Fabulous, Rose.
Hey, Mrs Ed, you can't blame Roses' hummingbirds for any craziness. LOL
2009 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds Vol. 6
What is their problem? Don't they know that I have a bazillion plants and a few feeders that are all being ignored?
nice Rose!!!... green with envy!!!
LOL...you guys are funny!! They are back again this morning eating like crazy. Yesterday as I was putting the feeders out one of them landed and started eating before I got the feeder hung...that was pretty cool.
I have 5 feeders like the ones in the above pics as well as 2 large sauces and 5 other feeders...they are all refilled at least once a day. Right now they are devouring between 4 and 5 pounds of sugar a day. It isn't work since they will be gone before I know it!!
The migration south has begun...so keep watching for the little jewels!
More pix please Rose.
Still watching. It's all blooming now! Been a weird year though. Butterflies (except for Monarchs) have been pretty sparse too.
awww. Is that out front or out back? Do you have any banders in your area? Would be fun to band one that you think is Ed.
This is the one out the back window with the branch attached to the hook. I have no idea if there are any banders around here. That would be cool!
We have not had a lot of action out front this year. But I do think all the kitties hanging out on the porch are the reason for that. Hopefully next year things will be back to "normal!"
Cool. I wondered if you were getting any on the front porch.
Hi nanny, There are 3 bander's in your state. Here they are on this page if your interested.

This male sure is handsome, but he is running our other hummers away. He is down right mean and ugly to my girls! What can I do to help the other hummingbirds? Their are two of these guys and two females. Today I actually had the females hanging around me when the males would chase them through the porch. The males are scared of us. It's almost like the female are using me as their protection, but I can't be with them all day long... as much as I'd like to!
He certainly does display attitude, Teresa, doesn't he?
wow yes I would agree with that... nice shots
Hi Missy, Yes that is an immature male (2nd). Nice pics everyone!
Teresa, how many feeders do you have up and where? Maybe you can tuck some away in areas out of site or on the other side of the house. Can't defend them all without some one else being able to sneak in.
Great photos..love that first one!
We have 5. We have tried moving them around, but I guess I will have to move a couple far away? Not sure what else to do. I didn't think I'd ever say this about a hummingbird, but I wish these mean guys would go away! I don't like them. I watched the male actually stab his beak at the females neck this morning when she was feeding. He also flew up to her and hit her with his chest. Both males are extremely aggressive. I think the males are even trying to get rid of us. Me and my husband took turns sitting on the steps in front of the feeders and the males would zoom by us so close we thought they were going to hit us. And they'd fly up to our face with their tail feathers fanned out, making a very loud buzzing sound. Like they were trying to intimidate us.
Beautiful pics Teresa; sorry your males are being such a pain.
HA! Was that like one petal remaining?
Ah-ha! I think I have found a solution! I put one of the feeders on the top of the roof and one low on a branch away from that feeder so the males that feed on the lower feeder can't see the females when their feeding on the top of the roof.... confusing? The males have to put their heads down to feed as the females can look down to see where the males are. Any ways, it's working... for now. :) Nice picture pelle!! I will send picture in a while.
very good!
Beautiful shots of your ladies onewish and nanny!
My Monarda really shocked me this year by having a lot of rebloom; it actually doesn't look too bad.
thank you Pelle
very nice Teresa
So cute Teresa!
