Thanks Jo Ann! lol. Yep, I'm usually up during normal hours too! just don't always stop by the computer.

As for the new echies being week cultivars, I suspect that there's growers using weak parent plants and others have very solid ones. I say this mainly because of fact that since spring I have either still in pots or planted 3 or 4 different varieties and then my sister saw them, fell in love, and asked me to get some for her as I came across them since she has little access to plant sources. I'm holding her plants until mid sept. Anyhow, I've picked up the same exact varieties for her as I have, and there's a very definite difference in how they perform. With each kind, one is much weaker than the other. Of "Sunset", I have 3 different plants of, from 3 different sources, and as expected: 1 is weak and the flowers turn within about a week of being open, another one has nicer foliage and last longer, the 3rd one is comparable to 'Magnus' is every respect except color. Anyhow...... that's my suspicion about the new varieties!

Willie... You have much more going on in your yard than I do!! Yours looks good!

Interesting info about the echies, Shelley---am wondering if some of the plants hybridized---I've got many different pink ones that just keep reseeding. I know BES do the same thing---every year the patch looked different. And my Blue Paradise phlox is much pinker this year than last.

I second that , RC, Willie has much more going on in his yard than mine too.

Robin.... that could very well be! I guessing that in 5 or 6 years (maybe less) as rumors get around that they're weak echinaceas, that a new variety will appear and be advertised as an improved version of one of the big sky series. Then, the rest of the series will follow suit after that. Just a theory anyhow!

RC for you to say you are jealous .... it made me jaw drop... thank you

cool sunflowers Willie!!... casserole looks good too!

You post a lot of snakes Bill.
Does the pond have anything to do with it?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i think it is the same one - it's new favorite place is this dl bed - and yes this is an eastern water snake and the pond is supposed to be it's home:)

celeste i do not know about federally protected - i'm not going to mess with it we are buddies :) you should here my mil try and scare it off though, that video would get plenty of hits on youtube.

Just popping in for a quick scan, unfortunately. To use a "Dahlia-ism" that I find most appropriate.....Very Very "prettiful" posts, everyone!!

Pixie - My Riseman's Flame hasn't bloomed this year...any idea why? In fact, I just realized that my Strawberry Candy in the same area didn't bloom either. Hmmmm. My soil there must be low in phosphate???

I love so many of the shots in this thread, but just have no time to comment on each. Sorry! Thanks for sharing!!!

Just immersed myself in this whoe thread--Couldn't possibly comment individually, but if I can't have a garden, this is a close second! So many breath taking photos!
On occasion, I take pics of things growing around here--can anyone ID this Dahlia? I posted it on an OT AV thread--plantladylin in Fla. was wanting to know.
