my pinky winky still looks whitey

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

It shows up really nicely in a partly shaded area, I hope it returns well next spring.
Always last of the lilies in my garden to bloom and one of the most fragrant. 'Casa Blanca'

Echinacea 'Hope' getting a second and final chance to get through the winter here. I have a lot of "hope" it can do it.

nice pictures everyone

allison that looks like a weed to me.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

I ordered two honeysuckle vines for he new arbor out back. They are growing well however one has decided to bloom and it is not red like 'Magnifica' should be. It is a buff yellow and I think it is probably lonicera 'John Clayton'. Anyone grow this? The other has no blooms so don't know if that one is going to be red/orange or not.

Another new one here is weigela 'Ghost' which is blooming again and if you look closely is starting to go ghostly with the color of the foliage.

I had the feeling it was a weed... what plant would grow that nice for me???

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

it does look very healthy :)

only a guess from me though.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yep weed... sigh

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yes I was going to confirm that is poke weed. When it gets big it is so difficult to pull out because the stems break off real easy.
I may have to get me some of those strawflowers they look great en masse.
Everything is still looking so good, my gardens look horrible.
That brug is HUGE, Wall-e pulled mine out of the pot and was chewing on it. I rescued it and now on my deck but only 6" tall.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I can never get enchinada to over winter here either, but I keep trying...

Hibiscus time!
I like these big ones!

Great shots, WC! Which hibiscus is that?

Nice collage, Jo Ann. Like the sedum.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks Victor,
... Umm I don't know, lol! I bought 2 of the big white/ pink ones @ HD last year and they overwintered, they're huge, each bloom is ~ 8" wide and the bush is filled with buds, at least 40-50 in clusters of 4, I love the fact it overwintered!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I really like them. Not too many things (perennials and shrubs) blooming now, so they are show-stoppers.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

That sedum is Metrona. I am disapointed in the color as I thought it would be more purple.
Perhaps when it fully blooms I will change my mind.
Zenox is another that didnt get as dark as I thought.

Nice Hibiscus!
WC2 What is the name of that rose? It's beautiful!!!!!!!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Jo Ann... In the first collage that you posted today.... which monarda is that? it looks as if it is a well behaved dwarf variety! Nice pictures.

Allison... there's som much going on in your yard! I'm jealous!

WC2.... beautiful rose!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

OK.... I have an Echinacea queation for those of you who have some of the new ones....

Is "Twilight" truly as vivid of a dark pinkish red color as most of the pictures imply? I don't want another pinkish purple color since my Magnus is a huge and very happy plant. But, there's a tiny, little, nursery across the street from one of my jobs that just got a few in, that are really robust plants, and they're 12.95 for one. So, I was thinking that I just might splurge for one.

Then does anyone know if the new ones will reseed and/or hybridize themselves in the yard? I have quite a few seedling plants that are clearly crosses between my 'Doppleganger' and 'Magnus'. If these others will do the same, I'd like to encourage or discourage accordingly!

Twilight was deep in color for me. Unfortunately, they have not come back the third year.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

one of the new ones with 'Magnus' in the background that was sunbleached a few weeks ago. I'm not really liking that color. Fortunately it's setting new blooms fairly quickly.

That's good to know Victor! Any guesses as to why it didn't come back?

Hi RC nice to see you up at this hour.
The monarda is raspberry wine. its flopping, so it looks short.
I plan to cage it for next year.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No - other than many of these new echies turn out to be flops.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I agree about the new echies.
I have Summer Sky (i think) and its great when it opens ,but as it ages it really looks bad.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Pixie, that's 'Tea Clipper' a David Austin English rose, it just started blooming this month, All the buds look like that, with two little 'wings' to start with, I have 3 other English rose bushes but this is the only one that has that characteristic.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have Echi Sundown and thinking the same thing, looks horrible now.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Everyone has such great things going on in their gardens. Those dahlias at the top of the thread, JoAnn are very nice, esp that AppleBlossom!! Maybe this weekend I can find some time to actually catch up on this thread!

Not much going on in my yard. Maybe a couple of things.
