I'm intrigued....I've never done a raffle at an RU, how does it work?
Invitation to Fall gathering in SW New Hampshire!
I was wondering the same thing - are you raffling a prize?
Everyone brings some garden-related item (not expensive) and it can be recycled, like a good garden book in nice shape, or even some fertilizer or pots or whatever you think someone might want. Some people even bring special plants. Everyone gets a number and you go up by number to select the raffle prize you want. I enjoyed doing it at Boojum's RU, and we each got a very nice prize. I got a Japanese Maple and a book that Harper's sister wrote, both of which I have really enjoyed. Whatever you bring should not be wrapped, so that people can peruse the choices ahead of time. So, what does everyone think????
OK, Im in! Do I bring 2 gifts as it's is Brian & I?
I think one gift is fine - we have a couple things here just in case everyone votes to do it anyway!
Based on size, I think it would be 1 1/2 for Brian, and 1/2 for you, Celeste!
LOL, Victor!
sure I am in for a raffle
Thanks for your vote, Allison. That's 4 "yes" votes so far.
Can I vote even if I'm not there? You are from FL, after all!
I'm in
Oh, Victor! Just send the kids to West Point and come on and join us. See....you know you can't stand it! If you want to send your raffle gift, of course you can vote! LOL
Thanks, Debilu! 5 votes now in favor of a raffle!
Count me in as well!
Karen and I will be in!!!!!!
Karen

Put my name on one of the sedums, Bill---glad we are meeting you & Cindy!
will do - looking forward to meeting everyone
Jumping up and down over green eyed echie!! Thank you!!!
I'd love to have Angelina sedum, if it's hardy for Maine.
Cant wait to meet you ill.
I am taking coleus cuttings as we speak.
I am getting excited for you all and looking forward to pics.
joann who is ill :) I'm feeling pretty good - you know something i don't?
hope you like it celeste - took a little work to get a hunk with good roots :) i'm hoping the other one lives for whoever gets it. angelina should be hardy there no problem, they are small, although bigger than what i received in a recent coop.
i also have some white/green sedum that gets as tall as autumn joy if anyone wants some - will probably just bring it - it will need to be trimmed when it grows as it has a tendency to flop if left to itself - flowers are light pink - i like it more for the foliage color
Great! Thanks, Everyone, for voting on the Raffle. Let's DO IT!!!
Wow, Bill......what will you bring for everyone else???? LOL Those plants all sound terrific. Seriously, I would LOVE your pink & white weigela, if you don't mind digging it!!
As for the weather for Saturday......now the forecast is saying 62 degrees and breezy, so bring something warm to throw on if necessary. We'll be in the shade by the stone wall mostly. When you arrive, just drop your plants, if you are bringing any, in the area marked for the Plant Swap near the driveway, and then walk around to the back yard if you don't see us anywhere. We'll have some hot cinnamon cider brewing at the pit, and hopefully some just-baked blueberry muffins for those who come on the early side.....IF I get my act together that morning!
Jan - we'll miss you and everyone else who can't make it!
Hide your stones, Louise!
JoAnn you are wishing people ill now? Am I safe riding with you?
Oh, Bill, looking forward to meeting you! Can't wait for Saturday. I still am not 100% positive I can come. My brother is still working on the car, and I haven't had word on when it will be ready. Was hoping it will be done by now. It's taking him longer than he expected, I guess.
Karen
Oh, Karen....fingers crossed that you will be mobile again and able to come!!! Good luck!!
Bill if you have one to spare I would love a purple balloon flower

Good Grief is right!!!! If you can take a break and just sit and visit with us, please do come, even if it's last minute! Don't worry about bringing anything!!!! Just come if you feel the need for a change of scene. Good luck with your recycling!
Come, Sheri---you need a break!
allison you can have a couple - spotted another with a little bloom late yesterday :)
sorry I showed you the freecycle Sherrie.... please come!!!!
and thank you Bill
Sherry, OMG!!!!!! Wow! Sounds like you hit the jackpot (or maybe not)! I hope you have friends who are helping out. That will take you forever in a day to haul all of that out of there. I do Freecycle off and on myself. Only picked up an offer once, but nothing like that. I've given away a lot of shrubs and dl's through that site. Even gave away a very large kousa dogwood that way this past summer.
I regret to inform everyone that Karen and I will not be able to make it to the RU. I spoke to my DB last night, and it's taking him longer than he expected to get my car done. Looks like it won't be done till Sunday now. On a positive note I'm getting it done more than $2000 cheaper than I would have at a garage. And I'm using that money I saved to purchase a 5 year, 100,000 mile extended warranty on my car, so if something similar happens it will only cost me a $100 deductible. It also includes free rental car, free towing, and free roadside assistance (well, not really free, as I'm paying for it up front).
Well, I will have the whole weekend plus Monday to get much needed work done in my gardens. I will be looking forward to seeing everyone's pics and stories from the RU!
Karen
bummer!!
BigTime Bummer!
Yup, it's a real bummer for sure, but I'm gonna make sure I make the most of my time here in the yard.
