Oh - Japanese Beetles - I think they're the culprit eating my dahlia leaves.

Anyway, HAPPY 4TH of JULY everybody!

Thanks Karen,
Betty Boop unfortunately is very prone to black spots. Your day lilies are quite beautiful.
Here is a picture of Althea Niger, similar to one posted earlier by someone else.

Nuts - funny you just posted that picture of your Gaillardia 'Fanfare'. Two hours ago I was looking at one of the internet sites and trying to debate either to order them or not.

Safe means staying put in my yard!! Yes, stay safe everyone!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thats where I'll be.
Sun and cloude today means I'll be digging and taking pictures.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice shots, again, everyone!!

The Niobe and the Althea Niger looks nice, peoniae!

Was beginning to think Karen ONLY planted DLs!! ^_^ I am starting to expand the gaillardia collection. Starting with planting seeds for Goblin, this year.

Happy 4th!! Everyone!!!

My only red, white and blue area of the garden! Wild climbing roses, penstemon digitalis and lavendula.

I'll have to correct that for next year.

Thanks, JoAnn! I have a ton to "fix" for next year .... esp. all the down time, when nothing really "wow" is blooming. Makes it look like there are only weeds in the gardens!!

I used to scatter all the tropicals from the GH in the gardens to provide interest between bloom shows, but I don't know most of my neighbors anymore (how sad is that??), so I am rather hesitant to leave things out that aren't planted in the ground. It is way different here than back when I was schooling, and knew someone in just about every house for blocks.

The views in the collage of the front yard, on the right top, look great, JoAnn! Not many (maybe three of us) on my street have flower gardens of any significance out front. Almost denude around here, if you ask me.

New shot of Mathilda Gütges. She's starting to blush with all the attention she's getting!

(I think I better buy some MirAcid, QUICK!)

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Karen, your mothers hybrids look similar to some of mine.
No names, all from seeds.

A brand new, first time blooming oddity. Relatively small flowers but lots of buds.

Another brand new first time bloomer. I like this one.
I hand pollinate my Tetraploids, not scientifically, just trying to get something different. They don't do it on their own.
