Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #112 visit with friends!

To my friends...

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making
my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.

They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful.
But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers,
or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and
compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.



I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.
So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their
hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore.
I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever,
but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day(if I feel like it).

How have you been managing Bev weather wise, is it co-operating? did a walk around in the garden before leaving this morning, going to have mega lily's but no blooms yet..think I'm a little anxious...

Betty that's very well said. I have no patience with plants blooming. In fact, I practically stand there to watch when the bud blossoms. Of course the process is a little slower than that, cause I don't have the patience to stand there longer than 5 minutes lol!

Girlfriend Rita just called, having marital problem..offered her to come and stay at my house...they have the nicest home on the lake where I had my home, said they've a For Sale on it...it's her 2nd marriage, her children (in their 30's) come to visit with their children, he's never been around children and just creates such an issue over it...this has been going off and on for the past year...she just doesn't know what to do...

Nice weekend here. I ended up sunburned...a big no-no. But was so cold, didn't even register in my brain it was happening.

What do you have planned for today?

I actually don't have anything planned this week. DS wants me to take him to look at a guitar for sale from someone on Craigs list. He has been saving his money for it. I am going to wait til DH gets home and let him handle it. Not familiar with the area it is at.

As i said this week is looking quiet so far, but next week is off the wall with appointments and family functions that are mandatory.

I went out and worked in the garden a bit this morning but it looks like it is clouding up out there.

Debbie seeing a bit of blue in the sky so maybe it's heading your way..does your son play guitar...Jeff my youngest has a collection of guitars..wish I had the money he spends on music instruments..lol..

Drats, sure wish you were busy this weekend and NOT next weekend...

Betty, Shane started wanting to play guitar last fall. For Christmas my BIL got us a great deal on a used electric guitar. Shane is self taught....and doing great from what everyone tells me as to picking up and playing. He wants to play another type guitar.

I am proud he is very musical talented, and picks up instruments rather easy. It tends to run in the boys in our family. When Carrie was about 13 she was plucking at the piano...and Shane about 6 or 7, he was playing the piano by ear and learned "heart and soul" within two hours. My Mom got him a keyboard of his own when he was about 12. He plays alto saxophone and baritone sax in school band....and the teacher said he is moving up to one of the guitar postions this fall.

I also wish it was this weekend busy and not next. Wish you could talk Mom into the following weekend...I am free! LOL

We are getting some RAIN !! Don't know if we will get enough to do any good, but it is a pleasant change.

We will miss our friend Doris.....she was just a few months short of 90....she has had congestive heart failure, a hole in her Aorta (sp)....mom took Doris and another elderly neighbor to Doris' daughters beautiful home on the bay for an afternoon Tea on Friday, they had a wonderful time....she went peacefully at home, which is what she wanted, and she was ready.

We had a great trip.....we hiked over the Ecola Headland, the same trail Lewis and Clark hiked to look at a beached Whale on Indian Beach during their stay in Oregon...

OMG Trisha that is 'picture perfect' takes your breath away..had you been there before? Now did you stay at their house?

How wonderful your mom took her out on Friday...you are so right, after living a full life, healthy and in your own home, it's almost a blessing just to close your eyes and never wake...

It is so beautiful, even if it was all uphill (1100 feet of elevation gain in the 2.5 mile hike up)...
so many beautiful sights, trees, plants and birds.....old costal observation bunkers from
WWII.......

Debbie thank you hun. I think the problems will resolve themselves once the family goes back to CA, we've been texting each other since 11:00, it's 1:45 now. Uncle Roy seems to think he knows all the answers and told us last night that we don't talk or say "I Love You" enough. Dave's trying to explain that we do the best we can with opposite hours, but since Roy has been self-employed all his life working alone with his towing business, that has made him rich by the way, he has no idea about opposite hours or anything else that has to do with a real job. Plus he's almost deaf and can't hear us talking amongst each other, and you know how it is with hard-headed people, what you don't hear doesn't exist.

Betty I think there's something in the air. I don't know, but seems that a lot of people are having marital problems at the moment. Prayers are going out to them to resolve their issues with the children. Maybe he's inferior about the kids since they're not technically his. Some people have real problems with that.

Debbie my dad can do that, just hears a song on the radio for the first time, goes in the house, picks up his guitar and plays it perfectly. He's self taught too and plays by ear, doesn't know how to read notes. I can play an array of different instruments but I have to read notes, if I remember how it's been so long.

We stayed with our friends at their Beach House....they just finished construction two years ago. (We have spent time camping in Cannon Beach in the past....Bill was Best Man at their wedding which was held on the point at the top of the Headland there at the park). Diana's family has owned the piece of property thy built on since the early fifties....a beautiful large double lot which is very rare in this beach community.....most pieces of property this size would have four or five small cabins on it....

