On to the material shop in Cookstown...omg, it wasn't there, so I dropped in to an antique shop just to have a look around..such pretty things...then the salesclerk told me where they had moved to..needed to enlarge their shop...
Must be a lot of people sewing these days!
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #110 visit with friends!
Bored yet? It's coming..lol
If you are I'd stop reading about now...
Now on my way to my brother's...about 1/2 hr. from Cookstown..pull in and he says ' aren't you a bit late for your workday?' hmmmm didn't want to get him up and at it real early but it was noon, guess he got tired of waiting for me..had called he said and left 3 messages..nope hadn't been home to get them - out gallavanting..
I started to laugh, he had the entire base made and was waiting for the pickets in my trunk...
We had just started to cut and put the pickets on the piece when Bernie (DB) son Ross dropped in..so cute, last time I was there getting Bernie to help me with something he dropped it then as well...'oh/oh here's Auntie Betty' starts to laugh and cutie that he is, I get to sit, give suggestions, be in charge of brad nailing and he and Bernie would work on my project..
Shortly after Bernie was helping me do the measurements and Ross was cutting out shapes out of other lumber because we ran out of pickets...enjoyable watching the young lad work..lol
Don't know how we didn't bang our heads on the upper hoist...there sits his antique truck...it came close I don't know how many times...

Not more than a few hours at Bernie's was my corner flower bench made...won't look pretty until it's painted and filled with flowers...
But there is one problem...much/much bigger than I thought, now I need more flowers..lol
Bernie was laughing when he looked in the car and saw it filled with flowers, said I'd best go back to the nursery as what I had would be a start only...
Now I had a really big problem, wouldn't fit it my car and Bernie isn't so sure it will fit in his truck...just too funny..
So tomorrow morning early (because of the rain told him not to bring it tonight) he'll deliver it..said it wasn't in the specks that he'd have to deliver, he only promised to help me with it...ok...guess it's theirs...but after boohooing, he'll bring it to me...brothers are terrific aren't they?
Told me I had to come back tomorrow though and help him service these 2 bikes...
So now what to do, still raining, my clothing is quite damp..go home? or do the graveyard run and then go home?
What would you do????
I knew you'd say 'go do the graveyard run and be done with it...
Just to show you how much it rained, look at the road I had to drive to my grandfather's grave...put roses on it because I know my mom has difficulties with going to grave sites...
Not often have I been to my mother's parents grave..I was names after mom's mom as she passed away only months before I was born...very young, 34 yrs. of age..brain tumor..I was named after her 'Bessie Mary'
So after travelling through roads such as I have shown you I go in search (pouring rain) of the tombstone..find it only through luck..it was so covered with moss..here I had a crochet pot scrubber in the car, had forgotten to take it in the house, so I get it, walk down to that muddy road and back and start scrubbing/scrubbing the moss off the tombstone..each time water over my shoes, feet frozen..yuk...
Didn't get it all cleaned off but at lease you can see whose tombstone it belongs to..going to go back next time I'm in Midland with a metal brush and clean it off properly..

A normal person would say, 'ok, I'm drenched and cold - going home and do the other graves tomorrow when it's sunshine...' not me...heat up in the car and I'm off to Penetanguishene (town where I was raised by my grandparents)...most of my relations are burried there...
Visit with my dad for awhile..
Sure do miss him..he was quite a character...always a smile..can still remember him playing guitar and asking me to sing for him...
Find these 'graveyard' visits very taxing...each tombstone filled with memories...
My grandparents..lovely dotting caregivers..omg, what a brat I was...
They still had children at home when I was brought to them at 6 months old...young adults certainly weren't please to have a baby around...lol...today I remembered my grandfather worked at a lumber mills just down the street from our home, on the bay, they would come home for lunch at noon, if my grannie said something to me, maybe I was misbehaving, I'd run to meet him and tell him just how cruel she was to me...he'd come in and give her the what for and tell me I was his angel..I'm sure it was all a put on show but I sure felt good with someone champion my cause...
Uncle Edgar and Aunt Flora lived about 4 houses down the road...back then family lived really close..Aunt Flora just as Aunt Alida, both died of lupus...
I treasured them as well...their son lives in Windsor, about 5 hrs. away...just across the border from Detroit...sooo had to pay my respects as well...
Ok, one more graveyard to visit...Waubaushene..that's where my 'sweetie' is buried...
Graveyard built on a hill so at least I didn't have to worry about mud/mud and more mud...
A little story about this tombstone...
