If you came over to my house, you would have to move something to sit down, and then you would have all this to look at if you were facing north East.. the potatoe patch has been dug, the second umbrella is for the new peppers, tomatoes, and flowers I have planted in that spot.. they like the sun, but without that big ole tree, the baby seedlings would fry.. so I thought a shade umbrella would do the trick..my tropicals are hiding down low, and the chairs are acting as shade givers.. a girl will do what she has to do to protect her plants she wintered over ... there are new mgs up against the house there, and there is a rooting water tub on the other side of the ugly BBQ

Debra - I know you can not see me ... but let me tell you ... I am ON MY KNEES begging you for some seeds of the Kansas Native Milkweed. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6817166 I have been looking for seeds of that particular cultivar for YEARS!!! Please, please, please ...

Your Monarda are gorgeous. I've had NO luck whatsoever getting any that you sent me to grow. I give up! You can't always get what you want ... lol! So I have resigned to NOT having that plant in my garden. :-( It happens.

Your gardening style is very much like mine. And my family is also complaining. They like the tidy gardens I had several years ago when I first started gardening. Now I have a jungle. Too many bugs, bees, and butterflies for them. LOL! And too many rodents and birds! HA! I have a natural wildlife preserve in my yard now. LOL! And I'm NOT going back to the small tidy little garden of yesteryear. So there! :-)

Here is a photo of my outdoor patio table covered with plants galore! Hee, hee! I have space in my yard for them, but no bed room ... yet! Now that I am off work for a few weeks, I plan to get out and start digging! :-)

Debra - I want you to come be my neighbor! Wouldn't that be fun!!! :-)

Debra, I've enjoyed visiting your garden and love all the beautiful photos.

Becky, I too have a "cottage" garden. I plant wherever I see fit. :) My DH hates it, but oh well. I just put them in and if they don't work out, I dig them out...

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Nicole - I want you to be another neighbor to me! :-) Wouldn't that be great to have all of us living next to each other. What a blast we would have studying and swapping and growing plants! :-)

I wish I have gardening friends like you close by here.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Debra I luv your "WEEDS"... much like mine!!

I too am begging for some of your Kansas Native Milkweed seeds!! I have lots to trade...

If I had just one neighbor like any one of you guys I'd be happy!! Most I my neighbors think I am a bit "off the wall" between plants and dogs!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Yesterday was a BLAST going to see AuntB from DG, her yard is like a woodland wonderland.
I am posting from work so can't swhow pictures yet, but gave her some morning glory seeds to grow out, some from Ronnie, , Becky< Liz and some wedding bells, she has some kind of mg growing from volunteer that is red with white edge and spokes, but they were closed up and I didn't get to see them, but she sent me home with some. We went to the KU herbarium, they were closed, the phones were the wrong numbers and I think the website needs updating for the RL MCGREGOR KU herbarium, but I sent emails to all the contacts there complaining..LOL
We went to a home owned nursery out in the country, and I was in wonderland, that woman is soooo lucky to have that property and be able to have her plants, ponds, peacocks, livestock and all the beautiful things she has out there.. reminded me of when I was young and lived on a farm.. I took my little Albevinia since it was about to bloom, it rode in the front seat with me, it looked like it was about to pop open, .. it didn't while we were running around, when I looked at it this am it was all pinched in and I feel like i ruined it.. but there are three more buds so I will just leave it alone. ;( I will send you all the milk weeds you want.. there are four kinds here.. the red, the purple, the funny looking cup one and a white one.. I wish we all lived close to each other... we would a wild garden party make.

Debra - Oh sounds like you had a great time! I love to visit places like that, too! :-) I am curious to see what kind of vine grows from the MG seeds that AuntB gave you! Sounds very pretty!

The Milkweed that I want seeds from is the one in the photo with the large leaves. It is a bush, right? It is rare here in Florida. But I have heard that the Monarchs go wild for it! :-)

Your daylily ... is it a hybrid or a wild one? Looks a little like my beautiful Ditchlilies. Which I love, love, love ...

I look forward to seeing the photos of your adventure! :-)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Becky, the milkweeds all have big leaves, all the colours... so will just send you all the seed pods from each of them, if that will work. In order to identify the colour, I have to tag the blooms in the field, then go back, and I can do that with pleasure.. the pods I have are off the red, and the purple/green one so far. the bloom time is shortlived.. 2 weeks. Then they become fodder for the worms, and new plants pop up from the windblown seeds. ( from my observation)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

so here we are riding in the car, me and I.Lind and I. Albevenia...

the view from where Bonnie and I ate lunch was awsome.. ofcourse while she and the cook were chitter chattering, I was picking dead heads out of the barrells and stashing them into my pockets..

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

driving down a country road the back way to Lawrence, I had Bonnie "Stop!" , back up and let me out so I could climb into the ditch to take this picture... ( I am sure she was thinking I was nutz.. That's just a Bindweed she says.. :D

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

We had such a wonderful time.... This is what my baby looked like when we got to Bonnies' place.. and this am she was all brown and withered.. ( just the bloom) I plucked some seed pods off of the messina creeper fence eater before I went to work also, so they wouldn't ripen and fall ..
