Truly hope the rapist is caught, Audrey. Check those windows at night.

Oh my Cindy.... now we don't expect you to live a life of a recluse. Seek more friends, don't limit yourself to 2 since you're not ready for a serious relationship.

Trisha, I learnt Ikebana in school and it's perfect for my simple mind. The zen of floral arrangement, but I call it the lazy way!!
Lol!!
E.G: Take one crysenthemum, have it nestled between leaves set at different angles.. of course using a 'frog' and the vase 'pleasantly' oppose the flower composition... stand back and when you see the shape and line coming together....you're done!!
I know.. it is more than that... but I love the lush European/American form of arranging flowers. Makes me feel much alive!

Talking of being alive. Hey Maid M... I see you!!! You have a wonderful weekend too. Doing anything different this time?

LK, I had begged Kel for us to take a trip to Joanne's tomorrow. It's about a one and a half hour's journey, and he's reluctant.
You saved our marriage sistah! Thanks for the link, now I can shop from my armchair!
First thing in my cart will be more 45mm blades!!!

Susan, I do hope customs don't decide to confiscate the rice. If they do, they better cook them!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hahahaha Jaye - I thought it was the seasoning only, not the rice too?!

As i said before......... it'll get here when it gets here ^_^
I always get told to "take a chill pill" now I get to do the same thing roflmfbo!
Take a Chill Pill, Jaye LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Chill pill????
Hey, I think I'll fix myself a tall 7berry!! Diet 7up with cranberry juice. It's potent enough to take me to a 'high' zone!!

Mahatma Saffron rice packs come with the rice!

Anybody want a puppy?
We spotted a mama dog with 6 pups under an abandoned house in town. This is our 3rd day of feeding them. Where they're at, there's a large area for them to romp, but too close to the roads.
Might bring them over to the our 'appliance gravesite' where they'll be much safer, if we could catch them!

Be back in a few.. time to feed the pups!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Jaye, the other guys that want chat with me won't post their pix, so until they do I won't chat with them.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't blame you Cindy, you need to be cautious!

Here is a free pattern to make your own slippers!

http://theflyingneedle.net/Pages/free_pattern.htm

Ladies, you all have a happy, and safe 3 day week-end!

LK

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hehehehehe yeah, Jaye - chill pill LOL

awwwwwwwwww puppies!!! Do you have pics of the wee darlings? What kind are they?

Smart gal, Cindy! If they won't share pics, then you don't share chat lol

LK - thanks for the link - always wanted to make my own slippers! What a great pattern! I love it! ^_^

Jayne is out to save all those abondoned furbabies. They do need a good start in life. ^_^

Ah just got home from having a wonderful Mexican dinner!! Going to check my threads then I have promised myself an early night tonight. Only thing different that I plan to do this weekend is mow the grass and possibly go check out the mums at the nursery. Otherwise, sorting more "junk" to help with the downsizing here.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Evenin all
rehearsal and dinner went well everyone is gone and will be trickling back 9am til 10:30 am for those in the wedding and guests arriving

wedding takes place at noon
have to get the cake picked up at 10:30 and also have to do the hair for my 2 nieces and be ready myself ...hahahahaha
get table clothes on tables and baskets and flowers out and get pictures of everything LOL

now off to finish up a few things tonight and hit the bed long day tomorrow

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

The pups are still too wary to come out when we're close by, Susan. Don't know whethere we'll be able to catch them. But we'll keep leaving food and clean water for them until they can trust us.

Pegi, a few days ago, we saw a bitch scavenged for food, and I told Kel she looked like she just had puppies. Soon later, we saw her in front of that abandoned house and since then, she never had to worry about food.
She's a long hair mutt kinda mid-size. Haven't got close enough to check her out. I am pretty sure she's dropped off cause we know the town's dogs and this one here is certainly new.

We should have had Mexican instead of hot dogs, Maid M. Now our stomaches are paying for it!
Was at Lowe's this morning, and there were tables and tables of mums. A gorgeous deep purple wisteria called me... but Kel for the first time told me no. He says they're invasive.
Oh well........

Cindy, good luck with Larry. If he doesn't mind his mother being in the picture, then I'd say he's okay in my books.

