Full blue now on the mopheads. Love this shade.
Garden Photos of '09 ... #28
I LOVE that color on the Prairie Princess. So soft!
Awesome mophead shot! Liking the JI close-up, a lot, too!
Carrie, it's my rose---I'm Marilyn----sat across from you at lunch---but sorry, the rose is a NOID---it looks like a tea, but it's winter hardy here. Victor, Silmakivi is just the color I'm looking for---of course, it would be nice if I had a Coppertina, also!
Nice pics, everyone!
Willie, I got a pic of a ladybug larvae at Boojum's yesterday. I need some at my place. We have been getting a lot of aphids, and more rain than normal. I hope July will be a drier month.
Meredith, love your butterfly shots.
Allison, cute teacup and saucer planters. I have seen them, too, and have been wanting them, but am short on cash. Happy belated Birthday!
Nice delphs, Bill. I got a couple white ones knocked down by the rain, but I staked them back up. So sad! Is that Blue Shadow a vibernum? Gorgeous!
Love the Asiatic lily 'Corrida'. Beautiful!
That variegated sport on your spirea is nice, Shelly! Yes, do try air layering. Try cuttings, too. I found a variegated plant while weeding a couple weeks ago. Looks like golden rod. I'm keeping an eye on it. Might be a potential new golden rod to introduce. I think the Tomato Soup echi with the blue-purple trad is a good combo. We have been getting so much rain and cloudy days here I feel like I'm living in Oregon!
Victor, your NOID JI is gorgeous! I also love your Prairie Princess rose and the blue lacecap and mophead hydrangeas.
Karen
Here's a pic of a ladybug larvae from Boojum's yesterday.
Great Shots everyone!
Victor I am so jealous of your Asiatic Lily! It is the perfect color for my new garden that I want coral flowers that bloom right now. Please Please tell me you know what it is? Great Beetle shots btw.
Thanks Karen : ) Nice ladybug larvae, I am so glad they are good guys!
I'll try to find out, Meredith. I know it's from Brent & Becky.
Thank you so much! : )
Victor, LOVE the Silmakivi in Coppertina combo.
Loving all the blooms.
LOOK! My greatest find of the decade!
We had a break with the rain this afternoon. So I went to one of the biggest nurseries in NJ hoping they might have some newer varieties of Echinacea. Well, they didn't. But this is what I found.
$49.99 for this fountain. I have to look at the sign 3 times. At first I thought it was just the pump or something. But then it says "regular price - $229.99. I ask why so cheap, they said they got 2 truckloads of fountains and they want to get rid of them fast. So I bought one and went home in a hurry. By the time I got home it started raining again but I was so excited to set it up and plant something around it. My neighbor across the street thought I was crazy because I was watering the newly transferred plants with a garden hose in the rain. By the time I got done - it stopped raining again and I was already soaked.
Anyway, to all those who live in NJ especially central Jersey, it's BROCK Garden World. They have locations both in Colts Neck and Freehold. I got this one from the Colts Neck location. It's a traffic light north of Delicious Orchard if you are familiar with that place too.
They have fountains on sale (in-store stock only) ranging from $49.99 to around $200 depending on how much the regular price was.
WOW what a great bargain!!!
Yeah, Jen! I couldn't believe it myself. I was looking at 3 different kinds for about an hour debating on which one to get. The other 2 were like $60 and $80. But I like the nostalgic design of the one I bought.
I would run out and get one but hubby always asks " do we need it??
So sorry MARILYN, at least I didn't call you Robin, though! I'm horrible with names and faces and throwing in DG names just makes it harder.
I know how you feel Jen, but I just can't pass on a great bargain.
We could have went out for dinner and I'm sure $50 would not be enough just for one night.
Buying this fountain for $50 - we could enjoy it for a long, long time. You know what I mean?
So tonight, we had left-over pasta and home-made garlic bread for dinner. LOL!
Victor love all the hydrangeas
thank you Karen
love the fountain Tex.. and a great deal!!
Meredith.... I love the pic of your cat and garden!
Robin... I'm glad that I'm not the only one that finds occasional surprises in the garden!
Tex.... Great fountain!
Very nice... I love poppies! I must add more to my garden at some point.
very pretty GE
thanx
Victor, great bug pics. Love the orange guys followed by the Tokajer flower. Your hydrangeas are looking great. I finally visited a well know grower here on Nantucket and was smitten. I bought 4 new ones including a Quickfire. I am a long way off for Japanese Iris. Lovely
Redchick, I will be interested to follow your odd spirea. That could be a winner. I hope I actually can get a bloom on any echinacea especially Tomato soup.
ROBINDOG, I have a nice little apricot colored digitalis up now, but yours looks bigger.
onewish1, don't tell, but I am a grackle fan.
Ge1836, great poppy. I tend to kill those as fast as I kill Echinacea
Some roses out yesterday. With 40mph wind today they will be blown away. Included are Pat Austin, Morden Sunrise, Flutterbye, Westerland, Marmalade skies and Garden Sun. My golden gals. Patti
I don't mind the grackles too bad.. other than the bullying and clearing my feeders out so darn fast... but the sparrows have been putting a huge dent in the food lately as well.... we had to ration the how much we give them the last few weeks
Some others from yesterday morning. Nor'easter going on outside now. So no pics today.
Geranium Orion is a bit messy, but a nice blue. New chines peony for me is Largo as well as a new clematis Kiri Te Kanawa. I think the dark TBI is Before the Storm but I also planted Dark Passion in that bed. Can't find the tag. Allium Moly is too cute always. I planted in many years ago in partial shade and it behaves fine there. Rose Benjamin Britten is ok, I like his music better. Lollypop is always loved. Patti
I like that before the storm!!
great as usual Patti.
Its humid and cloudy today but I got the chartruse spireas trimmed.
I'm not fond of the pink flowers on them.
Great foutain, Tex. Especially great at that price!
Very nice, ge.
