and walk around.. Havent been to that park in years and even though I was all by myself it was very nice to be out this morning..
Well Max just came home so I better run for now..
Huggs
Donna
Hi everyone!! Went MIA this morning apparently.
Bonnie we've had the same here, rain rain and more rain. I want to go out and pull weeds too but every evening right after I get home we get a thunderstorm right over the house, so that's out!
Marion hope your meetings go good. I don't think I was here last year, I don't remember them. Anyway, hope they go good.
Cindy I'm so glad you had a great time!! You DID find a man and he seems so caring, I hope this is the one for you. Oh thank you for reminding me about the bulbs! I'm getting a bunch too and completely forgot about them. I've got to get out, but it keeps storming!
Lol in CA I had this dentist, a good dentist but there was a sign that said, "Please don't wear perfumes or colognes in this office for allergy reasons." I could never figure out, he's a dentist and sees a lot of people. If someone was to put on perfume or cologne then go to the dentist before going to work, or at any time during the workday, they wouldn't know to not wear it until after they were already there wearing it. I used to have a perfume allergy, just one type and never figured out what it was, but it eventually went away.
Jaye and Donna, I'm glad you're feeling better too, my goodness now my mom has a cold but she's in OKC. I told her it's better to get it now since she doesn't have her next surgery scheduled yet.
Well, I'm about to get off work and low in behold here comes another rain storm! I haven't driven home in dry weather in 5 days. Actually got to drive to work today without it raining, that was impressive :o
See ya'll later gators! I've got to go to the store after work. Blah!
Crissy - the 1st time they went to the dentist, they wouldn't know about the allergies, but people usually go to their dentist more than once, and would know from then on....... A lot of companies have a "no-scent" policy, so I would hope people would wiseup about it. There will always be some people who think "but not MY scent........" and they're also the ones who bathe themselves in scent, in the elevator.
I heard a story about someone who didn't wear scent all day, but just before she went home (and into the elevator) she liberally doused herself with scent so her DH wouldn't catch on that she was a smoker. He thought she'd quit, y'see.........
The only problem was when she got in the elevator with other, she reeked!!
~Susan~
I know a man who smokes and takes a bath in cologne and to be honest, the cigarette smoke would smell better and he has major lung problems and is killing himself quickly. He had quit for a long long time too, then just one day decided he was going to start smoking again, after he had been diagnosed with chronic pneumonia and who knows what else.
I remember when I was set up with Dave, the first thing he told me when we decided I was going to his house after he got off work that night for breakfast was the fact that he smoked. He said he smokes outside and in his car, never in the house because he doesn't like the smell of it. I have never smelled it in the house, other than when we go out and here you're still allowed to smoke in the bars.
Morning everyone.
I crashed early last night, and had a good night's sleep. Hope you all had too.
Donna, may today be a good day at work for you. Stay cheerful, be yourself. Show how tough folks are made of ;)
No more rain Crissy. Send some this way. Dry as a bone here.
Think colds, flus, sinus infections are making their rounds, no matter what your zipcodes are. Wishing quick recovery for your mom.
Silly Millie is ROTTEN!!! Phyllis, there's no other way to treat a pup but to spoil it! Ask Donna! So you're truly her human.
Is she spayed? Lola isn't, but she stays indoors.
Susan and LK, hope you both are finished with your projects. I'm yet to start on mine, maybe tomorrow :D
Kel's almost finished with the bhouse. I'll post a pic here after mailing it to my buddy. No fear of her lurking here... or does she?
Well, coffee's ready. Juice and milk in the fridge. Help yourselfs to toasted bagels and butter. Cream cheese optional!
Love y'all.
Morning Jaye, hope your feeling better today?
Thanks for breakfast.
Ladies it is Friday, and I pray you all have a wonderful week-end!
My tote is almost done, I just need to figure out the handle. Long or short?
LK
Oh Phyllis she is positively adorable!
Hope everyone is feeling better today. Cloudy and cool here so I must try to finish the coleus cutting event of the year. Check in later.
Juanita
I'd think a long handle will be better. She could sling over her shoulder. That's what I was planning for my tote anyway, LK.
Good luck Juanita! Will you be selling your cuttings?
Cloudy, muggy and drizzly. Certainly a weather to suit my mood :(
Crissy.... Susan... make me laugh!!
