No storm yet...sunny and 69 right now. That Hawiian Pearl is gorgeous!

'Red Rum' started blooming around the 1st week in July and has been blooming right along. Can't even call it a re-bloomer as it never stopped!

NICE!
Hey Phoebe what is that purple one in post 7051425?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Um jen, look just above the picture.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Jen--That is Hawiian Pearl--An African violet. It is a trailer--this one is still a baby--and the color is slightly off--it's more purple than depicted

Pixie is sooooo pretty! I think I like poppys--LOL. Have never grown them though. Jen--a closer look at the flowers--pics don't do them justice--at least not with me and my little camera. I was right--I want a better camera already! Still have so much to learn first though.

Gorgeous blooms, ladies!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Love that deep dark purple!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Me too.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Still luving this thread(s). Thanks for posting. Pixie are you perchance collecting seed from your lavender-pink-later lupine (hint, hint)? As usual, googleguy is being a weiner brain and comes up with nada about later lupines sigh. Dmail coming your way.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

A house nearby with a gorgeous crape. Look forward to seeing it each year.

Is that the crepe myrtle's natural form Victor or do you have to prune it to look like that? (Of course I need to know this cuz I SO can have one in my zone) Really, truly I wonder if it would grow in AZ or NM? Poppin off to the southern forums. Back in a blink.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Probably trimmed some suckers and bottom side-shoots.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Puff, puff back from the south. It does! It does! Just entered this beauty in the Great Book of lists. Thanks Victor.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I love the look of African violets but don't have a place for them in the house.

That is some crape!

Thomaston, CT

What great photos---love the lespedza---must attract butterflies like the butterfly bush this time of year----and Pixie, you have more DLs blooming! I only have one with a bud or 2---must order more late ones from Olallie. The rain has beaten down everything out there today.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Victor, love that gorgeous crape. I planted one in your honor after seeing the photo's of the ones along your drive. I bought a Lagerstroemia indica 'White Chocolate' from Fairweather in the spring of 2008. It appeared dead this spring, but I left it in place and did a little happy dance around it and it now has all kinds of new growth around its base. I just hope it was growing on its on root stock. I will hopefully see it bloom next year.

Now if I could just grow a poppy.

Here is Hydrangea Penny Mac that seems to have gotten a late start, but one site said it bloomed into the fall. Nice color and size. The bee is happy. Me too. Patti

Good to hear. That's one that has not grown much for me but it definitely gets way too much shade. I have to move it.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

The lespedza and the crepe--gorgeous! The hydrange looks so soft and cuddly!

Ahem!....How come no one noticed Victor misspelled "crepe"? Wha--where are you--it's payback time already! LOL

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

That's because Victor has a crap myrtle. Different tree.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not misspelled! Alternate, acceptable spelling. 'Crepe' is more common in the South. So there! ^_^

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Ok y'all.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

thanks for the thought there almost had them

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Celeste, I love the Red Rum!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

But--but--but--we live in the North! http://www.fast-growing-trees.com/CrapeMyrtles.htm
