۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞159
So good to see you here BJ.....(((HUGS))) we have missed you.... hope you will stop in a little more often!!!
Looks and sounds like you have a couple of really nice kids! Keep us posted!
Have a good night everyone!
I sure am glad I was restless tonight otherwise I wouldn't have seen BJ's post until tomorrow. I did see the pictures of you greeting Ina on FB; indeed she is a tall girl. Beautiful pictures I might add of you and Don. BTW, I love your hair. Yes, us sistahs notice everything. I sit (well not really sitting) and think about that great weekend we spent with you and I have been missing you much. Life can get very busy--I know. I had no idea I would end up babysitting the summer but that is the way it turned out.
Well, I am getting tired now but I can say how nice it was to see you post. Will be waiting for you.
Geez, I should have gone to bed--corrected my mistakes. Duh!

Shhhh... Kristi and Ina are still asleep... Don's on a plane making his way home... I thought I'd stop in this morning before the fun begins again.
Yesterday, Kristi and Ina took the boating safety class to be certified for driving the jet skis... as soon as they came home, they couldn't wait to get on the water and disperse some water. Of course, mother hen had to go with them, just to make sure they learned something. After while, I had them drop me on the beach and I just watched. All three of us were in touch with the walkie talkies. They both did great...
Later today, we're going to a bbq and pool party at our area chair person's house. Phyllis will be there too. Ina is so excited to be able to speak Danish with the other Danish students for a bit. She said she has to think too hard while speaking English, and it still gives her a headache.
School starts tomorrow, so she better get used to it really quick.
Ina has already met some kids from school. Three of her classmates dropped by last week to meet her, and invited her to the scrimmage football game on Thurs. When I dropped her off at the football field, she was too cute... she got one look at the players on the field, and her eyes got big and said "WOW... it's just like in the movies!!!"... LOL. She met more classmates at the game, and has her phone full of numbers now. She's been texting constantly ever since.
Ina's dad is a ship builder, and also has a charter boat and takes customers out fishing and whale watching. How exciting is that? Her mom is a physiotherapist, and accompanies her dad on boating excursions. She has an older brother.
I don't know much about Eve yet, except that she lives in a suburb of Bancock... and is very close with her dad, mom and younger brother. Her dad is a government security official, and her mom works for the government security. She likes to cook, eat and study. She says that her dad is a better cook than her mom, so she has learned her culinary skills from him. She also plays the electric keyboard, and her mom said she's very good at it. We will pick her up one week from today... and we're very excited to finally get her here.
Well, better get busy before this day begins... I'll try harder to get here more often... but life has taken some turns for me lately, so bare with me, ok?
LK, I don't know about Eve yet, but Ina isn't into sports. She's not even taking a PE class. Her electives are Art and Journalism. I guess sports aren't a big deal in Greenland.
BJ's house is going to be the party house this year with the girls there ...LOL
This sounds so exciting--now I wish I were closer to both you and Phyllis. What joy and fun having 2 young ladies in the house--you learning from them and certainly all the wonderful things they will learn from you and Don. Do keep us updated on them. This will our learning through you!
Trying to get myself a little better organized today as I will be leaving this coming Saturday for maybe a week. Then the following week the festival committee goes back into sessions planning the 20th celebration of our festival. Who would have thought we would have made it this long?
I remember Jaye, and that is what makes Kel such a special person!!!!
Hello everyone
BJ so glad to see you posting.. Thse girls are going to have a great time there with you two.. Very pretty I bet Mike is definately wishing he was here too..
Kim your porch looks nice.. Dont let them work you too hard okay..
Cindy hoping your GD gets that fever down soon.
Marion Have fun at the festival.. Be safe on your trip when you head that w yn case I forget to mention it..
Waving to all >>
Today has been busy, Grocery store to get supplies for the week and snacks for after school -- $150 later I am half broke.. ugghhh Got Tonys back pack - Ohio State he is thrilled.. Went to a local farm and picked up 2 bales of hay for Bellas Kennel and the garden..
O I went to joanne fabrics and Tony picked out the fabric he wanted for his full sized Rag quilt he wants for his new room decor( Flames a fire breathig dragons).. He got flames for a pattern and back for the other squares.. Red for pillows that looks really nice against the flames.. So I have a few questions? How much roughly fabric do I need for a full size rag quilt? I got 3 yards of black and 2 yards of the flames.. 1 yard of red for two nice sized pillows.. Do I need batting for the center of the squares?
Im trying to get this as much as I can at a time so I can get to work on his new room theme.. I dont have a sewing machine except for teh lil one I was given but I think it will work. If not I can ask my MIL to borrow hers or for her to show me.. I REALLY WANNA LEARN TO SEW...
Will check back later I need to get a few things done still ..