Morning Ladies,
Aw poor Steve, he is sick with ear infection and sinus infection. Wednesday after I left he had texted me that he was at Med 7 trying to get some meds for his ear. While he was there they took his bp YIKES it was 196/120 scared the beejebes out of me. So they kept him for awhile until it went down. Yesterday I didn't hear from him before noon so I called, he texted me back saying he was ill but the bp was down and he was going to rest all day. Well last night about 9 he texted me again saying that his phone would not stop ringing so he was turning it off so he could get some sleep and that he would call me this morning. Poor guy he's got to work , but feels like crud. Sure wished I could had my own place I'd make him come stay with me and take care of him. He doesn't eat right and has high blood pressure.
We were suppose to go fishing tomarrow but I don't think that is going to happen. :( So I don't know when I'll get to see him again.
Aww that certainly can turn anyone into a recluse... ear and sinuses at the same time along with high blood pressure?
Poor you Cindy. Perhaps this is another test of his character. If he rather be left alone then he's a grown boy :D Most men wanted to be coddled and whine all the time when they're ill.
As for poor nutrition.. think most truckers eat junk food on the road.
That certainly can elevate one's bp... all that sodium.
Give him a few days, and when he's good as new, you'll get to enjoy each other better ;)
Ok Jaye!! I don't have anything funny to say, nothing is going on other than a post on Facebook that made me mad last night, plus Dave made me mad this morning. I'm not going to talk about the post on Facebook but I will tell about Dave. I went to the store last night and bought two huge T-Bone steaks at $10.99 a pound, yes a little higher than I'd like to spend but I'm tired of pork and chicken. There was a note on the white board this morning telling me that $11.00 a pound for steak is too much to spend and we will continue to eat pork and chicken or go out to dinner. First of all, he works swing shift 7 days a week with one weekend off a month, when do we get to go to dinner again??? Second, he says we go out because he works way to hard to not spend his money the way he wants to, which ends up being anywhere between $30.00 and $50.00 a night, and you all can do the math if he wants to go out Fri and Sat nights, but I can't spend $22.00 of my hard earned money that I work for on some TBones that I want to grill at home, because he's always at work????
Oh Cindy I'm sorry, that sucks but he'll be alright and will reschedule with you I'm sure. I am worried about that bp, that's really high. Wonder if he's taking his meds? You know how men are with meds... lol
Jaye I usually sell rooted cuttings in the Spring on the Marketplace. It kind of depends on the kind of winter they have and whether they are prolific or not.
Crissy DH and I have had similar discussions. Why, I don't know. He has his money and I have mine. I learned that the hard way a very long time ago. No man will ever control my money again.
I am so beat. It has been a heck of a week. I need to work tomorrow too since I have to go to one of the commercial buildings and weed. I thought we were going to let that contract go at the end of Sept. because the owner of that building is a total jerk. I don't want to work for him, but he and my partner go way back. So I've been letting things slide a little there. Well by partner has decided to keep on with the guy and so I must do my part. I am not happy as I have made a lifes work of avoiding wealthy people who don't give a fig for anyone or anything but themselves. Oh alas, I rant again. Sorry.
He doesn't control my money at all, doesn't even try to and I'm not mad at what he said so much as the fact he wrote it on the white board instead of coming to me directly. He might get laid off from November 1st through January 2nd and we're trying to pay off some bills, so I know his complaint but tell me, don't write me a note chewing me out.
Good Morning Ladies! (although it just turned Noon, just now)
Been a busy morning! I got to work about 6:30, cuz I was so "off-kilter" yesterday that my work was ..... non-productive lol
I was spaced out by too much meds. When I had an allergic reaction, I was given Benedryl, AND Claritin, then 2 ASA's and a Fast Release aspirin......
boy was I a Zombie! It took until 5pm before I felt up to driving home...... my boss said I should go home @ 3:30, but I thought it would be best not to drive.
Update - it's now 1pm, and I'm just getting back to this posting.......
Busy, busy, busy
Will chat atcha later.
LOL Susan, I'm not productive today at all, our luncheon with Italian Food did me in!
If I don't get the minutes done today, I have about 2 hours of meetings on Monday that I have to attend (to get me going on the new project they have for me - it really sounds like a Huge Project, too. Good thing I'm "only" administering it and not doing setup (although I'll have to have meetings with my team, and get the info d/l-ed to Them......)
Ah well, cya l8tr......
Get those minutes done girl!!
so y'all know all about reacting to perfumes, heh? always thought women with too much on were the worst, until I experienced a plane flight with a man on board, possibly a foreigner. oh dear Lord! the flight attendant had to move me as far away as possible, I was getting horribly sick - ended up in 1st class, stretched out with cold compresses on my face and I could still smell it and was still reacting badly! I was getting horrid headache and then I started vomiting. a plane is the worst, recirculating air and no where to run....
HOWDY HOWDY HOWDY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