And GOOD LUCK to you too Phyllis!! Hope the weather co-operates and all goes well. We'll wait on pictures! I bet you'd be the most beautiful Mother Of the Bride!!

Going to bed.. see you all in the morning.

This was a Sage Day. We got all my watercolor stuff sorted, the palette cleaned and new paint put in. then we drew off a pattern of two little ducks that we are painting...Sage is doing very well at following along...this is a slower project than she is used to...she said by painting with me she is learning patience. It will take a few visits before we have her painting done, but will definitely post it when it is finished.

We met Bill and Uncle Shawn for lunch then went shopping. We got Sage a storage case, watercolor paper and her own brushes to use when we paint.....does that child ever have energy....I don't think she was still for thirty seconds all day!

Dropped her off at her house then went to JoAnn's and picked up some things mom needed, a few sheets of good watercolor paper and a tube of Indian yellow paint that they didn't have at Michael's.

Last thing was a trip by Trader Joe's for Pesto Tortellini, Bread and Salad Greens for dinner....and Ginger Cats. (little cat shaped ginger cookies...uuummm good!) Also got us Cinnamon Raisin Bread and Peanut butter for breakfast.

So there is the entire day in a nutshell and I am exhausted. But we did have a fun day together.

Have a good night everyone....

sweet dreams sweet sisters. i'm back up but not for long. today was long day - sinuses still good. still craved soup - maybe it's the cool weather. took out the turkey soup in the freezer from Christmas. yum!

been tasked by baby sis to do stuff with Mom tomorrow. she wants a TV lounge chair for their new place and found a Lazyboy she likes, but that store only has one, we need two. going searching for a mate. and has her eyes on some antique mahogany furniture down at a dealer in Clinton NC. so Randall and I will do a trash run, a little mowing, and take her all around the place, with their suburban and my pickup, in case she buys stuff. sounds like it's going to be a long day but fun.

Good morning sistahs!
Body doesn't want to co-operate with my mind this morning. It has been an unusually busy week and it looks like it will stay like this throughout next week.
I've always marvel at Trisha for sacrificing her time for her family and even a neighbour... and now I pray that Kel's patience and especially tolerance continues.

Synda, please keep us posted on Rachel's condition. We'll keep her in our prayers, along with Michael too. Do they have any kids?

And so, Sage's active introduction into the fine arts world continues.... and what better teacher than her own grandma! She is indeed one lucky child. So astute, already realized that controlled brushstrokes require patience!!! I can see her now.. shifting feet.. mind trying to still thoughts.. Soon we'll see Sage's first watercolor masterpiece. Wonder if she'll just stick to clay art :D Hope not!

Have fun Donna at the sweetcorn festival. If they have corn ice-cream, try some. That's a popular in some Asian countries along with coconut, red beans, jack fruit, durian and of course, mango.

Juanita, Kel will try to coax them out today. But where they're at, I'm sure at least some town residents have noticed them. Hopefully, some can't resist and bring home a couple.

Never made my own slippers. Always a first time right? Will you be trying that pattern, LK?
Now to look for skid-proof feet or non-skid fabric. Hope I can find that at my quilting store.

Bonnie, good luck on the furniture shopping.

To go with Donna's coffee.
How about some Sour Cream Coffee cake.
Here's the recipe.

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Preparation:
Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Beat in sour cream and vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; stir into creamed mixture.
In another bowl, combine cinnamon, sugar, and chopped pecans. Grease a tube pan and dust with flour. Pour half of the batter into the pan; sprinkle with half of the nut mixture. Add remaining batter; sprinkle with remaining nut mixture. Bake coffeecake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.

I have a crafting question, should I use hot glue or tacky glue to glue moss on a birdhouse? I'm thinking hot glue but not too sure.

I have found that clear silicone does better than hot glue, that stuff never comes off. When I make birdhouses out of wicker baskets that is what I use to seal the top so rain doesn't get in.
And no Jaye, they have no kids. They just moved in together a month or so ago.

edit for sp....LOL

Morning Donna…hope you all have a good weekend.

Good bit of rain last night…more predicted for today…..yes LK up to a foot of snow predicted but that is in the high mountains…we do like to see early mountain snow, but only in the mountains…a part of the Alpine Experience deals in ski sales and rentals so snow is good. We are supposed to get rain through the weekend with temps in the mid to upper 60’s then back to our summer again.

