Hey,

I think everyone wants you to post a pic of you in your bingo hat :)

Williston, ND

I was wondering Maam, how are things, sorry gail,no clue on the violet but its pretty

JIM

Williston, ND

soon as my leaves are rooted Vio,i un dome them, seems if i leave them too long under domes, they rot or get stunted,,they seem to like this,as things are getting biggger quicker,
Keep them cool,a fan is wonderful for that, since we are cool this year

JIM

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Jim, I have lots of fans in every room , including the ceiling fan going all the time............

That is so true about the doming............that is why I leave the domes off of the babies while the lights are beaming down with heat............then, put the domes on loosely while the lights are off........

Do you keep your babies on matting until they get bigger? I do and it seems to work?????

I also can't find anymore of those small small pots..........that aren't as deep as solo 3ounce cups.......

If anyone knows where I can get them, please holler........

Gran!!!!! Missing you!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

YOU REALLY HAVE BEEN GONE A LONG TIME, Hillbilly gran..............
Stay around more..........

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

I will be around more--as long as my computer holds up anyway-- it keeps killing my mouse (mice). I have some nice blooms going on-- but my camera is in MO visiting my new grandson-- I am going to get it back next week-- I hope. this is the best bloom in my house right now tho!

Nothing more precious than a new baby. No wonder we haven't seen you around. I thought you were repotting and moving your begonias!

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

OH, he is a little cutie. Congrats!

Northeast, MO(Zone 5b)

Well, I will leave you all alone now. Time to go back in the garden.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Awwww......such a cute little redhead! What's his name?

Monticello, MN

Oh Gran he is darling , just a precious love , adore him every minute you can , they grow so very fast and so does your love of them :) Many warm hugs and prayers to your new dearheart :)

Connie :)

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Well-- I was repotting begonias--and moving them outside--finally done with that (all 150+ of them)!!! I have been mixing my own soil using plantone/biotone-- and they have been growing so fast-- just when I think I am done--I have to do it again to a bigger pot! I have also been trying to get up to Mo every chance I get to squeeze the baby before Mom has to go back to work. The little guy's name is Alexander Winston Titus. Bigger than he is thats a fact. Between all that AND trying to keep the lawn short enough so I can see the snakes BEFORE I step on them has kept me hopping-- Especially since up until this week it has been monsoon season. I will definately be around more--now that it is too hot to do much outside--computer willing.

Hi Gran ,

I have not heard of plantone/ biotone , is it a fertilizer or soil conditioner ( to lighten it ) and where do you get it please ?

Thank you and congrats on your new darling ,
Connie :)

South, TX

Gail, that plant looks like my Windy Day.

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Plantone and Biotone are fertilizers made by Espoma. We had a lot of chat about them in the winter. Anyway-- they are 4-3-3 and 3-3-3 respectively. The Biotone contains beneficial microbes. I use it in my Av soil--but didn't see the results there like I have in the begonias--of course I use a lot less. My outdoor mix is 3 parts (39 oz coffee can) garden soil--I found a brand at Lowes-that is mostly peat--and this is also where I can find the espoma products, 1 part perlite and 1/2 part vermiculite to this I add approx 1 1/2 oz of each of the fertilizers. I say approximate because I use a 3oz solo cup and guess at half and half. I had one begonia in a 4" pot that I put into a 6" pot 3 weeks later-- it is now in a 10" pot! And is absolutely gorgeous. I have no earthly idea how all this stuff will go back INTO the gh this fall.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

HG - I think you have the best bloom yet!

Gail - I agree with what Sally said on the old thread . . . I think your violet is Windy Day.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I had forgotten I have both bio tone and plant tone.......................thanks to Jannich.........Goldleaf gave us a site............and also I have seen both of them since in several box stores............I used to put both in with my mix for my gesneriads.......forgot all about it and I have 5 lb containers of it......for only about 5 bucks? maybe?

I do remember this..........I put bio tone in baby plant mix and the plant tone in mixes for larger plants in the gessie family...........look at Lowe's .......I have been seeing it everywhere.

I am going to try and see if I can save these trailers. I had forgotten about them and they almost died with no water. Now I have sprayed them with 20-5-10 fertilizer watered down and am going to pot them up with 2 tablespoons of BioTone in a big bowl with my regular wicking mix.

Since they are so sad looking, I am going to try the Espoma...........will keep you informed if they change from yellow to healthy plants. Will just put two trailers to a pot...........against the rules but these will never be show plants (LOL)

Hello Kivit,
Glad to see you around again............hang around more. We like having you.

I may have met my match on these poor little things I forgot about and they dried up (LOL)