Roger passed away just minutes before midnight on New Years Day...same day as our son's birthday...we all stood there while they tried to revive him..Greg kept crying and saying 'it's my birthday-he's died on my birthday' so I asked the specialist because it was now a few moments after midnight and he now had gone to be with the Lord, could they please put death as being Jan.2 for my son..guess one minute or two either way isn't the end of the world...although his tombstone says Jan. 2...Greg always says my dad died on my birthday, which he did...it was odd..when we returned up north during that night, the clock in the dining room had stopped just seconds before midnight...and also there was a fern that Roger loved, came from my grandmother, and it was so large it filled almost the front of a patio door...it was dead...
to the right of Roger's tombstone is his father, left roses there, and to the right of his father's tombstone is Uncle Marcel..he lived at the back of our home on the lake, I love him dearly..roses on his grave as well...
wiping a tear here..sorry, I'm sure non of you are much interested in viewing tombstones, but with the rain, Greg away for the day, Jeff (who called about an hour ago) knows what mom gets into on Mothers Day and Fathers Day called to say 'hi' thinking about you... so feel you are almost like family and thought I'd share this 'graveyard' visit...
What did I do for me...
well I did hang , in the rain, the planter of flowers I bought...
OMG it sure does fill my frame...
Now that we've spent the day together, are you cold, damp and wet? Time to go warm up...
Off to make myself something to eat, feet up, good book and will be back later...
What an amazing day Betty.....wish I could do the same but all of my relatives except my Father are all in Oklahoma.....
Have a good evening.
Betty, thank you for sharing that with me. It was a wonderful trip to be with you on, especially today.
The flowers are all so beautiful, wise choices.
Hugs,
Debbie
Well, here is funny one for you. While my MIL was in hospital with her knee surgery my SIL went home to Eastern Washington to check on things.... The big Frog water fountain on the edge of her pond had fallen into the pond and there was a slightly smaller one in there also....she went to get them out....the Smaller one was alive! She has a large Bullfrog making its residence in her pond....at least now she knows where all of her little ten cent feeder goldfish have been disappearing to!
So far no rain today...just 60 and cloudy.....tomorrow is the first day of summer, time for the warm to come back!
Should be an interesting evening at Church tonight.....last week was our Interim Pastor's last service......the Associate Pastor is supposed to be out of town for a couple of weeks, the New Senior Pastor is not supposed to be here until July...so we are curious as to who will be conducting services tonight.....
Hope everyone has a good ...
Wow Betty! sounds like you are the one who should be taking it easy!!
And to think I was sooo worn out just shopping for a bit today! Thanks so much for taking me on your day trip :o) feel like I need a nap now lol!
Took the step kids shopping today to get dad a few gifts and I guess that zapped all my energy! Of course we had to walk from one end of the mall to the other...several times! before we found all the items we wanted! now I'm back on the couch, vitamin water on ice....feet are up, and DH & DSD are off to video store to get movies... I was too tired to go and too tired to care what we watch lolol!
DD brought DGS by to show me his new hair cut.... I dont like it! :o( makes him look so old lolol! He's still my lil cutie tho!
Morning, it's NOT raining, still very damp but the weatherman says it will be a sunshine day, we'll see...
Tubby, happy father's day to you..for all others give your DH's a hug from us who will have a day thinking of Father's Days gone by, dreaming of what might have been..these type of days bring all those emotions back...but it's so nice to see families get together and celebrate Dad's Day!!!!
I'm just having coffee, forgot to listen to my message machine so just did so, wouldn't you know only minutes after my leaving Cathy called about 3 times .. wanting to join me for the day..oh well, you sleep in, you lose...then DB Bernie called a few times, telling me about the progress he was making with my planter, I know how to time things right..lol..got there an half done...
Fell asleep early last night after getting cozy and warming up and this morning I'm slow moving..have my material out to make a July quilt swap block while I wait for the sunshine, see because of the animals in/out yesterday in rain and mud all the floors need done so might as well get that chore accomplished then I can play..should call Bernie and get him up, need that planter to paint..no, won't do that, I'll be patient, after all it is Fathers Day..
He's adorable AnnMarie, you are right, once they have that 1st haircut they change from being babies into grown ups..sad isn't it..should you have been walking that much? Know you have to do something but perhaps that's a little more than you should be doing just out of the hospital..
Trisha, omg that's too cute..did she jump? luckily she didn't fall in...lol...I'm so hoping that today will be a sunshine day and you'll get that pond set in the ground...
Debbie, what do you have planned for the day with DH and the children?
K..got to go wash floors...my favorite thing to do...hohum
Be back on a break, hope I can share in your day..
Tubby, you are up early..guess you are getting ready for the big day..hugs to you 'sweetie'...
I was going to sing to our LIZ, but it would be off key! Not a good sound, so Liz, enjoy your day with family..how's your sister doing, driving you bonkers? bet you are having a great time and more to come today...
Isn't it your actual anniversary today Trisha?? Hoping the best for you as well...so much to celebrate..
Nothing planned for today..Went to DD&DSIL Sheree & JJ for 6 yr old GDS birthday party.Hayden
Maybe out for dinner with DS & DBIL
Oh trust me you all can be thankful that you couldn't hear me sing happy birthday for Liz...LOL
Betty you had yourself a full day yesterday...And such a con artists...
