LiliMerci, I am so happy that you got some rain. Last night we got about 3/4 ins. I am a happy camper today, the weeds are so easy to pull after a good rain.

Joeswife, those are all very interesting plants, I like them all. I have a variegated rose of sharon as well, the buds are purple and they have never fully opened like the regular plant does.

vossner, those are some good looking banana plants. I like to eat the ice cream bananas, they are good.
Do you have a Sea Grape plant? I saw quite a few growing in Rockport, but did not have fruits. I would like to buy one if they will fruit for me in this area.

Sunshinesw, splendid pictures. You mentioned that your BOP like the plantains. Do you give them the ripening fruit for the ethylene gas to get them to bloom again for you?. I do have a couple of plants that I need to encourage blooming. (great idea)

Rita, thanks! Yes ripening bananas.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

Rita, I also have the variegated RofS with the purple flower. That's the way it blooms! isn't that weird?, not very attractive. That plant has been one of the slowest plants in my garden, I mean slooooowwwwwww.

Yes, I have a sea grape which isn't much to look act b/c in my area it needs winter protection and, except for last winter, had never protected. Poor plant always had to start from ground zero. Last winter I did cover it and it thanked me for it. I didn't know they produced edible fruit. They are supposed to get huge, but mine is a mere 2' tall by 1' wide.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

rita, lookie here. If you are lucky to grow a big shrub, then shrively flower is not so bad. But I only have a two branch shrub, so it's pretty weird and puny looking.

Pretty!

Do I detect a plumeria stalk in there, or is that the Velvet Ear?

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)

Oh yes, I have several plumerias. Some are huge trees.
White, Yellow, 4 seedlings, Kauka wilder cutting. I do believe I have pot pink one too but I am not sure which one. hehe ; )

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

candela, wondering is wart fern is the same as kangaroo paws fern. Yours is lovely. I love ferns but can only grow the thugs who choke out everything in their path or the wimpy ones that struggle for dear life. No middle ground for me, sigh.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I like that fern too.. is it cold hardy?

Miami, FL(Zone 10a)

wart fern is pretty hard to get rid of, not sure about cold hardy since it doesn't get too cold here.

can you see the ylangylang flower. i could barely see it but no escaping its frangrance

someone asked for the leaves on this little "hopping Grass" as I call it.. it wanders, creeps.. jumps, climbs.. no choking tho.. nice fill in for bare spots around species.. here it is filling up a bare spot in the MUMs.. the leaves look like wide big grass leaves, or almost like a wandering jew leaf..

The Garden of Eden is not extinct. Witness the pictures of it in many locations above this post. Ahhhhhh what exquisite beauty.

Rita - Gorgeous stephanotis; is it hardy for you? I have some baby seedlings and will protect them this year but hope I can leave them out the next. Also, it is not ususual for hibiscus to lose their buds. They don't like being moved or too much or too little water or too much heat. I can't believe they ever grow for us. LOL

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Mine loose buds all of the time..I put an umbrella over it and that seems to help when it's really dropping.

Sunshinesw, the variegated plant that vossner asked about could be a Chinese violet (Asystasia Gangetica). Maybe? I like it too.

ardesia, I have to overwinter the stephanotis in the GH. It has been very hot and I am always watering and re- arranging the pots, no wonder I have so much bud loss. thanks

Hi Rj.

Obedient plant

Buffalo, NY

Water, food, good sun, water, food, good sun, water, food, good sun that's about all I can suggest Sobe :) They love water and they are heavy feeders. I would find a nice eastern exposure for the plant so it gets some midday and afternoon dappled shade :)

I lost my Post thanking everyone for sharing .

Hi Rita,
My obediant plants are blooming too..I took pictures today..but didn't down load them yet.
Did you know they are on the endangered species list?

Red Oak, TX

Rj, I did find my lost post, I feel so silly, no more wine for me.

I did not know that the Obedient plants are on the endangered list, I will take better care of them.
Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Obedient plants are endangered???????? They are thugs and terribly dis-obedient around here.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL....you know I couldn't pass that one up....all kidding though!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I know..I nearly spit out my potato chips when I read that about Obediant plants..I can't kill them.
