Caren, to get seeds from your monardas.... when they turn browinsh ( they look kinda dry and washed out) just cut them down to the next pair of leaves and they will re-bloom, take those flowers, stem and all, and tie them in a newspaper( one sheet) and hang them or lay them somewere dry.. and then when they are dry, I will tell you what to do.. your monardas will spread anyways, by root leaders.. and their seeds will spread, when u aren't looking LOL

so, I came home, changed, sprayed down with bug spray and went looking.. immediately came back in for my camera.. I missed it.. WHAAAAA!!!!!! *sniff sniff* gee not even my DH or my DD could take a picture? I ranted at them and they both said they didn't go out at all today.. how can that be? How am I even in this family? LOL

It looks like a split petal .. I have got to go find the diary I wrote when I planted these in this thimble pot from don and patty, that did have the sugar cane in it last winter..this was a third one .. has it opened? or is it about to? Someone has got to know..

So then I go all around the patio inspecting.. and to my delight, I found this..

Thumbnail by joeswife
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

and then I went out front while waiting for that bloom above to open.. and found this:

a better shot.. no tag ofcourse, it was in an impatien pot in under the sticky bushes

Thumbnail by joeswife
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

came across a few critters

This is just identical to the one we found a week ago, eating the lablab, this one was under an elm tree bush

then this thing which had one huge leaf of the vine I had planted at charlies', and a huge 4 o clock leaf, within a day, it had pooped about 8 balls, ate the chinesebeanhicynth completely gone stem and all.. it was GONE, and it had folded the huge 4 o clock leaf in half over it, and kinda glued himself in there it felt like, at first the leaf was soft, two days later it was very hard and almost dry.. but not all the way shut..kinda like a hmmm.. fried chery pie, the half moon ones..
so, after we all decided I had killed it, I was going to dump it outside for the birds, and the leaf was kinda still the same, but this moth was there.. quite a majic act for the family to watch as they came over and was FORCED into conversation with MOM by me showing them the catpillar and then the morphing chamber as I called it.. LOLOLOL
so my youngest daughter, critter lover, lake frog killer ..heheh... went to get it out so I could take a pciture for BeckyG to see.. and it squirted this fluid out its backside.. and.. well.. I can't stop chuckling.. cuz it was weirdly funny, and after I convinced her it was just morphing juice, LOLOLOL, she wandered out front and came back in and said she let it go..
so, soon I will have more chew holes, lost edges, zig zag looking leaves, I know I will have a moth. a snow white one. couldn't see anything with the macros .. I couldn't get a better shot than this one inside, and the next one outside, and it was a nice memory made with my soon to be 21 year old youngest daughter. I know a few other mothers who have this strange relationship with their almost grown children.. half your baby, and half you when ya gonna grow up and move out kind of person, that you successfully raised without incident except in her case an almost fatal car crash. My bionic daughter.. who loves me because I love . And after all, I have always said, "be careful of what you give out in life, because you might just get it back"

From the outside..this little critter thing was only 1.00 at the Dollar store. I got two. One for me here, and one for over at charlies.

oopsie, man I must be tired.. too bad I am not going to sleep.. I don't want to lose my momentum here.. I am making up seed bags.. I wish I had what I needed to make those cute ones that Liz sends her seeds in.. hmmm.. I need to play with that template at work. (!) Idea popped into head.

That leaf that is eaten away up there is one I found tonight.. it is a Tall Telephone Garden Pea vine. I ate all the peas I wanted .. and left the rest to dry for later .. they can eat this plant.. I don't care..
I had this open for me this evening.. lavender moonvine ...Thank you so much for having these seeds..

The smell outside rightnow is so lovely.. the nite time blooms are throwing out thier scent like crazy... I am glad I am off work tommorrow.. I can stay up and watch my flowers..

went thru my dried fresh seeds tonight, to put together a pink, fuschia, lavender, blue, purple, yellow, white, full to part sun mixture.... if you can correctly identify each flower head represented around the seed pile, you can have some. But you have to identify them at least by common name.. let's see who wants this one so I can get them ready..yes there is a morning glory family member in there..

Thumbnail by joeswife
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh look at these.. they are smelling soooo good right now, they are on the south side of my back porch, under the tall fuschia and yellow 4 o clocks which smell lovely as well, these are not in that pile up there

Thumbnail by joeswife
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

The north side has four kinds of morning glories, the lillies, some border dahlia ( lavender) , 2 b. arborea suaveleon seedlings, some salvia, some purple daiseys ( bush style) rock harlequin, and a few other things.. there is something in this shot that is in the pile up there..

What am I???? the marker washed off of the water bottle I started the seed in and it has roots coming out the bottom..
I moved it to the front trellis, into the ground , still in the bottle..
