It's our Canada Day today, overcast, light mist of rain ..let's hope it clears a bit so that planned events will not be cancelled...

As for me, my hairdresser is taking Friday off so is working today so I've a perm at 9:00 a.m. thank goodness...wicked witch do will be no longer...

The ladies who paint here on a regular basis during the day when I'm at work decided to come so I'll likely get to see them for an hour or so..

I'd like to get some edging done in the front yard but will have to see how the day goes weather wise..if not, my laundry room sure could use some cleaning and I could do another 'quilt block'..

poor Greg and his family..he works sooo hard and the week he picks for Wonderland, boating, cottage is rain/rain/rain..if nothing else he might get some rest in..you think I'm always on the go..nothing compared to this man...

Liz, glad you've everything organized re holiday..you never mentioned your destination..could it be Chicago??? and which days are you off...fun planning trips...I have my 'maybe' trip planned to go to have coffee Janice and with Bev and a visit with Shar, maybe sightsee in St. Louis and then I think , wow, lot's of driving on my own... but then I always get the gitters before I start out on a long trip just me,myself and I..lol...

The not so good news this morning is about our AnnMarie..she's back in the hospital and sure could use some prayers...

Debbie I'm going to have to send out directions to our new room when we move..Dawn also gets lost...teens, this too shall pass, before you know it, she'll also be on her own and you will be wondering what to do with yourself, well perhaps NOT often..so what do you and DH have planned for his days off..relaxation?? trip to Canada...ohhh do try to get your express licence shortly...

Trisha, here you are not feeling good and you are running around for everyone again...who do you have that could come over and help you out..gardening is theraputic but is a lot of work as well...
How far from Portland are you Trisha..is it bike related? Glad your MIL is doing better...bet you are thrilled with the outcome of hard labor out in your yard.....keep posting photo's...much of my yard is still green/green but flowers are poking through..

Crissy, hope you got home yesterday without incident..they were calling for tornado watch in Ontario last night..haven't listened to the news so not sure it one hit down..one did last week in London and did damage..no loss of life thank God!

Still need my coffee, feed my furry friends and start my day off..only good thing about having the holiday mid week, when I return tomorrow I'll only have Friday left and it's a short day and it's weekend time again..

Good Morning Ya'll!! Prayers for AnnMarie, poor gal, why is she back in the hospital?

Missed the storms, left at 5 instead of 4:30 and it's a good thing, a storm hit on the interstate I drive home/to work on and there were leaves from the trees all over the place and the road was wet, so I just missed it. Uncle Roy said he was in the rental car area of the airport here, when he walked over to the rental car section he had to go outside and it was sprinkling, no wind, then the storm hit right after he got inside, he told me it was a tornado that hit the airport but nope, just straight line winds.

Oh Uncle Roy got to the house at 6:55 yesterday evening. Dave left an hour early for work and Roy got his guitar out and was playing all these songs and reciting poems he wrote. He's very talented and loves to play "You Don't Have to Call me Darlin', Darlin' " I can't stand that song, I've never liked it. I had to leave him and go next door to give Diana her birthday card and present, I ended up chatting with her for awhile and it seemed that Roy gave up on me as I told him I would be right back. When I got back I sat on the couch with him and we chatted about the facts of life for a bit and then I went to bed.

Betty, Dave tried our hairstylist, Rick, again. Dave called him to see if he was there, he was, Dave told Rick he would be there in 30 minutes, he got there 30 minutes later and Rick had gone home. What is up with that??? I don't get it.

Well I've got to get some coffee or I'm going to be sleeping on the desk, and that wouldn't be good!

The director just got here and said his son had a bunch of his baseball team parked in front of their house as his dad drove them to the game, when he got home, his dad still had the kids at the ballpark, all of the cars have hail damage and one of them is a 2 day old truck. Another has a broken windshield from the hail. Our Fiscal Officer said she followed the hailstorm half way home, it was one car length in front of her. Glad I waited to go home!

Well, news flash, my phone is definatley dead, seems the little silver dohickie came out of the phone and is unfixable! How stupid, you would that could be fixed but no, they want you to buy a new phone, grrr..I am so not pleased, don't know if I will get another phone at this time, but then Julia gets a discount on them so just maybe we can squeeze a new one in, and then the Boy of mine will be off limits to it!

The other good thing is...Finally picked up my new lenses! Never did find my frames, but the Doc is having the lenses reshaped to fit the pair I am wearing! So soon 'll be able to see even better, geesh should have done that right away, ahhh the things ya learn!

