North Central Texas Fall Roundup Trade Thread.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry you won't be able to attend Carl, hope to see you in the Spring.
Josephine.

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

had a thought;
for anybody who wants something from my list but doesn't have any plants to trade, I'd be happy to have Folger's coffee (red can, one of the stronger brews) or Milky Way Midnight candy bars.

(I told Phyllis my idea, & she said I could just walk along the highway with a sign that says "will trade plants for food".)

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL!! Sylvia!

That reminds me, I have two or three bags of Starbucks grounds in the freezer...anyone want them? Also have a tomato upside down planter that didn't work for me up for grabs.

I also am bringing 10 -24oz bug boxes. It is a small version of the ones I use for raising Monarch and Swallowtail caterpillars. They would be nice for teachers or Mom with kids interested in insects. I will put in a cup with floral foam in each.

Shelia,
I would love the bug boxes for a friend of mine to use in her classroom. I can supply the caterpillars for her.

Thank you,
Charlene

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 7b)

ooooohhhh sylvia...NOW we're talkin. I'll trade coffee or chocolate for those cast iron plants!!!!

Hutchins, TX

Sheila, I'll take the coffee grounds.

Cleburne, TX(Zone 8a)

Haven't been to a RU before. Do we need to bring folding tables to put our trade stuff on, or how is it done? Assuming we should bring lawn chairs. How far away from where we park cars will we be?

Glenna

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Glenna, tables are provided. Just bring your plants, door prize, food item for lunch, and your $ for the rental of the facility.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

The parking lot is right next to the pavillion, so you don't have far to walk. The restroom is far enough that you might want to drive, if necessary.

Carla

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok Charlene, I will bring the cages for you. Phyllis you have the coffee.
No takers on the tomato upside down planter?

Thanks for answering questions everyone. This is one from last year, shows the heavily shaded tables, pavillion then past it the parking lot. Yep it is a great spot!

Charlene....I see you have Sassafras tree on your list, is it too late to ask for one?

Cleburne, TX(Zone 8a)

I want to try winter sowing in one-gallon jugs and we don't drink milk. If anyone has any one-gallon plastic jugs they would part with, I would appreciate having them.

Glenna

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I think I remember someone offering some, maybe Stephanie?

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

okey dokey txmel, I'll get those cast iron plants dug up so they can get as settled as possible!

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Sheila, I will dig a sassafras or two for you. I don't have one potted up, but this time of year, the transplants should have an okay chance.
If no one else wants the upside down tomato, I'll take it for my daughter to try on her patio next spring.

Dennis, I have your name on one of my hens & chicks. But I wanted to make sure it's what you want before you take it on. It is silver (almost identical to a ghost plant). My big plant grows in part shade, moist soil, where it seems happiest. The cuttings have done fine in dryer pots in full afternoon sun. I also grow it in pots because the tag says it isn't hardy. I suspect it is, though, but haven't tested it. I may do that this winter.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Is there anyone going to both the Arlington and ET RU's? I was hoping to make the Jacksonville RU, but I'm probably not going to make it. I have a few small plants that would love a ride from Arlington to Jacksonville. (Very few and very small--I promise--LOL.)

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

That hens & chicks sounds interesting. Is there anything else on my list you would like? Everything must go! :)

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

No, you're already bringing me the chili, and that's something I've wanted for a long time. Right now I'm just out of space. Of course my wish list keeps getting longer, but I need to do major digging and thinning before I can take on more. Thanks anyway. :)

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Pattie....I know Josephine is going and Herman and I are going too; so bring what you have to Arl. and one of us will transport them.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, one of us can do it, whoever has the least to carry.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, thanks, ladies. Does anyone know if Pat is coming to Arlington? I haven't seen her on here.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Not as far as I know. I think she got an overdose of R.U. in the Spring and said she was going to hold back for a while, it can get a little hectic, but we would love to have her.
Josephine.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

I D-mailed Patricia and she said she had lost a lot of flowers this summer due to the elements. She also hasn't had a lot of energy lately. She said she will return in the spring.
Charlene

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you for letting us know Charlene,

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

can't remember if I said this already so, TxMel, I divided the cast iron plant & will bring you a gallon pot of it!

pbtxlady, I love hen & chicks & blackberry lily...
but I don't have crown of thorns or brugs.

Is there anything else on my list that I can bring you?

Thanks!

Hutchins, TX

Does anyone have ghost plant?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 7b)

sylvia... thanks!!! will bring your goodies!

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

Phyllis, I have a good sized ghost plant for you. Can I have a butterfly bush?

Dennis

Arlington, TX

Sheila, I have very little to trade but do you have a small cutting of the butterfly ginger that is still unclaimed?
Cheryl

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Cheryl, you can have the Butterfly Ginger.

(Elizabeth) DFW Area, TX

Dennis, I can bring you a butterfly bush - Nanho Blue, I think.

NOTE: The latest (and Dear Lord, please let it be the last before the round up!) gardening disaster happened when the neighbors' cats came into my yard and dug into a lot of plants in search of whatever was causing that delicious smell - blood meal and bone meal! I lost a lot of plants, but I still have most of the ones that I was giving away or trading to someone in particular. If I don't, I have D-mailed you.

I edited my list - please take a look at it and make sure that I have the info right. If I have missed something, please send me a D-Mail and let me know what it is. I had the list finished once before but I lost it to the ethers and I may not have caught everything the second time I put the list together.

Thanks very much for bearing with the nervous newbie! ;)