Donna
Hey everyone!
Glad to see you BJ. You are going to have a blast this year. What fun.
Finally nice enough to work outside this morning, so now I am behind on dishes and figuring out dinner. Gotta run for now. Be back later.
Juanita
Good afternoon, all
Just back from church - it was a Hymn Sing service, and was wonderful. Our pastor is away on vacation until Sept 3, so one of our UCW ladies led the service, with other parts being by others.
They sang some of the real oldies that I love - ♫♪♪♫♪♫ What a Friend we have in Jesus, ♫♪♪♫♪♫ Mansion on the Hill, ♫♪♪♫♪♫ Amazing Grace ♫♪♪♫♪♫, etc.
Donna, here are some directions to make a rag quilt! Some use an extra piece of fabric in the middle, but you don't need the batting, unless you want it to be really heavy! Good luck on your quilt! They are so easy to make. Just make sure to sew with at least 1/2 inch seams to clip.

Thank you LK for th elink.. Its perfect but .. lol I need more fabric.. I didnt get any flannel and wasnt thinking but I might as well make it big enough for a queen as he will be using it for awhile.. Guess I will just start getting my blocks together until we have enough for a cool big pattern..
If anyone sees any dragons with flames or dragon fabric colored as flames - red, yellow or orange please let me know..
Taking a quick break before putting the pizza in the oven and getting showers moving..
Max and I mowed the yard, waered all the beds and garden, Max even thinned out the mulberry tree off teh rooof the house..

Hi Ladies,
Long day up at 3:30 am left at 4:14 to go visit brother. It never fails everytime mom want to go early to get closer to the front of the line they do something different urg!!!! Visited until1:00, stopped buy produce shed on the way home got $22 worth of fresh veggies, green beans, brussel sprouts, caulaflower, tomatoes, avacados, corn on the cob, we are set for weeks!!!
Finally got blood test results, my granddaughter has strep throat. Geez!! She is much better today but will miss school tomarrow as she has to have antibotic for at least 24 hrs before she can go to school. Now I can relax a little.
Rusty's family has set up a trust fund for the baby instead of flowers. His memorial service will be Friday. His dad is not dealing with this very well at all. You see when Denny (Rusty's dad) was about 8 years old him and his younger brother were playing with a shot gun and it went off and killed Stephen. Stephen's name was never mentioned around my uncle at all. Now Denny has lost his son and knows the pain his father went through all those years ago. Rusty was the first born male son (only son) and grandson to the Davis family, now his son will carry on the Davis name.
I'm getting a new "DO" tomarrow. I tired of having to fix my hair all the time so I'm getting a spiral perm. I'll be able to just wash and go. Well the bloody mary I just drank hit me smack between the eyes and all the letters are blurry even with my glasses so I guess I'll yak at ya all tomarrow.
Kim!!!! I love the entrance way to your front door. Don't forget the 3-B House Swap!!!!
note to self: I've read to here.
Waving. I'll be back got to check on dinner in oven. Love yall.
Ha! Kim, you kick the kitties out, instead of carrying them! Lolol!
It's the same with us too. Dallas somehow insist on sleeping with us.
By the way, I like your entry way now. It gives a hint of what the guests will be expecting in your house, as inviting as the outside.
Looking forward to the adventures of the Wilsons with Ina and Eve. I don't know about the rest of the sistahs, BJ. Don't think I can bare along with you... not an exhibitionist here. But you can count on me to bear with you ;) Hehehehehe!!!
Maid M, looks like you'll be disappearing on us again :( Miss you when you do so, but we pray that all goes well with your mum, and especially the challenges you'll be facing now that you're back on an that important committee again. There were some agonizing long evenings trying to meet the deadline the last time. Hope this time, some new experiences will help this year's planning a much smoother one for you.
Susan, I love those oldies too! Our new pastor has this wonderful baritone voice that sometimes shuts me up, just to listen to him!!
Donna, that rag quilt spells "ALL BOY"!! Racing flames will be cool for Tony! Wish you're nearby, you are certainly welcome to one of my standby sewing machines!!
It's still sad thinking of the tragedy Cindy. We'll keep Rusty's family in our thoughts... plus you too.
Thank God, it's just strep throat. Still you all have to keep a close eye on her.
A new do? You got beautiful long hair.. will you be cutting it short?
Hi Deborah!! What are you cooking?
Hello sistahs!!
Sorry i've been so "absent", but it's been crazy busy for me here.
Today I learned that my DM was sick with the "D" for 4 days after she was here, and my DH was, for a couple of days that he didn't tell me about.....(y'know, the "running" kind.........). S'funny that it took so long to appear.
Looks like it wasn't food poisoning after all. I feel sorry for my DM having to go through it.
Glad she didn't get as sick as I did. She wouldn't have been able to take it at her age (90).
I'm in so many swaps that I'm gonna be quite busy for awhile. I have 10 quilt squares to make & send by as close to the end of august as I can (Signature Block), then the Tote Bag Swap, and I still have to make the Birthday Book that Cindy (Purpbtrfly) sent me in the Envelope Swap lol
Then.......... omgoodness lol
Not to mention the yard I'm working on for my friend, Marlene (yard heck - it's a small park LOL).
I went to the DG Calgary Roundup yesterday, and came home with a lot of plants, so had gone to Marlene's to plant them. I musta disturbed a wasp nest in the raised (weed) bed, cuz one stung me on the foot - ow ow ow ow!!!!! It felt like I was being repeatedly injected with hot acid!! Youch!! I continued on gardening, but gave up on using the pitchfork on the flower bed! I didn't get to sleep until 1:30 because of the stinging in my foot!!! It's still a little swollen, but I can forget about it most of the time lol Good thing I'm not allergic to wasp stings. I didn't know for sure if I was, cuz I haven't been stung since I was about 6 yr old.
Anyway, I know my pattern for the 10 squares, and with a new sewing machine, this should be a Cinch! ^_^ 2 weeks and counting! My piece will look something like this. Well, not quite - it's more of a Lone Star, but only 8" finished size. I'll send it as an 8.5" block....
~Susan~

