Sesitz,
I'd like to have your King Kong coleus (please), is there something off my list you'd like?
Kate
North Central Texas Fall Roundup Trade Thread.
Sesitz, I'd love to have your other bag of rabbit manure. Can I bring you a rooted begonia (houseplant)?
Sylvia, I'll bring you the hens & chicks and blackberry lily. The blackberry lily is a seedling that's been growing all season, but it should bloom next year. No need for a trade--I really am out of space. :)
You can't tell from my nickname, but I am Shirley, Bluesmaven's Mom. Sheila, I'll label the orange milkweed yours; Josephine, I'll put your name on the yellow columbine; Kenboy, you have a red oleander and I would love the ginger; Loonie, the rabbit manure is my daughter's and you can talk with her about what she wants in trade. msgrubbyfungus, what can you give me for my King Kong coleus? Josephine, what do you have left that is not promised? Shirley Edwards
I had forgotten the Shefield daisies that i have in abundance. They are single pink chrysanthemums. They look like pink shasta daisies. I'll try to dig a few of them; they are just about ready to bloom. Shirley
Sherley, here is the link to my list

Shirley, I would like to have some of the pink daisies. Please check my list to see if there is anything you would like.
Charlene
I have a cholla cactus and I think its one of the really tall varieties. I started it from a tiny broken pad that I picked up in a park (don't yell at me please). I have a couple pads that I trimmed off if anyone would like one. They are mean but very interesting and easy to grow. I will cut off a few more if anyone wants one to try. They would make a great potted plant.
Cheryl
Shirley,
Please have a look at my list and tell me what you'd like. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=7022096
If there is nothing there I'd be happy to bring you some leaves from my African Violets that you can start (I don't have any started myself). The named one I have is called Clementine http://www.buyafricanviolets.com/images/leaves/Clementine.jpg
Kate
phyllisb59, yes I would love the Iris, thanks.
Cheryl, I would love a little pad from the cholla. I will bring some extra things and you can pick something from that to add to our trades.
Charlene
Does anyone know if cocobid is coming?
Sorry Shirley, abut the name....old brain disease! LOL!
Thanks for the MW, and if you have an extra pink daisy that sounds sweet.
Shirley, I would like some of your Pink daisy. Look an see if I have anything that you would like.
Ken, Cocobid is on the list, so I suppose she is coming.
We have decided to not go to the RU and I am sorry to everyone involved. I feel like I am letting everyone down but it is raining cat and dog here and I don't like the thought of driving five hours on a freeway to get there. If we lived in Arlington I would not think of missing this. I was so looking forward to meeting lots of new friends but that will have to wait until Spring. For those who I have made trades with, we will be going to the ETRU. If you are not going to ETRU but would like to come to our home we would love to have you. No one has ever came to our home and not left with a truck full of plants, we love to share. Again I am truly sorry.
Don't feel bad about it, Ken! When it's raining, I will barely venture out of the house even to go to mass, much less a social activity. And to drive five hours in rain and fog? No way! I don't blame you a bit and I'd bet no one else would fault you for it, either.
I agree with quilter_gal Ken... plus it just gives us all a good excuse to plan to come visit you!
Have a great day!
Hello all, we just made a 45 min drive one way toward's Arlington. After gettting into rain so bad that we had to pull over for a while, we turned around. We just made it back home.
So sorry!
I made those darned brownies to get the mix out of the house and keep me safe on my diet.
Now they are staring me in the face!
At least the salad is good for me. I made a huge salad though and some of it will go to compost.
Have fun all and think about me!
Charlene
Everyone who is coming to either Jacksonville or College station, please let me know. I will bring your trades there.
Charlene
Hello everyone I think with the rain & all I'm going to pass.
The main reason I'm passing H1N1, we have it going through our businesses at the moment. I would hate to be contagious (I'm not sick) and spread this cheer your way. We have just in the past 48 hours a host of employees & their family members coming down and ill. I have a ton of stuff to bring, but that is what the greenhouses are for HE HE
Will make the next round up.
It is incredible how fast this stuff will hit someone~~~
Hope everyone has a great time. Kenboy I've got you all kinds of Alocasias....
Karen
Okay, I think I'm going to skip too. If Ken & Charlene aren't coming, that eliminates most of my trades, and most of the few that are left can be done either at ET or personally. So there's not much point in driving over to Arlington. Josephine, I will still send you money to help pay for the pavilion. Please d-mail me your address and I'll get it to you in the mail tomorrow.
Thank you all for a wonderful afternoon. Richard and I had a great time!
Kate
Well we had 36 people show up counting members and quests. It wasn't the turn out we expected to have, but it was a great Round Up!! I think we got to visit and interact with more folks since we stayed under or around the pavillion instead of so scattered.
The food was wonderful and loads of it. Lots of great trades took place and we only got sprinkled on a bit once the event got under way. Before long it quit intirely and was a great day.
We missed several of our regulars and others but do understand the rain was an issue. Hope to see you all at the next one in the Spring.
