wow 40's already???... not here yet
What have you ordered for 2009 - Part 9
I checked the long range forcast
http://www.farmersalmanac.com/weather/USA-Northeastern-weather
I looked at the two week temps... lows in the 50's thank god.. but I better get my butt moving I guess
Didn't we just put stuff out? WOW! it went fast.
It sure did go fast, esp since we never had June.
White Flower Farm catalog arrived today. They have a set of double or frilled daffodils which I would not touch. They look messy.
wow those are nice Bill
Looks great, Bill.
I just paid for my co-op order for tulips and alliums today. Thanks to all of bbrookrd' s beautiful spring pics, I ordered tulips and will try planting them in cages and see if that helps. I'll also have to protect them from Bambi. The alliums I got last year I really loved, so I got a few more.
nice!
yes i am happy with the trees thanks - now where ot plant them -
i paid for mine today to jan i went with alliums and hyachins only - will just get a few bags of daff's at hd.
Looks good, Bill! Good luck.
Celeste you had notice:) And the sale has been extended:)
thx Victor - really wanted the katsura - can't complain about a free tree though.
Nice trees, Bill
Good to hear it, Celeste.
Very healthy looking trees---& I agree with you, Iris---sometimes they make plants different, but not better. I planted 5 Spuria iris today---very heavy rhizomes.
Still have my katsura in a pot.
Jen, yes, their site must have been down when I tried looking before. Working now. Those are some very pretty irises.
Great looking trees you got there, Bill! They sure send good size ones.
Karen
thx all - i did order the biggest trees they had and paid the extra freight for them.
the katsura would have gone in a pot too victor. now i need to decide where these should go - decisions, decisions
Nice choices all. Wha I think you need to change your name to whanut re: 35 jms in one year. I just scooped 2 peonies from my bud Grow_Jo. Now I need to find somewhere sunny somewhere to put them. I see edging in my future ^_^
nice!!!
2 summers ago I got some little WM mums and they are spreading all over the place. Turns out they were grown in Pittstown NJ.
how cool
Celeste, great minds think alike, huh?
Jan that's neat!
Our Wal-mart plants are not good---the only nice thing I bought was a Finnish- bred rhodie for my son--the annuals are not well taken care of.
I had great luck with boxstore mums. Bought 6 lilac ones the first year hoping for one to winter over and all 6 did. I traded for different colours ^_^
Went to HD to look for small trellis. Didn't find any, but the poor plants were so abused it was sickening. I realize the weather has been really awful this year, but these poor plants are so neglected.
I need some of those lilac colored mums or asters I think. Very pretty color. The 'Purple Dome' aren't blooming or even close to it yet. They liked the wet half of summer but not so much the last few dry weeks.
In anticipation of the doom to occur when lifting and/or dividing irisi this year, I have ordered:
MDBs: Cinnamon Apples, Ditto, Flea Circus, Forever Violet, Jolly Joey, Pink Blink, Zipper
SBDs: Ageless, Cat's Eye, Clash, Cocoa Pink, Jazzmatazz, Puddy Tat, Tickety Boo
This is very nonsensical cuz the iris I'm lifting/dividing are TBs and siberians ^_^
ps Don't tell Carrie cuz I strayed just a teensyweensy bit from her great article about sensical fall ordering.
The little ones will give a longer bloom season when added to the TBs & siberians in the garden.
I was going to group them by kind in two new spots irisMA. Now I'm rethinking....
I hear you about the neglect of plants at most of the big stores. Too bad. I just happened to hit it right, soon after a new shipment was delivered.
Make sure you check the classified section, cuz, my understanding of the new co-op rules, means that a lot of the BIG ones are going to be through the classified area. Please correct me if I'm wrong, (which happens sometimes). :)
You can still do the groups, but they are small enough to be scattered around.
I am having problems with initials today...what are TB's, MDB's and SBD's?
TB=tall bearded iris MDB=miniature dwarf bearded iris (under 8") SDB=standard dwarf iris (8-15') TBs are over 28" tall & the irises which most people are familiar with..
Thanks...my brain just wasn't working
CRS?
lol, yep
Now, it's my turn - CRS? I just have a feeling I'm going to kick myself. :)
can't remember sh*#
