Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #113 visit with friends!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Trisha I've been missing you..bet you are tired..you've had quite a vacation..lots of physical activity..

Weather seems to be off in most of our areas...

How is Laura doing..feeling better?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, no mail today? Drats almost 2 weeks...I'm going to start crossing the border to mail my swaps...I've joined the flat envie and the fairy..going to USA on 17th so think I'll bring my envelopes/addresses with me and mail out what I can from your side of the border....hubby doing what the doctor ordered?

Lyndonville, NY

Judy, I had to laugh....I knew who you were...but I had one of them thar brain farts! It happens daily lately.

I am so glad Skittles is home. Keep him out of drafts and cover his cage at night to prevent night frights. I can't wait for pictures of Skilttles....and the wedding.

I am not having the best day. It really rained on my parade today....summer plans are not going as I want....and Betty...its not looking good. I am just very upset, and more than a bit emotional right now.

Going to go take a nap for a bit...just me and my cats...and maybe the dog, and well, I might even turn the phone off....but I know I won't because Son is at work...and I will worry....yep folks...my brain will not go on pauze or find the off switch....unplug me now!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh Betty I wish I could find a picture of him, every time I go to him I come out having fits lol! I don't think I've told you the story. When I was in my late late teens and early 20's my friends always told me that I needed to marry a dr cause their rich and never home. LOL I don't think I'm dr material but hey, sounds good to me! Anyway, I've never hung out wherever drs hang out at, wherever that is, maybe I should have. Then when I married Dave the few that I still talked to from those days said, "Hey Christine, you should be marrying someone who's rich and never home. Instead you're marring a man who's almost homeless and is always home, not for you!" Of course when they got to know Dave they all said, and still say, that we're perfectly matched because we're both nuts!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm always afraid I'm going to call someone by the wrong name!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello weveryone. I am here. I just skimmed over all the post, and I will do my best to go back and read as soon as I find the time!
Hope you all are doing well?
Bety sorry to read about Sailor! It is a very difficult decision to make!
Todd is doing better, and is allowed to go back to work next week. I am having a scope knee surgery on the 16th.

LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yuk Linda Kay, when you have scope knee surgery do you have to stay in the hospital or is it home to recoup...didn't you say that Todd also needed something done to his knee...

I missed you dear friend...glad you've dropped by..pleased Todd is returning to work..all will be well in your world again...

Drats/drats and more drats Debbie..guess you had your little talk with hubby re coming with me for a week..is it when I'm going or just that they can't do without you??? had so hoped..don't you get into any trouble with him...if you can't go with me then you'll come and visit for an extended weekend... the weather we've been having Debbie also causes one to be down in the dumps..it's grey/windy/cold and no sun for over a week...have a nap, get yourself a good book, one you can laugh reading and let's hope the evening is better for you...

Crissy you sooo make me laugh...what did grandma used to say...oh yes
'nuttier than a fruit cake'...anyone with more lovely sayings...
it's meant with endearment though Crissy!!! a nice nut..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL I am a nut, and if all of this drama doesn't end I'm going to be in the funny farm. Dave called in sick so he's here at home, I'm not happy he's not feeling good, nor am I happy he's home. I need (((Some Alone Time!!))) (anybody hearing me?) It's been 8 days since I've had any time to myself and I am dying here!

Shoot, my mom says I'm nuttier than a fruitcake all the time, she's 60, will be 61 next month :o Grandmother used to say, "Oh Horse feathers!" when something would go wrong.
I say, "Fiddlesticks!"

Betty if you get to Memphis Dave wants to come, but he won't be able to during the week. Just wanted to let you know.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You never know Crissy...I'm working on my travel plans...trying to see how I could get to see as many of you as I can and in a week to 9 days...we'll see...I'm good at organizing myself so tomorrow I'll bring my DG map of friends..put you all on it and see who is where..

Wouldn't that be something though...

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

DebbieDaisy, what is an 'enhanced' license?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Marilyn we have them here too....it is a license with special markings that we can use instead of a passport for driving between Canada and the US...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I will be in the hopsital for one day.
Go in early and be home by dinner time!

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

Oh I see, so my Class A license won't let me do that without my passport. I had never heard of them before, will go see if we are able to get anything like that here in Florida in case I ever do get to drive 'across the border' north.

