Hi RC
I'm up early, too hot and humid even with the AC on.
Love your echies
Have you had them long?
Thanks. It sounds as if your weather is catching up to ours! good luck staying cool!
No, I haven't had these Echies very long. Jan sent two out to me in the spring and then shortly there after I found a little nursery that has been carrying them for a reasonable price by one of my jobs, then I ordered one from some place. So I think that I had all of those by May. Then my sister asked me to pick up duplicates of mine, for her, if I came across them. As if that was a difficult request! lol. That's been interesting watching the differences take place between plants of the same variety. So, basically, I really only budgeted for Echies and hellebores this year, and so far I've stuck to that budget fairly well..... although, more of those than I had planned! But, at least they were part of the budget!
Actually, I did get two 'Harvest Moon' last year in 4" cont. and they overwintered and were doing great until our heat wave. I didn't realize that those two plants weren't getting hit well enough by the sprinkler and their flower bud got zapped :-( However, at least the plants themselves are ok. Maybe they'll try to bloom again soon.
The reason I asked about longevity was I heard the new varieties are "iffy"
I have Tiki Torch and one of the sky series I think its Summer Sky
I bought Sum Sk lasy year for another part of the garden and its doing well.
Tiki To. is from GC this spring, Its blooming buy if it comes back I will be thrilled.
I may get Tomatoe Soup next year.
Tiki Torch bloomed 3 weeks after I planted it.