"Oh my it wont fit in my car"
LOL...you have me pegged 'Tubby' Bernie just delivered it, wasn't joking, he's got a cab top over the truck and it barely fit in on an angle...told me to get dressed, was still in p.j.'s, don't know if I should dress for winter/spring or summer..it is summer as of 1:30 or so this morning...think the hardware store opens at 10 need paint so it's either wait till 10 or go to Home Depot..most likely that's what I'll do...
Do your children live close by 'Tubby'..makes if difficult doesn't it when they are a 'dad' and their family want to do something for them..where to go/where to go...
Must give my boys a call and wish them Happy Fathers Day..felt bad, Bernie is going through a rough time and he says his boys don't do a thing...
Mary, so unlike you not to be on the night shift...hope all is well..LindaKay how is Todd?
Shar/Mary, reading the Shack, half way through it ..
Happy Birthday Liz! Happy Anniversary Trisha. And a very Happy Fathers Day Tubby!
Betty, no plans...he is NOT my father! haha, wish it worked that way! NOT
Shane actually got up and made him breakfast, fried taters, eggs & Kieshka (pig snout gross). Shannon gave him an Armor-All kit for the car/bike and some treats. Older two will probably be over some time. I have "picnic" fixings for the grill for later....that will be my contribution along with his "chocolate cashew turtles" and whoppers candy.
I also am worried about Mary....trying to remember if she said she was going somewhere or not.
Can't wait to see the bench painted and planted. What color?
Debbie
Back from town, Debbie, naughty/naughty, I always said it was a big celebration for me as he was the father of my children... or was it he who drilled it into my head...lol always a big deal, miss the young coot, couldn't say old because he was 43 when he passed on...
Spend an hour at the local Hardware Store with Deb..Brian passed away 3 weeks ago..no children..she decided that she will put the cottage up for sale, it's about 5 minutes from town..says with no children to help open and close, best thing possible for her to do...she mixed my paint, we decided it was a bit too light but after I give is wash to the white I'm doing Debbie, I'll bring it back to her and shell deepen it for yet a few more streaks...
It's starting to warm up, went for groceries and stopped at the little push wagon for sausage on a bun so need need to make lunch..ooops just remembered, groceries still in car...lol
along, with, more doors....guess I'll be changing every door in the house..have to call Bernie and see when he can get it done...
removed my overreactive remarks.

Tubby and all the Gentlemen of the families Happy Fathers Day!
Liz....the greatest gift I can give is to NOT sing Happy Birthday but will wish you the very Happiest Day Possible!!
Discovered at Church there are three of us celebrating our 40th anniversary today....
If my Dad were still with us today would have been their 64th.........
Have to get the dog out and get ready for our bike ride....hope everyone has wonderful, sunny day.....for those of you receiving excessive heat please take care.
Happy Father's Day Tubby!!!
Happy Birthday Liz!!!
Happy Anniversary Trisha!!!
I wish all 3 of you the best day you have ever had. I need to call my dad but they had a big birthday bash for him last night so I'm waiting for him to wake up LOL
Betty I used to do that in CA, every time there was something important I would go to the grave sites of my closest loved ones, clean them up, and put flowers out. I don't have anyone buried back here to visit, and my dad is 6 hours north, his birthday is Tuesday so I usually go up Father's Day weekend but I didn't make this one.
I vowed to not go outside this afternoon and work in the garden, but there was one small project I wanted to do, so here I went. It only took about 30 minutes to do it, by the time I was done I felt like I was going to pass out and gave myself a headache, should have eaten before I went out there Duh!! So now I'm in my undies sitting here with a Stoffer's Chicken Pot Pie in the microwave. I just learned that Stoffer's Pot Pies are a product of Canada! Awesome!
This heat wave has got to end, it's 91 with a real feel of 104. Good Grief! Oh oh, I've got to call my step dad. BBL
OMG Crissy, shouldn't be doing any gardening or outside project for sure in that heat..at least here even on the hotest days we likely can be outside doing something...
Sorry you missed your father's birthday this year..long drive for a weekend event..perhaps he'll have to visit with you and he can have a second birthday..
Noah came over to keep me company, then June -her birthday Tuesday, then Ann (having difficulties dealing with DH's cancer and worried about her daughter's biopsy results tomorrow for growth in her throat) so we sat and chatted, she says she always feels much calmer after leaving here...that's good...
Happy Anniversary, Trisha,
Happy Brithday Liz
Happy Father's Day Tubby
And a wonderful day for everyone.
Had old friends drop in for an hour and it was really nice to see them. Our daughter has invited us to Dad's Day Dinner so Norm is happy today. The boys are all so far away right now and it's hard to get together. Enjoy today
