You can see that these buds were right there--just as the blooms were finishing up.

Here's the first bloom (that I caught) on my Moon Vine.
I saw the bud earlier this evening--but then got busy and forgot to go watch it open.

Funny! All the petals were still all wrinkled from being in the tight bud!

That's all that I have new to show you.....

Lady, That bat photo is awesome. I've never seen any "Just hangin' out"!

Gita, Glad you found some takers for the Brugs.

Jen, Very nice shots. Is that Iris a Dwarf?

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

Jen, your BES looks like my Blushing Susie Vine. Did you grow it from seed? I think that it is my favorite vine because there are so many blooms, they stay open all day and last for many days and the leaves are not huge.

Gita, you sure have a way with brugs. Mine are just making a few blooms now.

Lady, your bats don't seem to bother you a bit. I am originally a city suburb person, so it takes me a while to get used to all the critters. My first experience with bats here was last year when I started opening the umbrellas on the deck so that my sleep over guests could enjoy breakfast outside. When I did, these things dropped to the floor and looked up at me with their little red mouths grimacing and showing white teeth. I think that I woke up the whole quiet neighborhood. There were so many of them!!

Today I have Joseph's coat mingling with Jasmine Sambac.

Roses--
I don't do anything special with my Brugs....I am just as blown away as you all are.
I think they are blooming their silly heads off because they are hopelessly root-bound. That works many times for plants....

Both of my big ones have not been re-potted in 3 years. They are solid roots!

The iris does look like a dwarf. I can't remember who gave me that one. Someone on the NE forum, I need to check my paperwork.

Yes Roses, the BES vines were from seeds

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

I like the yellow rim on that Iris.

Oops I was wrong, not a dwarf, intermediate 24"

Stormy and RRR . The bat picture was taken at Disney World's Animal Kingdom they are Giant Fruit Bats I think fromThailand. They always draw a crowd. They remind me so much of Bela Lugosi when the land on the ropes and wrap those large wings around themselves.
I get those little brown bats in the house from time to time. They just fly around and we catch them with a fishing net or a towel if they land on the curtains. But I would scream too if they started falling on me.

Here is another picture of the Fruit bats.

This Aster Alma Potsche is almost 4' tall. I had to stake it.

Here's some vibrant fall color.

I like the color of this newly planted mum. It seems that almost none of my yellow mums from last year made it through the winter.

The Montauk Daisies are in full bloom now.

Wow, the aster colors!! The cheap mums I just got are planted in that very peaty mix that goes from sponge to brick and back. I doubt I have any chance of getting them to live.
I goofed up my Montauk daisies by cutting back too late! Few buds.

Here's another Daylily blooming at a strange time. This was newly planted in August. It's called Coral Masterpiece.

Sally, all of my mums and Asters are cheap plants. They range from $.80 to $1.50. I made the same mistake with my mums.

I think this is the Monkshood that I got from Miata.

Most of the Echies keep putting out new blooms and the Salvia Black & Blue keeps getting bigger and Bluer.

The White Profusion Buddleia keeps putting out more bloom.

I have to believe the consistant rain this summer is showing us the fact daylilies will second bloom. I would not like to pay the fiddler for sprinkler water to mimic mother. I have at least three varieties showing me a rare second bloom. The few that are designed to do that are not included in this interesting happening.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

I planted 4 of these Alstroemeria this summer and they were all looking like they were at death's door. One had a very small bloom, but now they are all looking very healthy.

Doc, that may be true of where this daylily came from, central penna., but not here in my dry as dust bed. I've not had significant amounts of rain and that bed is always bone dry because of the Maples.

I can't remember the name of this shrub. It has tiny blooms.

Then it puts out white berries.

These Agastache Blue Fortune are going gangbusters. I have 6 of these.
They are short this first year at only 24". They are supposed to get 3 to 4' tall.

I am enjoying the colors of this new Geranium Pink Penny. It mostly looks lavender now and almost no pink.

This new Aster is called Wood's Light Blue. Look at how those Gloriosa Daisies are still going.

quoe:
I can't remember the name of this shrub.
I just fell out of my chair. What are the odds of stormyla doing that? Hey when you DO remember 5 000 other plants names in your yard, you can miss one once in a while
Interesting point doc makes on re blooming. I have a lot of Stella Doro which are not re blooming, last I saw them was mid summer with every other DL.
I had a number of amaryllis overwinter outside ok but none ever bloomed this summer. I just don't fertilize them as much as I should tho.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

I'm not sure which Hydrangea this is.

LOL, Sally. I usually take the time to look up the names, but not this morning. Have a lot to do today. My Stella are still blooming, but not as much as normal. They seriously need dividing, but I'm not sure if I should do it this late.

This Anemone came from RCN. I think it was called Honore something or other.

Thumbnail by stormyla

I enjoy the blooms on these Toad Lilies, Gilt Edged, also from RCN. I dislike that the foliage gets so ratty just about the time that the blooms start.

Here's a couple of Stella blooms. This bed is also very dry, another reason that the Mums do well there. This one was a 3' pot in Spring of 08.

I love this Soldiago, another one that I can't find the Cultivar name for. I'd like to have it as I would like to get a few more of these. Might post it on the ID forum.
