The Brewers Blackbirds are starting to wait for me to bring the peanut delivery. This poor baby lost part of the upper and lower end of his beak, but he's not had any problems eating.

Nice shots Duc. Red, those Grossbeaks are very interesting looking, next to the Pine Sikens, they're quite large! Knip, nice shot of he ducks. The Juvenile duck look to be a young drake?

The scrub Jay juvy, Duc. Looks like it's waisting away due to famine. I bet the parents are working hard on repairing that famine problem. lol.

Thank everyone for your comments.

Their beautiful duc!

Norman, OK

duc, Lots of Brewers BB around Pagosa. Went over Wolf Creek Pass today to Creede. We pulled on on the pass overlook to glass for eagles and Peregrines and saw both. First saw a Golden Eagle (4 on this trip) and then a pair of Peregrines came down the mountain from the east and passed directly over us no more than 100 feet. No photos except those permanently etched in my mind.

Reddirt, I sure wish you'd gotten a photo of the Golden Eagle. They're here with the Peregrine and Bald Eagles, but I still haven't been able to capture the Golden. Bet it was great just seeing all of these beauties.
Pelle, great capture on the Plover-sure is a pretty one.
24g, that's a pretty Oriole.
Burd, great catch on the Downy too!
Gardenpom, love the White-winged Dove.

It's quiet here today. Found this Brewer's Blackbird near the feeder. I guess it's an immature male with that gold eye?

Hi everyone! The weather has either been too hot or rainy this summer for me to do much birding; but I have enjoyed seeing everyone pictures. Last weekend, DH and I went up to Albuquerque; so I finally got to see some birds.

We stopped at one of the local parks that had about a dozen Canada Geese. As soon as I broke out a loaf of bread, they all came running.

Another Canada Goose.

Our next stop was the Albuquerque zoo, which had a neat section of Australian birds. Here's a Laughing Kookaburra.

And here are a couple of Rainbow Lorikeets. For a dollar, you could buy a little cup of nector to feed them. It was a really fun experience.

Jane, My daughter lives out West (Albuquerque), I will be sure I'll bring my camera next time I visit. Nice shot of the geese running comming to feed.

Burd_Foto, love your little Downy. Duc, how can we differentiate among blackbirds? Such as the crows, grackles, and brewsters and such? They all look alike to me, and yes pretty with all their shiny feather.

What's a Bewick's Wren? Ahhh, more homework. lol.

The zoo's duck pond had quite a few wild ducks. Here's a Carolina Wood Duck ... male, still in breeding plumage.

Next, here's a male wood duck in non-breeding plumage ... quite a difference, huh?

On our way home, we stopped by the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge (near Soccoro, NM). Everytime we go there, we always see something new. Here are a couple of turkey vultures in a tree.

Here's a shot of one of the wetlands areas. Those tiny specks are Canada Geese and White Pelicans.

Thanks to my telephoto lens, I could actually see that they were pelicans.

Last pic ... some more pelicans. They aren't something I normally see here in New Mexico; so I guess they just stopped by on their migration route.

Thanks Lily. When you visit, tell your daughter to take you to Tingley Beach Park. That's were I took the Canada Geese photos. It also had some mallards and domestic ducks there too. If you get the chance, try to come out here around Thanksgiving or Christimas time and then drive to the Bosque. (About an hour drive south of Abq.). At that time of year, there are literally thousands of sandhill cranes and snow geese wintering there.

Raining here today, off and on, but the sky is constantly dark and dismal. Fortunately I Have the 200mm f/1.8 lens because there is a lot of action going on in the yard today.

This is Mama arriving with a worm for one of the fledglings which are 33 days old today.