We missed everyone who didn't make it, but totally understand with the rainy conditions and slick roads. The rain stopped just as we were beginning the festivities. It was a great time as always. Josephine and Sheila (and everyone else who helped) did a fantastic job of improvising and accommodating everyone considering the weather.
Josephine, let us all know if the funds came up short for the pavilion and I am sure we can get it raised for you.
I missed all of you and hope to see many of you in Jacksonville or College Station.
Charlene
P.S. Due to the temptation of the brownies, they are now in the compost, what a waste! LOL
I know they were good too, because I had to do a test run on two of them, just to be sure they were okay.
Josephine/Frank and Sheila/Herman definitely made lemonade out of lemons for us. Actually, I think it was nice to "be stuck" under the pavilion, as it forced me to interact with more people than I normally do. It was nice seeing familiar faces and also nice to meet and make new friends. The food and fellowship was wonderful. And I won the bird feeder that Phyllis brought, so I'm a happy DGer! :-)
Thank you, Josephine and Sheila.
Carla
I am so glad that most people showed up and had a good time. I hope it stops raining here so I can unpack the van for Maggi. We are at 4&3/10 for today and the radar looks like we may be coming to an end. After 9 inches a little over a week ago and another inch on Friday, we are drenched. We have about 50 Brugs that will be blooming in a week or so and half are on the ground. I will get out and stake them up tomorrow, we have lots of people coming by in the next few weeks who have never seen so many blooms at one time. If anyone can find time, come on out and enjoy the blooms.
My dad and I had a great time and particularly enjoyed the food! Being in tighter quarters under the pavilion made "selling" leftover plants a lot quicker and easier - this is the first time that I came away without bringing any of my own plants home. :)
Dennis, I enjoyed your dad's stories!
Enjoyed the RU too. Ditto re the lemonade and chance to meet more people. I thought it was so cute when the little boy won coffee grounds twice! and was happy about it. Sorry that the rain kept some of you away. If I had to drive far, I wouldn't have made it. Charlene, I ended up giving your trades away. I guess you will have to wait to Spring for a new surprise DL. Good work on letting go of the brownies. Your plants will love you for it.
Had a great time at the RU and meeting so many of you. Thanks for all the trades. Sorry to have to leave a little early but we are dog sitting two dogs until October 19 and one was not doing well this morning. Afraid to leave him too long.
Josephine/Frank and Sheila/Herman, thanks for all the work you put into this. Great job.
Glenna & Larry
Frank and I just got home, what a day this has been!!! We stayed inside the pavilion and it all worked out really well.
Missed you Charlene, Ken, Maggiedew, BajaBlue, planolinda, lorilea, arthagar, Sybram, and pbtxlady, Cocobid I hope you get well soon.
It all went like a blur and we had a lot of fun, I came back with more plants than I took, all very nice and good ones.
Charlene I have a very nice Coral Hoheysuckle for you from Dennis which I will bring to ET together with the plants I had promised you.
Someone brought three bowls with vegetables and one with dip and left them there, we divided the vegetables up, do you need the bowls back?
We collected $89.00 which is just fine no problem at all, it is all good and no one has to send money, but thank you for being concerned about it.
Meeting our new members was great, everyone was very generous and brought beautiful plants.
I ended up with three bags of llama poop, I don't know how that happened, but my plants are going to be very happy. Thank you Glenna.
Sheila and Herman were a great help I don't know what I would do without them.
I am sure I am forgetting some details right now, I will be posting some pictures later and hope to remember more details.
Your friend,
Josephine.
We need a new picture thread, this one is getting toooooooooo long.
I will do it as soon as I have the pictures, and if Sheila has them ready she can start one and i will follow.
Just wanted to say it was an interesting outing today. I met a lot of nice folks and people were more than generous with their plants. I look forward to the spring RU and will bring more plants to give now that I see what goes on.
Cheryl
Hi Guys. We are in Gulfport/Biloxi, Ms. right across the street from the Gulf of Mexico. Really pretty sad place. Four years since Katrina and it is still 98% not rebuilt. Lots of evidence where they are cleaning up debris. COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS. The reality is that the Mississippi Coast was hit harder than New Orleans. The poorly constructed levies are what flooded them. Sorry we were not with you but hoping we will be in Jacksonville.
Christi
Hi Christi! ((((waving))))
Hope you are getting some relaxation time. We missed you and Mike at the RU today, but glad to know you were thinking of us. We did fine weather wise, just a short shower/sprinkle and then it cleared. Hope to catch you in Jacksonville in two weeks.
Be careful traveling.
posted this twice... so not to miss anyone...
It was great seeing everyone today. I came mostly to meet everyone, put faces with names/DG names... and share a great meal! You all were so kind to send home plants as well... which I will put in the ground as soon as the rain dries up a bit.
Thanks to Josephine and Sheila for organizing it all!!! You girls are GREAT!!!
...and to the one who made the wonderful rice/chickpea/pepper/onion dish... SHARE the recipe... Hey, there were many recipes i'd love to have... that sweet cabbage one , oh my... GREAT Cooks AND Gardeners!!!
Thanks~.Melanie
I ate so much that I just had cereal for dinner! The food was great and desserts super too!