Wow, might have been uphill but look at the view..easy part was coming down..lol...just as I looked at the tree with the branches only I'm thinking how perfect for a bottle tree...

We did a long walk South on the Beach to Haystack Rock and beyond.....it is a huge rock island where thousands of Seagulls and Pelicans nest and raise their young.....there are Puffins that roost on the back side of the island.........

I think over all we walked more than ten miles that day....I am still stiff and sore...just going to rest today...

Cedar Shakes...they will weather beautifully......
Lots of hiking and walking, no biking....there is just the coast highway going through there, not a great place to ride....Diana is an avid Bird Watcher so we had a wonderful time up in the park....so many beautiful plants....very few people.....

OMG pictures just start getting better...that rock formation almost looks like a whale with the tail sticking out behind it...

I had better start saving my pennies, can't imagine the beauty I'm missing out on..

Ohhhh look at the green growth...clover? find any 4 leaf ones...pellicans, puffins, so different from what we have here...got seagulls though

OH, we did see a few Sand Sharks also....lol !

LOL Betty! You crack me up!! He says he's rich. He's been with a woman for 10 years but not married and CA doesn't recognize common law marriage. If you don't mind yelling to talk to someone he's very nice, soft spoken, not bad to look at, can take care of himself and is just meddling through life just to make it...and tells A LOT of dirty jokes.

Now you didn't tell me he was already spoken for!

What a beautiful beach Trisha..half the fun when I visit Florida is walking the beaches to see all the beach art made in sand...some are really quite creative and professional...

Tubby those one or two are ahead of me....last time I popped a cold top was in 1979 when I met my ex....swore I would never drink a beer again! LOL

Terry, you would like him. Everyone would like him. It's not that I don't, cause I do, just him being here causes Dave to have fits for whatever reason, then you add Dave's brother to it and you have a basket case.

Roy took me out to dinner this evening, and on the way back he told me that he got a hotel room for his last night because Dave sleeps on the recliner sofa a lot and Roy feels like he's intruding, plus the second bathroom is right off the living room so a man going to the bathroom can be heard in the living room if the tv's not on, and he just feels uncomfortable (couldn't be the way Dave's behaving around him either.) I feel bad but there's nothing I can do, he's Dave's uncle and Dave is the one who asked him to stay here.

I talked to Dave this evening when me and Roy were on our way home. Of course I couldn't say anything but 'uh huh,' but I told Dave that Roy got a hotel room and explained why. Dave just pops off with this crap, "Well if he wants to take it personally then that's fine, that's his issue. I went into the bedroom yesterday to watch TV because that is MY house and I'll do whatever the h*** I want to and watch whatever I want to, Sunday is MY day to do nothing. If I want to walk around naked with him standing right there I will cause it's MY house."

Well first of all it's not his house, it's my house and my inheritance from my grandparents paid for it. Not that it matters, it's just the point.
Second, He's the one who invited Uncle Roy to stay with us. If he wants his house to himself to do whatever he wants then ((( don't ask people to stay with you ))) 'Here's Your Sign." LOL

Then Dave tells me that when he went to the dr last Wednesday to get some muscle relaxers for his back that he screwed up a month ago, the dr told him he was running a fever, and Dave still thinks he is, but refuses to go back to the dr. We're going to have a little chat about that one too, you don't just have a fever to have a fever and I don't want to be a widow yet, thank you very much.

Thanks for the rant everyone! I feel better! :)

Crissy, Dave is acting like a little child right now, a hurting child but none the less a child...sure hope his disposition changes now that everyone has gone....you must feel terrible being in the middle and to the side with the going ones, you'll need to have that drink or two lol...

Did dream all last night, feel as though I've not slept..did you ever have a dream you didn't want to dream and it's almost like you wake yourself up..then you go back to sleep and drats you are back in that dream..some say it cannot happen, but it does with me many times...subconcious I guess trying to surface..yuk/yuk

Aunt Muriel scarred the dickens out of me last night, as soon as I came home it was couch here I come, fell into a deep sleep, she yelled out after knocking and I let out a scream...she had dropped in because she had gifts at her house for me..mom had sent me a jasmin spa box of goodies and included were the 2 spoons sister Sharon had got me while in Paris and also a beautiful gold medalion..looked all over for my thin gold neck chain but couldn't find it..would have worn it today...

Well I had best have something on my tummy, get the garbage out to the roadside, it's raining again, oh well I haven't had to water much this month..usually by now there is a water ban on...then off to work I go...
