Daily pics vol. 234

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Duc, Nanny told us about, the Robins and the grapes. I have the Bohemian Waxwing in the winter, and I'll serve them grapes as well. They love it. I also collect the Mountain Ash berries in the fall and freeze them, and offer it to them when they come.
Great contributions from everyone.
Found this swamp yesterday, and it was full of Red-winged Blackbird and Grackles.

That is cool burn!

At the same swamp, I found quite a few of the Cedar Waxwings,

It was exciting to watch, Had a few curious passerby, wondering what I was photographing. Some even stop to look at the swamp. But the more curious, were the waxwings, they came in closer to study me.

Rose your BB pictures are so pretty and clear. I love the closeup of the two babies. Nice one of the Cardinal too.
Burn great photos!! Our Robins will be here at the same time as our Cedar Waxwings and I've already written myself a reminder to put grapes out. Thanks to Nanny too! Love the Downy too! You sure have a nice variety of birds!

One of the juvie Crows is really looking much better these days.

Thanks for you nice comments everyone.
This was taken on the 4th of July. Pine Sisken eating seeds, fallen on wet leaves. The weather hasn't improved much since then either. Only had about 3 or 4 days of sunny weather. The rest was cloudy and rain. Not very pleasant for pictures.

Nice ones burn! Good to see the Sisken this time of year. We also are expecting lots of rain for the next 10 days. :-(

Outstanding shots everyone!

I don't usually get very good shots of birds probably because I'm not very light footed
as I lumber through the trees... LOL

I don't know which bird this is but I heard him from a distance at the Nursery. His/Her song sounded a bit strange amplified in some way. Well, as I finally noticed the little fellow singing his heart out I found out the reason why. Only got one shot because the camera scared him away.
Just had to share the moment with you all

Can You Hear Me Now?

Got this one sorry pic of a Swallow-tailed Kite this morning, but now that I know one is around, hopefully I'll get more opportunities.

Great pictures!
Burn those Pine Siskins are so cute.
Gardenguy, that's a huge pot or is the bird tiny? Cute!
Gardenpom, good one of the kite, hope it returns for more opportunities. Love the Grackle and the mocker. I think I finally saw a our Mockingbird yesterday with a mate.

This juvenile Oriole has such a hard time learning how to sit on the fence. It just kept slipping.

This young California Thrasher was watching the birds sitting at the bird feeder and waiting for his turn.

He picked the smallest feeder, but at least he was able to get some seeds.

That Thrasher is really neat looking w/ the curved bill duc!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Duc, that Oriole reminds of myself when I first learned how to water skii. I just couldn't keep the skiis together. lol.

T.T. so far has been among my summer residential birds, among with the cardinal, mocking birds, brown thrashers, Cardinal Wrens, Cardinal chickadees and the finches. Others has came and moved on, but these visit the grains feeder regularly.

Pelle, I was thinking about the same thing about the Ca. Thrasher's long curvy bill. Duc I've yet seen our Thrashers here go after grains/seeds. They're seen foraging for bugs and insect low to the ground mostly.

Marlton, NJ

I love this time of year when the big birds do not spend much time at the feeders. Lots of Chickadees,Titmouse, House Finch, Wrens and Goldfinch around.

Nice shot Lily!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

GP that Swallow-tailed Kite reminds me of an American Kestrel, I tried to get a pic off the other day. Everytime I tried to get a pic of it , it would fly on the other side of the power line post, I'd drive in a little closer, and he'd take off again, after many tries, this is what I got. :)

Thumbnail by burn_2007

Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed the little guy on the big pottery. The pot was about 4' tall A Big Pot
Thanks for the ID,
Resin

Melbourne, FL

I'm pretty sure I saw a Kestrel yesterday morning early also. I also caught a glimpse of a large bird out of the corner of my eye that I swear looked pinkish.....all I could think was Flamingo...but one of those wouldn't be flying over, would it? This all happened early when I was just putting bird food out, way too dark for having a camera out with me.

Scott Bar, CA(Zone 6a)

White-headed woodpecker--At long last we found these--and at two different locations. Extremely shy and difficult to photograph. Extreme range and always in the shadows. At least this is good enough for the ID. This is a first for me.

This is an accidental shot--Saw movement in the branches and got one click in. This was the result! Varied Thrush???

Rockminer, congrats on the whiteheaded WP, I've never seen one before. And nice quick draw on that last pix.

Then I spotted a female Juvie cardinal working its way to the feeder soon there after. :-)

I think the White-headed Woodpecker photo is a first for DG. It's been on my "want" list for some time, but I'm on the wrong side of the Cascades. Congratulations on that seldom seen WP!