Lyndonville, NY

Marilyn, with the new laws and regulations, it is just much easier to do this when he got his permit.....so he doesn't have to go through all the paperwork twice. The license in gereral was 75.00....and 30 extra to get the extended with it.
We live right near the border of Canada, and it makes for a nice day trip now and then.

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

the license alone was 75.00!!! the only thing I don't have on my license now is HazMat. Said I wasn't hauling anything anymore that I would need it for. lol,,,some buses should be required to have HazMat on the driver's license,,,the kids are so explosive. lol
But I guess unless I was in the big truck, I would need another endorsement on the license.
my license alone with all endorsements but the one cost me 105.00, but that's all endorsements. tanker, doubles, triples, combination, passenger, air brakes, and student.

Lyndonville, NY

Most of what we pay in NY State...regardless how far or close we are to the city....is taxes. We now have a road use tax....and so much other crap...that they make it impossible for anyone to do anything. We have to do registration for our vehicles every two years now also....and there is a new tax on that for road use. Its about $60 to $70 now for registration.

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

hello..

yes im still around... been really hectic in our house as the landlord decided on a total revamp of the house.. new kitchen, painting and carpet. new shower, painting outside, gutters, and all sorts.

The house has been upside down for weeks with ongoing drama with the contractors as u can imagine. we are at the tail end of it all now and have the house to put back together.

the family are well, they came down witht he swine flu and had mum and baby in hospital but they are getting there.

work is still the same with the same problems but i just have to soldier on until something changes.

my birthday is soon and not sure what i am doing.. dont really feel like celebrating but i wont say anything as i think the family may have a little something planned. wouldnt it be great if i could get together with u all for a birthday roundup or somehting?

the puppy is growing and a right terror... i need to get him clipped as his hair is so long.

belle is doing well and crawling and says a lot of things like dont and no.. and woof! lol

i finished my first quilt and will try and take a pic and post it. im very proud of it as its all hand stiched. took months but satisfying. now i can start my freindship quilt that u all sent fabric for.... im really looking forward to that but have to get the house back together first lol

On the first day, God created the dog and said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past.. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years."

The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?"

So God agreed......

On the second day, God created the monkey and said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span."

The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?"

So God agreed......

On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years."

The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?"

And God agreed again......

On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years."

But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?"

"Okay," said God. "You asked for it."

So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service.

Food for thought

If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this! If you're spiritually dead, you won't want to read it. If you're spiritually curious, there is still hope!

A church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. 'I've gone for 30 years now,' he wrote, 'and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.'

This started a real controversy in the 'Letters to the Editor' column, much to the delight of the editor.. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:

'I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work .. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!' When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Tubby those are great!
Glad you are feeling better.
Wishing you all a good night.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Laura there you are!! I've been wondering and worried about you! Wow, what a mess with your house, glad it's almost done. No wonder you haven't been here, good grief. I'm glad you're doing alright and I'm assuming you're enjoying your new renovations!

$75.00 for a license, I don't remember what California's were but they are high. I don't know anything about Betty's drive thru license so you don't have to deal with the passports. California didn't do that, as far as I know.

Tubby glad you're feeling better, hopefully you'll keep on feeling better. Love the posts, thanks!

Betty it's no biggie, I don't think he wants to do girly things, just think it would be neat if he could meet you. Like I said, IF you decide to come all the way to Memphis.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Painting class just left ..am feeling down so thought I'd drop in with a 'hi' and look who is here...

Laura, sweetie, I'm doing the happy dance seeing as you've posted...renovations are quite an undertaking..everything out of place, working with contractors, deciding on what is to be painted what..bet the place looks great...it's your winter so imagine you are not getting outside much? You must post photo's of Belle and if you can, please sent me one....is your birthday coming up a biggy???? let the kids and DH spoil you..you deserve it..

Now is the same boss working with you or did she take the promotion, was a promotion right? Not sure about there but here jobs are hard to come by..most are enduring their jobs because they are so few are far to be found...

Can you feel the hug right through that computer of yours....hugs/hugs and more hugs coming your way!

Crissy, tomorrow I'm going to do some maping..trying to figure out where I can go and how many stops...wish you all on the west coast lived closer to mid USA..lol..I'll need more coffee stops if I'm travelling alone..

