Everyone is welcome to share pictures of their Tropical Plants and Gardens.

I would like to send a special thanks to Podster for sharing her Gloriosa lily with me.
A big "Thank You" to my friend, phughes for giving me a start of her Porterweed plant.

Joeswife I am glad that everything is Ok in the garden. Your Hibiscus and your centrum are lovely.

The blooms are blue on this MG plant and very pretty, the picture is not a good one. Please excuse the dead grass, it will look better when we get some rain.

79? You will have to get out the long sleeves. So happy to hear you have had some rain.

RIta, thanks for the compliments on the lotus but those plants grow themselves and I feel guilty taking any credit. Are the porterweeds annuals for you? I have tried them but they never come back for me. The butterflies and hummers love them.

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

Where's my rain RJ? You're supposed to share!!!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

You didn't get any?
my water bill came in at $180.00 - 22,000 gallons

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

$180 for a month? That's probably my water bill for 3 months.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Count your blessings. I normally spend about 200 and up in the summer and I only run the irrigation on an as needed basis to equal 1" a week. This extra rainy year I haven't had to turn it on and the bill is running less than a 100/month.

BTW, White Linen Night sounds so cool, I want to come.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I'll book you in the guest bedroom!

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

yes, I too was looking at that cool website for White Linen Night. Sounds like a great place to live. We will probably just have an ice cream social. Wish I could win one of those ice cream party that Edy's give away sometime.... but I never win anything....

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I never win anything either, but I did feel like I won the lottery with this bloom
Cajun Voodoo Dragon.. or something like that..

Rita, thanks for the close up.. I really like that, if it sets sets, save a couple for me.. your chalis vine is trying to take control of the front vine corner.. thanks so much, can't wait for a bloom, it is having babies tho, there are now three starts at the base of it.. you can see the leading top of chalice to the far right of this picture.. it was just about a foot tall when it went out.. it is almost four foot long.. and one of its' sports is coming between the brug leaves.

Look how pretty your gophrema is .. I found out is called strawberry delight.. LOL a nursery lady told me..it contrasts well with the giant white zinnias, and the white silvermound lantana.. my thanks to the DGr that sent me the triple datura purple plant seeds, my hubby loves it and goes out to see it every night.. ( that takes a lot for him in this heat) When this bed was brand new , he strolled up and down it and saw the few plants I had in it and asked" is this it>? what about all this space thats bare> " HAHAHA The power of seeds..

this is my favorite spot to look at right now.. I am anxious for those okras to open behind that crane.. Those lime zingers are popping up everywhere.. Bonnie said she must have given me some in the box of bulbs she gave me, and I planted those bulbs everywhere ..

Rj, as always, I enjoyed reading your blog. I wish that I could attend White linen nights next weekend, but right now I am worried about my water bill. I will make sure that I intercept the bill at the mailbox, and pay it right away, so as not to get a lecture on how much water I use.

Ardesia, the porterweed is a annual for me but I am planning on keeping this one in the GH. From the size of Phughes plant, I would surmise that she left it out for the winter, it was awesome.

Joeswife, very nice Chajun Hibiscus, and the morning glory flower in the wrong picture is one of my favorites. I dug the bulb up from the roadside a few years ago, and if I ever move I am taking it with me. That is a great butterfly, lantana picture.

vossner, great little story, I guess I will keep my little avocado tree.

I bought this little plant in Houston, without an ID, does anyone know what it is? This is the first bloom and it is a little darker yellow than the picture shows.

Rita, the plant that needs IDing is some type of cassia, host plant for the sulphur butterfly. Some cassias are more desirable than others but since sulphurs are my fave, all cassias are good. I do not know which one you have. I'm surprised yours is blooming already. Mine tend to bloom in early fall.

I thought porterweeds were supposed to be thugs, no?

i love the crinum w/ the boxwood, mixing formal w/ wild.

joeswife about your cleome, it's supposed to be a reseeding annual in my area by mine didn't come back from last year. I didn't replace, just ran out of time.
