It's hard NOT to hear about your rock obsession, Lynnie. That's what people bring me when they go on vacation. I used to collect sand, but got a little much. So now everyone brings me little stones. Or big rocks (well, not too big).
I have a piece of the Rock of Gibraltar, too.
Last year my DH carried this huge rock with fossils all over it up from the valley in Zoar Valley, which is a camping/hiking site south of Buffalo. It got flooded this year though. landscape is completely changed. I'm talking FEMA flooded.
You can tell we're slow today at work. (too cold to swim & too warm to snow) And I have no ambition to find a project.
BORN BEFORE THE WIND...more Gypsy Stories
Smiley, I am not into sports. But I get excited seeing just a little rough piece of a fossil in any ordinary rock here. It is amazing how many million years old they are!
Venice - not even the Indy 500?? I don't blame you. The only sport I really love is baseball.
You would love Penn-Dixie, then. It's the sea bed south of Buffalo I mentioned in a previous post. It's only open for digging Sat 7am - 12pm. It's really fun. Go in with your little picks & shovels & buckets. Mostly shell-type fossils and trilobytes. We were famous one day. We found a whole trilobyte. Apparently they rolled up when they sensed danger. Ours was whole and flat. We had people asking to see it. A shale base, so easy to dig.
Smiley, I do listen to the 500 on the radio and watch some of it on TV later in the day. I sit at my desk with the list of all the drivers and try to mark down their position during the race. I like to watch the pre-show interviews also. People are so excited! I went to one Time Trial about 30 years ago. Paul Newman was there with his crew. Other than that, I baked in the sun and it was pretty boring. Zoom, Zoom, then wait . . . Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, wait and wait. They wiz by so fast.
my bro's got to go one year in the late '60's. my dad lived there.
Did they take a camper, camp out in the infield, fix all types of food, drink beer? lol
Moon are you there? I have a plant question.
Not my Dad's style. More of a mixed drink kind of a guy.
LOL!
Hey Dave flip those chairs over I have been teased enough, on my way!!!
Afternoon venice, smiley, and lynnie
Sure Venice I'll send ya some seed....seems to be plenty of it out there..how about either celosia, coneflower, or moss rose, you decide...I still have to get Trina's address too. heading back outside soon, so I'll get more seeds. That agastache smells so good I'd roll in it if it weren't for the bees!
I don't really like to watch any sport on TV, but I'm up for a baseball or hockey game anytime.
Lynnie, just send me a D-mail with your address.
JJ, are you still there?
Nice passiflora, Trina!
Yea venice I am now for a few minutes. Had to get homework started
So Trina, your is inside growing UP? Mine is outside hanging DOWN. I was trying to figure out what to do with it when I bring it in. Our sunroom is unheated, but facing south. I paid $35 for it, no way I'm gonna just let it die without trying to keep it alive.
Lynnie, Moon are one of you around???
I need an anatomy lesson.

Good afternoon Everybody.....Guess what? It is raining .....big surprise.....I was so excited to see sunshine this morning. I just knew it was going to be a beautiful day. Got the first shower around 10:30.....I think this is number 5 or 6 today...if this keeps up I am gonna have to tarp the orchids or they will start rotting from all the wet. Okay, gripe session over.
How is everybody today? Venice, how can i help you?
Yes Ma'am JJs. What's up?
It is about my lilies JJ gave me. I didn't realize the soil around them was so loose. When I watered them a pond was created at least 1" deep! I dug a wide channel to drain off the water. The mud is sitting on my patio. Such a pretty sight!
I will have to add soil around the lilies. But they are already planted pretty low. Should I dig them up and add soil? So the lilies won't be so deep in the soil.
What is on the right side, down low, that would cause pain while laying down??
appendix
right side down low in the front or the back?
Venice, just make sure the crown of the lily is at soil level and all should be fine. Otherwise you wind up with crown rot.
JJs, to the front of the lower right side could be appendix, to the back could be kidney.
sharp pain or dull ache?
Thanks venice. Now I can worry.
I went over to help my friend and she was laying on the couch complaing of pain.Said it was low on her right side but when she walked around it got better. Then she sat down to eat and started hurting again.
Shes stubborn said she was 80 and wasn't going to the DR.
For Smiley and Moon,
http://www.itzarion.com/pain-symptoms-chart.html
It was toward the front she was holding her hand about where a beer belly would hang over a belt.
She really didn't say if it was sharp or dull I just her her kinda moan every once in awhile.
Moon, I think I better dig them up, put in some more soil, and then replant them. I was afraid of that. I will do it in the morning when it is cool outside. Thanks.
Smiley, did you look at that link? Good info!!
Oh and she said she was having problems with diarrhea the last day or so.
JJs, that is way too generalized an area. There is so much crammed into that area, including intestines, and could be anything from gas pains to something major. Not knowing any med history makes it dangerous to play guessing games. If she will not do willingly, then all you can do is watch out for her and keep phone close by for 911.
Hey Julie I wouldn't just let them go at $35 either! what color is yours? I have 2 one is on a trellis and this one I showed the bloom of will be in a hanging planter...gonna make runners so it will go across a ceiling
I wasn't really looking for a diagnosis. Just not good with that kind of anatomy and wondered what was there that might cause it
She has had lots of medical problems that would make it impossible to guess. She thought maybe it was intestinal but she had an obstruction once before.
I will go out and check on her later, and call frequently. If its not better tomorrow I'll call the Dr. and let her holler a me for it.
Thanks for the help everyone.
Hi all!!! I'm excited, finally got a name for the tree I found and dug up. Moon you may remember me talking about it. It's a Strawberry bush or Bursting Heart. Here is the link if ya want to see the different phases it goes through: http://pick4.pick.uga.edu/mp/20q?search=Euonymus+americanus I also picked up a snowball bush to plant and a box of tomatoes to can. Man why do I do this to myself? Too many projects lol
Does Native mean extinct or just what?
If it is native to NC, that means it originally grows from NC
Hey JJ,Venice,Smileymom, Trina and anyone else. Didn't mean to interupt your discussion. Sorry about your neighbor hope she is ok.
Thanks Venice, I thought that was what it meant but wasn't sure.
Question!
Clematis seeds from a plant this summer, do they need to go in the fridge before they are planted? Or not. If so, how long?