On no I'm not cutting it. Will post pix later tomarrow. I will get home just in time to take mom for surgery follow up.
oh shoot - can't tell my Desert Star from my Lone Star........
Here's the Lone Star - it'll be my center piece.
Cindy - I continue to pray for your family - now Denny too (now that I know his name). This must be very hard for him - to lose his brother, now his son.......
Strep throat is miserable to have. Fever is miserable. Hope she feels better soon (now that she's on proper meds for strep).
~Susan~
Susan, I can't believe ALL pieces are cut from strips! Care to share the link to that pattern? It's beautiful! 10 squares by the end of the month? Well, good luck sister! You'll finish it in time!
Seems you had the stomach virus.. and you blamed it on the poor ole fish!! Yah, glad it wasn't very serious for your mum.
Ouch!! Wasp and I don't get along! Take care of that foot!
Pssst..... which one of you got me for your tote buddy?
'fraid I don't know if I have the pattern for the Desert Star. I must have gotten it from ONE of my quilting books....... but I have So Many Books lol
I'll have to do some serious searching lol
You made that Lone Star? Beautiful. Like the color combo!
Now that Desert Star I like.
Here's the link, Jaye.
http://www.quilterswarehouse.com/p-3977-desert-star-quilt-by-lazy-girl-designs.aspx
The pattern costs $7, but I didn't get it. I figured I'd just do the cutting of all the pieces IF I wanted to make it, but I'm not sure I do. I like the Lone Star better.
~Susan~
Hum.. need the lazy angle ruler, which costs another 20.
I've seen a pattern somewhere of Lone Star using jelly rolls. All the diamonds cut from strips.
Tote? Got someone's name? Jaye, are you sure you aren't hitting Jax's Baileys? LOL I'll never tell who I have so don't play Betty with us now.
I won't be leaving until Saturday to go to Mom's as I have so many things I need to get taken care of here before leaving.
Well, back to whatever it was I was doing--now if I could only remember.
Need to add here too, I've never attempted Lone Star.
Kel's mother gave me a Lone Star quilt 7 years ago.. beautiful burgundy and white saying someone quilted it. Naive me, I thought MG.. this lady's a pro!
Turned out.. it was quilted by some Chinese women in China, after I complained to Kel that the the colors 'run' after washing, and a few seams needed repairs. The seams were pathetic....
She admitted it was ordered from a catalogue.
Well, if you got my name Maid M., I just want to reinstate again, that I don't want a pink tote!! :P
Hehehehehe.. just to make sure, Susan.
That will look beautiful as a wall hanging too! Gorgeous!