Tubby, as always you gave me a chuckle..

OK, now why I'm sad and worried...

You remember a few days ago I mentioned my girlfriend was having marital problems....up for a long story????

I'm truly worried for her safety..would have given anything to have her spend the night tonight rather than go home...but she wouldn't hear of it..

You know how I ramble so you'll have to decipher some of what I'm saying, actually I'm sick to my tummy with worry...

A few months ago her hubby who is a policeman had a major breakdown..she was in the house, they hadn't been talking..he called her from his boat just offshore and said he was going to end his life..be with his father (who died about 6 months prior to that)...the police and the emergency squad came and after several hours got him back on land and in the hospital for a few days...

Wasn't more than a week he was back to work..his job entails having a 'gun'...so now we know why I'm worried...

he's been acting so strange..he called a realtor and had the house put up for sale...she didn't want to sell..he's been going to a therapist and guess he's been over the past years keeping a lot in so the therapist has been telling him to speak his mind...

He's stepfather to my friends 2 grown daughters..they were only 4 and 5 when he and my friend got together, so, he's been their only dad...the eldest now has 2 children of her own and is a single mother struggling to make ends meet...they come to town to visit maybe every 3 or 4 weeks, all of a sudden he doesn't want them visiting, the last time they visited the children who are pre school age came up in the morning to say hi to grandma and grandpa..he didn't like that, said their mom should be up with them...regardless, my friend is always up about 6am so no problem..

Will press send just incase I lose this post to cyberspace

Victoria Harbour, ON

So the next morning my friend wondered how come the children hadn't come up to jump on the bed and say goodmorning...she went downstairs and here he had made a big barracade so they couldn't come up the stairs...so odd...

He got on the tangent that when the children come to visit they should bring all their own groceries..my friends children can barely make ends meet and probably the only healthy meals they have are when they visit...

He doesn't want her children around..nope, he wants my friend close by and that's that...he told her that he was going to call both girls and let them know that they are not wanted up at the house on the lake...

My friend told him that if he ever called them and told them such things that it would be the end of their relationship..

Tonight while she was here painting her daughter called, yep, he called her, told her how he felt about their coming home to visit on the odd weekend and started the conversation with..

"Your mother said she'd leave me IF I called and told you this" imagine... my friend said that he's been so off the wall that today she's called his doctor and police services to try and see what help she can get to understand what's going on...

I asked her if she was afraid, she said 'terrified'..I asked if he had a gun at home and she said police took it when he was suicidal...and yet he gets handed a gun for work..now who is to say there is not another gun within his grasp...

She asked what she should do tonight, confront him about his calling the girls...I told her I would not do that, he's unstable and confronting him, well goodness knows what could happen...

press send...

Victoria Harbour, ON

She is one of the nicest ladies you'd ever want to meet..he is always laughing, care free, at least he leads one on to believe he is, but in the past couple of months he's totally off the wall...

I asked if she left what would he do??? she said he just lose it...

Asked if she spent the night here wouldn't it be better but she said you never know if he'd come in and get her...she's worried and I'm worried..

Told her she'd best be on MSN first thing in the morning so I know she's ok..

She's been checking up on him re e-mails and says the e-mails point to suicide tendencies...

Isn't that a fine how do you do...

Best of the day... Getting my 'junk swap' from Juanita

Worse of the day...learning about my friend and her husband

What did I learn..things sometimes are never as they seem...

Prayers please...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, sending lots of prayers for you and your friend.

Laura, how you doing? Sounds like you have been very busy, with the renovations going on!
Please take care, and we will be waiting for pictures of your quilt! Wow, done by hand, that is an accomplishment!

Good night all.

My neighbor found out her dog could hardly hear so she took him to the
veterinarian. She found that the problem was hair in his ears.
-
The veterinarian cleaned both ears and the dog could hear fine.
-
The vet then proceeded to tell the lady that if she wanted to keep this
from reoccurring she should go to the store and get some 'Nair' hair
remover and rub it in the dog's ears once a month.
-
The lady goes to the drug store and gets some 'Nair' hair remover.
-
At the register, the druggist tells her, 'If you're going to use this
under your arms don't use deodorant for a few days.'
-
The lady says: 'I'm not using it under my arms.'
-
The druggist says: 'If you're using it on your legs don't shave for a
couple of days.'
-
The lady says: 'I'm not using it on my legs either; I'm using it on my
schnauzer.'
-
The druggist says: 'Stay off your bicycle for a week.'