OMG, time just to rant on a tiny bit...i am so frustrated, kid thinks like I am his personal maid! So, i am fed up with his "Prince of the house" atitude and had some serious words with him! Yikes, hate having to go that way but geesh, enough is enough...LOL, he had the gall to DEMAND of me to change his doc appt, because he has football! Well first off he wasn't suppose to have football on wednesdays, thats why I made the appt. So he was at his friends house, calls me with his demand and telling me what time he was coming home! OH NO, not happening, Told him a thing or two which included get your (*&% home now!! He did, and I reiterated my frustration in a much calmer way about it, staightened him out and now were back to using some better manners, and lol, I am the Queen of this house, what I say goes as far as he is concerned, lol not to mention Doc is more important then foot ball and furthermore with out it you can't play!! So ha.

Well thanks for the rant moment...and now I got to run to that Doc appt...be back in a little while.

hi all. just wanted to let u know I'm back in hospital again. doc didn't like results of my liver n kidney function test :( I'm sittin here waiting for an ultra sound n more blood drawn now. feel like a pin cushion! but other than that just tired! if u r on facebook.....please don't post on my page about hospital. my son is now a member there n we decided not to tell him I'm in hosp. he thinks I'm at a friends. don't want to worry him and have him back in hosp too!
at least I have web on cell phone. may not post much...but can read n stay in touch. love the jokes tubby...laughter IS the best medicine...anjl

Our weekend? Portland is about two hours from here.....Bill and Alan my be doing a bike ride but this trip is to Celebrate Alan and Diana's Anniversary.....we will probably go out to their beach house in Cannon Beach as there is a big bike ride, fireworks and lots Tourist things going on our there this weekend.
It is an interesting story....about 33 years ago Alan and a friend were doing a bike tour up the west coast. They ruined a wheel just west of town and had come in the shop to see about getting it rebuilt.....we invited them to stay at our house while the parts were collected and Bill built them a new wheel (Not to brag but Bill is still one of the Premier builders of hand built, tied and soldered bicycle wheels on the west coast). Bill and Alan became close friends, more like brothers.....we have gone through a lot together.

Noah came to say hi to the girls painting..it's been awhile since they've seen him..Kyle drops over often but Noah not normally when they are here...

Isn't it interesting Trisha how we meet friends..I let a young couple just married, both teachers, travelling the world for a year before settling down, came from Europe..still to this day and that's 18 years ago I get cards from them letting me know how they are doing and photo's of their family...

Started my pill treatments Monday..The one pill is known to cause drowsiness..So they sugested I take it at supper time...Ya right I finally fell asleep around 1 AM..Woke up at 3 AM...I take them at breakfast now...Nothing new for me..Pain type pills that cause drowsiness in everyone else made me hyper...DUH
Dr said he never had a patient like me in 30 + years...LOL

We KNOW how unique you are Tubby but he's just finding out!!!!!

Uncle Roy is 67 years old.

That's the second time he's done that to Dave, and we've been going to him for 2 years now. I haven't had my hair done in a while so I haven't attempted to make an appointment. Not only is he saying he's going to be there and he's not, we have to drive 30 minutes into town to get to him, when there's a closer town the opposite direction! I showed Dave a barber shop right on the side of the freeway on his way to work.

Realized after the last post that I forgot to pick up onions for the stew I'm making so ran out the door..omg no car...starting to fret..then remembered that when I got home there was 7 cars in my yard and I couldn't find a spot so parked at the variety store...thank goodness I remembered, could you imagine me calling the police for theft of a car...that would be me...lol

Tubby, when I was at the hairdresser this morning (Judith is a friend who lives on same bay as I did) she was saying her hubby started 1st radiation treatment yesterday..they kept their doctor in Orangeville when they moved here about 15 years ago..anyway, Dr. told Rick that there is a new pill he's recommending to him from homeopathy drugist..says they've had great results for after regular treatment, seems to create a cancer resistent barrier for those fighting cancer so it doesn't return somewhere else..he swears by it..so as soon as Rick finished radiation, he'll go on this pill...and yes 'tubby' you ARE one of a kind!

Judy you keep making sure you don't give in with the children, once they know THEY can be the boss, you've lost it...think they just try to push/push and see how far they can get...

Liz you are just soooo wound up, do hope your plans come together and you are not disappointed...

