ok peeps... I have this idea, but first let me ask this:

Who here has heard of 'Flat Stanley'?

are you at it again ...Flat Stanley? Are we going to fly kites?

Or maybe just slip under a door? I want to know what's on the other side anyway! LOL!

Just kidding cue. He is a character in a childrens book. Jeff Brown wrote the books, there are several of them. What about him?

Well, today is my daughter Heather's 16th birthday, she's going to get her license (omg) and my son (18) came to me a little bit ago and said he wants to go in the Air Force and for me to get him to a recruiter asap.. he broke up with his girlfriend last night because she's been kissing other boys behind his back and Courtney (14) found out last night that this boy she really likes has been smoking behind her back.. TEENAGERS! AAAHHH! Gonna go take 'em for Pizza and give 'em lots of love today

I had sort of a 'game' in mind that had to do with 'Flat Stanley' .. or more like 'Gilda Gardener'.. still trying to work out the jest of it all, but wanted to make sure that the majority knew who and what 'Flat Stanley' was.

Had no idea about Flat Stanley. Mekos has enlightened me. LOL

You hoo...I have seeds delivered here..Only mailing address names so I cant say thank you to you all as I don't know what your DG names are....But thank You lots of Seeds....

ok.. here is a rough idea of an ongoing game i have thought of....

mind you.. its is still a work in progress...

the idea:

Start a thread titled 'The Adventures of Gilda Gardener'

if you are familiar with 'Flat Stanley' then you know the basics. Gilda gardener would be a cartoonish character drawn on poster board and cut out. the idea is to pick a random person from the list (or just random), Slip Gilda in a bubble envy along with one pack of 'mystery seed' and mail her off across the country. when she arrives, the recipient then takes her out... finds a suitable spot in the garden (or wherever... garden center, park, shopping mall, restaurant) and Takes a pic of Gilda during her 'travels across the Country' and posts the pic here as if Gilda were writing the letter herself ie:

" Gilda here! Arrived in New Orleans today, luggage packed with (insert name of seed here). My hostess, jane Doe was kind enough to show me around new Orleans. here is a pic of me on Bourbon Street..." yada yada yada.

No one will know who got the bubble envy with Gilda until they post the pic... the recipient then packs Gilda up with another pack of seed and ships her off tot he next person.... and so forth and so on.. but you cant tell anyone who you are sending Gilda too...

So are you going to take names? Will you post the possible names to send to? Will they list on the address exchange so we can find the addresses?

yeah, the rules wiil include that in order be part of the fun, you must list your address in the address exchange, otherwise we cannot send to you... and there is no dmailing to let you know.. its supposed to be a surprise.

I will keep track of who has 'hosted' Gilda... and remove them from the possible list of names.

ya just pick a random one...LOL.

at the end (or a certain point), Gilda will be sent back to me cuz I want to collect all the pics of where Gilda Gardener has been... and put them in small albums and send one to each person who participated int he game (depending on how many people participate.. or.. we could do a Round Robin.. each of us put together a 'travel' book and send off to the other whatever).. or split that project up wth someone.. either way.. i want everyone to have a small 4 x 6 album with Pics of Gilda an a small note of what each pic is about!

and while Gilda travels, she will take a packet od seed to her next hostess... so when she arrives, its like a double surprise!

I will possibly post the sign up this evening. draw Gilda out and cut her out (oh, BTW.. will make paper clothes for Gilda.. so that her 'Hostess' can dress her accordng to weather and situation...hehehe) so she may come with some of the following...

coat and hat (if its cold), shorts (for hanging out) , hawwaiin top (for those palm tree states), sunglasses, long pants, skirts, little black dress (for the restaurant), jeans and t-shirt (for gardening outdoors or picnics).

I thought this would be kinda a fun 'community' project.. and funny to see what sorts of situatins everyone puts Gilda in... and where all she travels too!

How about no clothes for when she travels to Phoenix and it's 115? ROTFLOL!

OH CUE, That is a great Idea. I LOVE IT!!!! You are so talented! Only you would have thunk all this up. You go Gilda! I can't believe how cool this is. I'd have to take her to the Clemson college to meet the students there. She would love that. OH, really cool Cue!!!!!

ok, Im gonna get working on this this weekend... hopefully will have Gilda done and ready to send out by next weekend, in the meantime.. i will start a thread

You should write a childrens book on Gildas adventures. I bet it would be a success. She should go all around the states and several different places for each person who gets her, can take lots of pictures, then we send the pictures to you, Cue or pass them on with Gilda? I think to you would be better so you could be putting it together. OH, pick me, pick me, pick me. I want to.

Got one question does the seed end up with arejay for the newbies? I think they should how about you all?

Ok is she dropping those seed off to the person that gets her visit or does she pick up another pack to take to her next destination and then another and so forth. Just a trip though everybody to gather seed for the newbies or what? Am I getting ahead of you ? If so I am sorry.

Somebody's got to pay for Gilda's mojitos. Pack of seed should do it. LOL