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty prayers for you and your friend. This sounds very serious and he really needs help. I don't know how things work there, but someone needs to talk to his doctors and his superiors...he should not be allowed to carry a gun in this mental condition......a few years ago we had a situation something like this with the Chief of Police in Tacoma 20 miles north of us...he shot and killed his wife and himself in front of their two small children in a city parking lot.

Laura waving! Sounds like you have been very busy! While I am sure the renovations were a trial I imagine it is good have all these things taken care of.

LK Waving to you too...mom had the same surgery you are going to have....it has gone ery well for her....hoping yours does also.

......please say a Prayer for my cousin Al as well, his wife called tonight and he has had a heart attack....we don't know how serious, she will call again tomorrow.

Have a good night everyone, rest well.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, tomorrow when your friends husband goes to work....as soon as he leaves that door....she needs to call his station. They need to do something themselves and put him on "watch" and in the hospital. He needs serious help. This is the same type of issues we had to deal with my SF and Mom. It got him put in the hospital for 45 days to work with him til his family screwed things up. I will be keeping this dear woman and her family in my prayers.

Also, his keeping those kids and daughters away....is his way of protecting them, that he knows he is unbalanced and doesn't want to hurt them....or them to see him this way.

I hope your able to rest.

Hugs,
Debbie

Lyndonville, NY

Cross posted ZM...prayers for your Cousin and family also.

hiya betty

nope she didnt take the promotion and is back on board playing her games only this time.. im not playing. so im thinking if i dont react to her she will get tired of it and if not, oh well, life is too short to waster energy on her right?

omg the house.. what a mess... still a lot to do and still more painting. its painted in a colour called bleached leather which is very basic but i am doing feature walls and plants to pick it up.

I have decided to hang my first quilt on the wall of my escape room as i call it when dd moves out... it will match the coffeee coloured swede look paint on the wall in there.

so here i am plodding along on a good day getting lots of hugs.

last year was the special birthday 50! didnt llike it at all and most forgot in my family so i dont think spoiling is on the list lol,

i have cut off all contact with my family ( not my children) as i have found so much more peace without their poison and rejection. it was a hard decision but one that has been most beneficial in a lot of ways. i envy happy big families but i like my sanity more lol.

still on meds and getting there, getting therapy which helps.. the downs are not so often which is good but they are still there.. and thats ok too.. thats life eh?

chat soon

YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW

The man slowly looked up. This was a woman clearly accustomed to the finer things of life. Her coat was new. She looked like she had never missed a meal in her life. His first thought was that she wanted to make fun of him, like so many others had done before.

"Leave me alone," he growled... To his amazement, the woman continued standing. She was smiling -- her even white teeth displayed in dazzling rows.

"Are you hungry?" she asked.

"No," he answered sarcastically. "I've just come from dining with the president. Now go away."

The woman's smile became even broader.

Suddenly the man felt a gentle hand under his arm. "What are you doing, lady?" the man asked angrily. "I said to leave me alone.

Just then a policeman came up. "Is there any problem, ma'am?" he asked..

"No problem here, officer," the woman answered. "I'm just trying to get this man to his feet. Will you help me?"

The officer scratched his head. "That's old Jack. He's been a fixture around here for a couple of years. What do you want with him?"

"See that cafeteria over there?" she asked. "I'm going to get him something to eat and get him out of the cold for awhile."

"Are you crazy, lady?" the homeless man resisted. "I don't want to go in there!" Then he felt strong hands grab his other arm and lift him up.
"Let me go, officer. I didn't do anything."

"This is a good deal for you, Jack," the officer answered. "Don't blow it."
Finally, and with some difficulty, the woman and the police officer got Jack into the cafeteria and sat him at a table in a remote corner. It was the middle of the morning, so most of the breakfast crowd had already left and the lunch bunch had not yet arrived.

The manager strode across the cafeteria and stood by his table. "What's going on here, officer?" he asked. "What is all this, is this man in trouble?"

"This lady brought this man in here to be fed," the policeman answered..

"Not in here!" the manager replied angrily. "Having a person like that here is bad for business."