Synda I hate those things…the last time we were in OK for a visit my second cousins best friends were out and hit a rock in the trail …..thoughts and Prayers definitely being sent for Rachael and her family.

A safe weekend here…can’t get into too much trouble with watercolors and paint brushes…would love to try and paint some of the rain clouds I can see out the front window.

Jaye, Sage is having fun with painting, but I don’t think she will completely give up the clay either.

Oh I do remember the red bean desserts…they were really good!

Everyone have a good weekend…be happy, be safe….

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Here's something for you bakers ^_^

God's Cake

Sometimes we wonder, "What did I do to deserve this?" or "Why did God have
to do this to me?" Here is a wonderful explanation! A daughter is telling
her Mother how everything is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.
Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would
like a snack, and the daughter says, "Absolutely Mom, I love your cake."
"Here, have some cooking oil," her Mother offers.
"Yuck" says her daughter.
"How about a couple raw eggs?" "Gross, Mom!"
"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"
"Mom, those are all yucky!"
To which the mother replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by
themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a
wonderfully delicious cake!"
God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through
such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things
all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and,
eventually, they will all make something wonderful!
God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise
every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.

wonderful words and thoughts, Susan.

my prayers for Rachel on their way to her family. darn it all, there was a deer, in broad daylight, munching on my garden an hour ago - wish we could do more to get rid of them. those pesky things caused Rachel to crash? ARGH.

here's to cake!

Mom did not want to go to Clinton to see mahogany antiques. she wants a LazyBoy Highleg Jules 904 ocean blue recliner NOW, not four weeks from now when the order comes in..... I'm online all over 3 states looking for who has it in stock. the prices are amazing - they start at $1400 and go down to $850!!! for brand new. just depends on where ya live, which store. the one 3 blocks from me has it for $1300. she doesn't want to pay that price. the store in Garner (10 miles away) was $850, but they sold it before she got there.

wish me luck

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good Luck bonbon - the fates will treat you well, I'm sure ^_^

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Update on Rachel...They have her in a drug induced coma to try and prevent brain swelling. They won't know to much about what damage was done to the brain until they bring her out of it.The rest of her body is OK,it her head that is bad.Micheal is a basket case,he came home just long enough to shower and change clothes.

The deer jumped off the bank right in front of her.By the way the deer died, and so did the 4 Wheeler that is only a few months old.

Raleigh, NC

dear dead = venison
4 wheeler dead = c'est la vie
Rachel dead or messed up for life at her age = Oh Lord, be with your child and heal her.......

Jaye, you comment about Kel being forebearing of you.... last night, I awoke at 1am, fell asleep, again, on the sofa. (beginning to think it's his snoring that awakens me) again, I awoke at 5am, took my first meds and went to bed. just as I drifted off to sleep, Randall turns over, sound asleep, and talks loudly in my face, "in a box" ...and then is quiet. (he does this, not usually 6" from my nose) now I'm wide awake, wondering what box? which box? where? what's in it? and just as my brain quiets and drifts away, he starts snoring so loud in my face it's like a freight train... I got up and went back to the sofa! went to sleep. was awakened by my phone alarm ringing? I had set it yesterday for 7:30, and it didn't go off. instead, it went off at 6 am today! heard Randall huffing, puffing and yelling in the bedroom. grinned to myself, turned over on the sofa and immediately fell back asleep. that's my meds alarm. don't know when, but sometime before 6:20, here he is at my side all grumpy, trying to hand me my first meds, he's got a shirt on but no bottoms. says I growled at him that I'd taken it. he was trying to be such a good DH, and trying to entice me back to the bedroom! instead, grumbles and whines loudly all the way back....LOL what a comedy of .....well, not errors....and, no, I didn't notice no bottoms......slept on the sofa until 9:40. THEN he brings me a phone, says to call my mom, and then pesters me until I end the call....in the bedroom...

some days, MEN! just simple MEN! enough said.

I could use a nap right now

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

omygosh, Synda! I've just been reading the posts! I'm not surprised Michael is a basket case.........
Deer can be very dangerous........
my thoughts & prayers are with you all! Here's a couple of Guardian Angels for you.
