across from that corner I have a huge tub agaisnt the fence with datura purple metel, fuschia 4 oclocks, cherry tomatoes, tall benarys white zinnias, and a hanging pot where I have the star of india blooming , behind it is lobata, which at first I thought was the chinese evening glory, but it isn't .. it is the heaviest vine I have ever seen of lobata, but I will have to wait until it blooms to be sure.. here is a bloom from the datura purple double and triples ..Thanks Caren and Rob on Dg for sending me those..
My morning glory Adventures End of August time
Here is that area, looking east, and if you look closer, you can see the Ivy growing up the house back there above the unused umbrella, in full bloom, second year in 25 years living here that has happened for me.. east of that grouping on the fence there, are two other morning glory curtains, chinese bean hiyacynth, and then some tropicals at the bottom, and some monardas and cestrums..
inbetween the four oclocks, the mg curtains, and the purple spires and daiseys, are these two plants.. one is from seed, I watered too hard and the top broke off, so now I have two brugs from seed I started in winter, ( the top is fine now) and the other is an I. carnea from Lazlo i started in winter.. thanks Lazlo! and thanks Brenda, for the brug seeds..
oh, u can see an ensign blue plant in the I. carnea pot as well I started from seed , it hasn't bloomed yet.. and might not.. that area is part shade..
This is also behind the tomatoe patch agaisnt the house, under the tall flowers, in the shade.. a basket I put together with some coleus seeds, some celosia and some yes.. tomatoe seeds.. this basket was supposed to be sold at a sale, but I have them all still.. I have alot of baskets I filled with soil and seeds, they are all full now everywhere.. I have given so many away, and have so many left.. I am pulling plants from these various baskets for trades now.. (edited to spell tomatoe) LOL I love tomatoes,, all kinds of them..

Last Post tonight.. I have to work tommorrow.. come home, get the yard and plants ready to live without me for a week.. *sigh* I have been teaching the ten year old neighbor girl how to water and care for plants.. she seems to like it, the neighbors to the south of me that I have been complaining about on these posts.. the mom and dad taking turns to tour the gardens with me as I teach their daughter how to tend to plants, and now we are all friends, go figure,, they are now cleaning up their back yard, I have already planted things in their front yard, after ten years we have spoke more in three days than we ever have. I have told them about their cats, their limbs from their unkempt trees, told them I have thrown seeds over their fence to make the vines grow thick, and they said they are glad I am their neighbor.. *sigh* the old saying" if you can't beat them join them" has come true, and I am glad I stopped her as she was getting out of her car while I was watering the other night to ask her if her daughter would be interested in earning 50.00 to care for my yard, and she showed up, I told her we had to train all week, and we have been training..she didn't know how to hold a water hose..now she is an expert at the multispray hose nozzle..knows all the tricks misting, jet stream, and all of it.... and now I have three new friends, who are into morning glorys.. I gave her the Coke basket full of iris, zinnia babies and three mg vines growing up a branch from their back yard that had fallen into mine, since her daughter told me she loved CocaCola things. I thought it would be appropiate. I am glad I like to talk.. have a great day today!
Great pics of your yard in bloom Debra. I love the story re your
neighbors, the reluctant gardeners, and their about face, wonderful news.
I'm loving Roman Candy... and that variegation, Deb! Beautiful! I really like the "Reluctant Gardeners" story.. how wonderful.. you get attention to your plants while you're away and 'new' neighbors when you come home.. I'm so glad for you all.
I am a big-time lurker here on DG and the MG forum.. everyone has such beautiful blooms and vines.. I so enjoy all the pics. I went on a drive for native MG seeds yesterday...I could only find ONE pod and it wasn't dry...Think it is too early? .... I hope not too late!
Anyway, I feel Deb's absence so I thought I would post on her thread. Deb? Take your laptop??? :) Think we need to plan an adventure before the RU? We can make both our MG spots (oh, and the one by the waterfalls, too) in one day, we'll need to stay focused.. lol
Here is a bloom from a plant Deb gave me.. I think someone told that bee to "go to the light".. lol He's really spreading the pollen around!
AuntB - Great shot! Nice bloom ... Deb is awesome to spread the plant wealth around, isn't she?! :-) I bet her garden will have all new plants blooming when she returns! :-) And that is a great story about her neighbors! That's what I call a happy ending ... :-) The young girl who is taking care of her plants may be Deb's new garden buddy. Wouldn't that be neat if she became a mentor to this young lady! Teach the future generations of our planet the value of every living thing.
Darren - Ooooh! Nice higes! Looks like flowers you'd see at a wedding or celebration! Beautiful!
Don't ya just love how water affects the color of the blooms? Too cool! Did I ever send you any of the Purple Flaked I. purpurea seeds? I have seeds for the Pink Flaked too. If you grow out both a hige vine again next year and one of the Flakes, you could try crossing those two to get a Flaked Hige! Am I giving you some ideas to try next year??? LOL! ;-)
こんにちわ 弾立ち,
Jon

((Deb!)) Wild Bindweed... still IS pretty... I collected one (pre-mature?) unidentified pod (may be a bind weed?) over by Henry's near Lawerence, a VERY cool old barn pic, lots of wild flower pics and a few more buckeyes (and saw lots of other cool plant and wildlife) on my outing the other day (Sis went with).. it was the only seed pod I could find.. up and down on both sides.. I think it's too early? Birds got them before me?...nice rain coming in this a.m. - bet you are getting rain at your home, too. Between nature and your new-found friends, I know your garden is in fine shape. MG's all blooming so pretty this morning with the cloud cover. fernman, that is really a pretty bloom! Debra - LOL! I'm telling you ... these glories have a mind and schedule of their own! Sometimes they save the best for last! LOL! They are beautiful! I hope they have time to make seed pods. When does your weather start getting cooler?
not until end of October, sometimes thanksgiving is pretty warm these days..
PODS? I got pods out the kazookies.. trying to keep them straight is only easy on the ones I have marked. I am making alot of MIX bags of I. Purps, and I. nils.. I will tag this vine as Purple Blizzard if you are sure that is what it looks like LOL
What is this one???
I am pretty sure that one is Purple Blizzard. I have no idea from your photo what the unknown pretty pinks are.