Put the machine on for homemade bread, can't have stew and not the hot bread..met a friend at the IGA when I went for onions, they had a fruit loaf on sale 1/2 price..told her nope, didn't want one, then why did I walk out with one, here I'm the only one for supper..best I take one slice and freeze the rest...

A Child's View of Thunderstorms


A little girl walked to and from school daily.

Though the weather that morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to school.
As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with lightning.

The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school. She also feared the electrical storm might harm her child.

Full of concern, the mother got into her car and quickly drove along the route to her child's school.
As she did, she saw her little girl walking along.

At each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look up, and smile.

More lighting followed quickly and with each, the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile.

When the mother drove up beside the child, she lowered the window and called, "What are you doing?"
The child answered, "I am trying to look pretty because God keeps taking my picture."

How are you doing Tubby? Norm says Howdy too....Sounds like you are keeping really busy. Norm's back to mowing the greens again. It's good for him to get out but I sure wish a job would open up. This unemployment situation is a drag.....

Barb, did you get to go out with Jean or is that in a few days? No parcel today..drats I was hoping...kind of anxious to see if you LIKE...know you will..don't we all go through that when we're in swaps... Hope Norm doesn't overdo... the news yesterday was saying that the $$$ given to help unemployment isn't working as quickly as they had hoped...praying that things change and jobs become available..not nice having to worry...

So what is Betty doing..well, stew and bread is on..I've taken one of the frames mom gave me apart and found one of my watercolors to set inside..none of the other frames I got from her are big enough for the other watercolor...could cut it down or wait and look at another garage sale or ask mom to look for other unwanted frames...lol

Then I had been at class a few weeks ago and did a 3'd daisy in a frame and didn't finish it...maybe I could work on it or maybe I could do something totally different and just SIT...

Last night I got home at 6:00 and by 7:00 I was in bed..just sooo tired...body was saying 'time to rest' not sure if it's telling me to do same today..maybe if I listen a little closer I'll hear the voice...

Recycle/recycle/recycle...now where did I hid more of my watercolors?

Am sure when mom sees this in the frame she'll want it back..lol

Betty, I’ve been a bit off recently. Nothing Serious, just being an escapist, I’ve been really stressed out. We also got cable for the first time in 8 years, so I’ve been a couch potato when Sage isn’t using it and our wireless is having issues so I can’t do internet and TV at the same time.

I think my flower seeds are getting to be plants, but I haven’t gotten around to weeding so I don’t know how much is flowers and how much is weeds. There is still a lot of work to do on it and I just haven’t been in a place where I’ve wanted to do the less fun parts of having a garden. My Pond is now 3 tier, I got some more plants and more or less kept everything alive, but that’s it.

This time at least I failed to quit smoking, I’m almost back up to where I was before, but I’m trying to cut back again. I’m not sure I’ll be able to quit until we get our finances a little more settled, but I would like to cut my smoking in at least half.

Basically, been better, been worse.

Glad Laura that you are staying within yourself is soooon to end...come join us, we love you and staying within isn't helping..we'll be here with hugs, well wishes, we'll laugh with you and cry with you....you are correct in saying that maybe now isn't the time for quitting..economy must be hurting many a family..can't wait to see some of your plants...I always have luck with seeds...you will find losing yourself in the garden mentally will help, promise it will...

Shar I have that couch set in the basement, big couch, love seat and big arm chair..take most of the family room..big soft cushions, comfy as can be...

Stew is ready and another 20 minutes and hot bread it will be...
Kyle and Noah came over to visit..had to take out the tools..when I went bike riding with them a few times I complained that my fanny hurt..seat just wasn't big enough...soooo Kyle came over and started to change my seat for a seat he and Noah brought me..said I could ride all day long and I'd be comfy..

Guess I'll be going biking..lol..just love these little gaffers to bits! Makes life worth living doesn't it..

Kyle leaves on Sunday for 2 weeks..going to Trenton, Army Base..says he'll be spending time flying in planes, hellicopters, doing training with the soldiers..he's quite excited about it...

AnnMarie, said I'd garden for you and post photo of your plant of the day..hope you enjoy..hope it brings a smile...

Mary, you are in my thoughts today..can't wait till I can read the night shift posts...

Nearing the end of my Canada Day...going to eat, bathe and just relax...that says it all!

Going to try and make mends with my niece one last time...I dunno, I just want tohave a good time with my family, so praying hard all goes well.
