Kassy have you ever moved a ballon flower? Mine got to big for where I planted them but I thought I read somewhere they don't transplant very well.
I think it was because they have like a taproot?

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

I didn't get seeds from the pink one last year, but I plan on it this year.........I have seeds from the blue one from last year.

JJ I also read that they don't transplant well or breaking apart the bulbs doesn't sit well with the plant. That's why I collected seeds, to try them out.

Kassy, such nice ballon flowers! Last year was the first time I saw them when I bought a plant. I think buds are so cool. And all of a sudden, it blooms!

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Maybe I'll have to move the bush instead.
Seeds Hmmmm

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh, they are so tall and blue! Just gorgeous! I think mine must have been minature ones. If you have just a few seeds, I would love to have some. I would be happy with 4 seeds. I am sorry I don't have anything I could trade back because mine are so ordinary.

Venice don't count on them being dwarf.

When I first planted mine they were short. Every year they seem to get taller. Now they are to big for the spot they are in. Looks like I put square peg in round hole.

they seed? wow everyday I learn more about what I didn't know I didn't know

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Yes, they seed. you have to wait for the pod to dry and open again..........LOL
Getting ready to pop!

Send me your address venice, I know I have some of last years seeds and from looking at that plant, I will probably have a ton this year...........well not quite a ton

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

me too Kassy? Please? I'll send you some stuff back too....like my dianthus seeds...and maybe sneak in one of these "gifts" hehehehe

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kassy, it seems like yours are different then mine. You have so many growing on one tall stalk. That is what I like about them and of course the color. If you can spare just 4 seeds, that would make me very happy.

I have some Rudbeckia triloba, yellow celosia, autumn fire sedum, and lamb's ears seeds if you would be interested.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

yes trina, you too.
BF on messenger, so I will be back ^_^

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I googled again. The old fashioned ones (as they called them) get 3-4 ft tall.
The newer ones (one is called setimental blue) are shorter about 18". I think thats what I have it's not as dark blue as Yours.

Gold star for me

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

JJ, you are right. I have/had the sentimental blue balloons. They sure are not as stunning as the tall ones.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kassy, were you the one that have those very deep red dianthus that have many blooms on one stem?

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Maybe you have the same one I do venice. Is it a lighter blue?
This is a bad pic cause they were falling over

I feel smart...kwanjin taught me a new word!!!!!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Yes, that is what I had. I bet they only had about a dozen blooms. They were over run with tomatoes and sweet potato vines.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

No venice they sure aren't. Don't hardly look like the same flower, thats why I googled thought maybe mine wasn't what I thought it was.
Didn't want a dunce cap after I made it to the head of the class.LOL

Kassy has all the good stuff. She's not that far away girls she could deliver 'em, plant 'em, and we could send her home with those flowers that grow in the wrong places he BF likes

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)
