Yep, I knew I was going to kick myself. I almost thought you were in the same boat, Celeste, until I realized you were giving me the answer. Then I laughed real hard.
What have you ordered for 2009 - Part 9
Oh DH suffers from Chronic CRS. He ask for a list to go to the Market. Ten minutes after he keaves the phone rings, DH forgot the note at home. YUP, CCRS. lol
Hee hee!
Are there any bearded lady iris??
Dnut, where did you order the irises from?
I ordered dwarf iris for the first time this year---I loved Jo Ann's, & she ordered from Snowy Peak. They had a nice selection, but that was way back when....
of course there are, Victor, the best being 'Lady Friend'.
I was thinking the same thing Iris! I have that one and it instantly came to mind.
There is a group buy of amaryllis going on in the Classifieds by bleek if you are interested.
my wife took me out of an early b-day present today - we went to bonsai west here in acton. ma - wanted to come home with a bonsai ukigumo - they only ones available were $150 and $175 - to much $$ for my first bonsai - ended up with a nice little juniper - and spoke with the owner about bonsai jm's - does not really sound to hard - have two little jm's in containers buried in the ground that will be bonsai'd next year!! this could be the start of something:)
...start of something small?? Hee hee - good luck and have fun. As I have said, I have been playing with pruning a few seedlings in the ground to keep them small - I call it quasi-bonsai.
nice guys... pretty smart
just recieved in a coop order of bearded iris - now where to plant them???
Does anyone use these as fillers planting 4 or 5 in a mixed bed? thinking i will need to do this or build another iris only bed which i do not want to do.
flowerjen these iris are from a lady in Manitoba who sells/trades her divisions.
I have iris in all my perennial beds, plus one bed of primarilly iris---they make good companions in a bed.
I like them in mixed beds too.
Bill, you can put them in a mixed bed as long as the sun can reach the rhizomes. I am assuming that these are tall bearded irises, so they could be along the edge of an area of taller plants, or behind shorter plants. Just be sure that they have at least a half day of sun, but more sun is better.
thanks for all the input - into mixed beds they will go.
I mix them in as well.
uh oh. IrisMA the sun just has to reach the rhizomes in the early spring, right? The rhizomes can be shaded by other plants once they get going as long as the foliage is in sun until they bloom, right? (O bother if not cuz I had a fabby plan for one spot that may have just bit the dust big time)
Rhizomes should really have the sun all the time. They do bloom from increases which need sun to mature. I bit of shade once in awhile won't hurt, but not much. For irises in part shady places look into I.cristata which is a beadless N. Am species..
Very cute, Bill!
Cool, Bill.
Pretty hibiscus Robin. I can see why you couldn't pass up such a good deal.
Bill that is a nice little juniper. The rocks seem to go beautifully.
Thanks IrisMA. I hadn't heard of iris cristata before. It will be perfect for me.
The plant is very short--won't remind you of the taller bearded iris.
I'm going to put them in the front of a part shade border so short is good ^_^
Thanks, Pat----I saw a purplish-gray one in Logee's catalog that might have to be liberated.
love it Bill!
Nice hibiscus, Marilyn!
Bill, I love your new bonsai. Congrats on the newly beginning addiction! LOL!