Old Jack smiled a toothless grin. "See, lady. I told you so. Now if you'll let me go. I didn't want to come here in the first place."

The woman turned to the cafeteria manager and smiled. "Sir, are you familiar with Eddy and Associates, the banking firm down the street?"

"Of course I am," the manager answered impatiently. "They hold their weekly meetings in one of my banquet rooms."

"And do you make a goodly amount of money providing food at these weekly meetings?"

"What business is that of yours?"

I, sir, am Penelope Eddy, president and CEO of the company."

"Oh."

The woman smiled again. "I thought that might make a difference."

She glanced at the cop who was busy stifling a laugh. "Would you like to join us in a cup of coffee and a meal, officer?"

"No thanks, ma'am," the officer replied. "I'm on duty."

"Then, perhaps, a cup of coffee to go?"

"Yes, ma'am. That would be very nice."

The cafeteria manager turned on his heel. "I'll get your coffee for you right away, officer."

The officer watched him walk away. "You certainly put him in his place," he said..

"That was not my intent.... Believe it or not, I have a reason for all this."

She sat down at the table across from her amazed dinner guest. She stared at him intently.

"Jack, do you remember me?"

Old Jack searched her face with his old, rheumy eyes. "I think so -- I mean you do look familiar."

"I'm a little older perhaps," she said. "Maybe I've even filled out more than in my younger days when you worked here, and I came through that very door, cold and hungry."

"Ma'am?" the officer said questioningly. He couldn't believe that such a magnificently turned out woman could ever have been hungry.

"I was just out of college," the woman began. "I had come to the city looking for a job, but I couldn't find anything. Finally I was down to my last few cents and had been kicked out of my apartment. I walked the streets for days. It was February and I was cold and nearly starving. I saw this place and walked in on the off chance that I could get something to eat."

Jack lit up with a smile. "Now I remember," he said. "I was behind the serving counter. You came up and asked me if you could work for something to eat. I said that it was against company policy."

"I know," the woman continued. "Then you made me the biggest roast beef sandwich that I had ever seen, gave me a cup of coffee, and told me to go over to a corner table and enjoy it. I was afraid that you would get into trouble. Then, when I looked over and saw you put the price of my food in the cash register, I knew then that everything would be all right."

"So you started your own business?" Old Jack said.

"I got a job that very afternoon. I worked my way up. Eventually I started my own business that, with the help of God, prospered.." She opened her purse and pulled out a business card. "When you are finished here, I want you to pay a visit to a Mr. Lyons. He's the personnel director of my company. I'll go talk to him now and I'm certain he'll find something for you to do around the office."

She smiled. "I think he might even find the funds to give you a little advance so that you can buy some clothes and get a place to live until you get on your feet. If you ever need anything, my door is always open to you."

There were tears in the old man's eyes. "How can I ever thank you?" he asked.

"Don't thank me," the woman answered. "To God goes the glory. Thank Jesus.... He led me to you."

Outside the cafeteria, the officer and the woman paused at the entrance before going their separate ways. "Thank you for all your help, officer," she said.

"On the contrary, Ms.. Eddy," he answered. "Thank you... I saw a miracle today, something that I will never forget. And...And thank you for the coffee."

If you have missed knowing me, you have missed nothing.

If you have missed some of my emails, you might have missed a laugh.

But, if you have missed knowing my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, you have missed everything in the world.

Have a Wonderful Day. May God Bless You Always and don't forget that when you "cast your bread upon the waters," you never know how it will be returned to you. God is so big He can cover the whole world with his Love and so small He can curl up inside your heart.

When God leads you to the edge of the cliff, trust Him fully and let go.

Only 1 of 2 things will happen, either He'll catch you when you fall, or He'll teach you how to fly!

The power of one sentence! God is going to shift things around for you today and let things work in your favor.

God closes doors no man can open & God opens doors no man can close..

Have a blessed day and remember to be a blessing.

Thanks Barb I do as well..he's about 6'3" big man, what scares me also you know the type of men (women) who are the life of the party, always laughing, nothing bothers them and then you hear they've committed unspeakable crime...I'm not understanding why when he's had to be rescued from the lake and suicidal actions that they would let him continue to work on the force...nuts

ohhhh just saw her come on msn..off I go...
