He's not even three yet. It's a certain type of birthmark that he has and the docs said it has to come off. I don't remember all the details.
Stop and visit, talk all you want #32
LOL That's a cool tree!! The headless Bigfoot.
I love keeping up with baseball but I have a real hard time watching it because it takes 3 hours for the pitcher to pitch the ball. Playing it is a whole different thing though. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who gets bored to death waiting for the ball to be pitched.
One of the gals here just had her second granddaughter born, so she calls Ms. Cheerful in to look at the pictures with her. I guess I have stressed that I don't like babies enough finally, but seeing a picture of them is a lot different than having them here bawling their eyes out.
Oh I found a roach on my kitchen counter this morning and it got away. The house is always kept clean, dishes done, we even sweep between the stove and counters, so the only thing I can think of is because we live way out in the woods and just had the outside sprayed. It was long, skinny, round on top, and long legged, not flat, so that's a little encouragement. Maybe it's the beetle kind... still nasty.
Love the pictures Celia, but I still love watching the game. I keep forgetting to look for that camera, but knowing my husband as I do, he's put it "some place safe". You know, the kind you'll never find again? Yea, that place!!
It doesn't take 3 hours to pitch the ball! LOL The whole game lasts 3 hours, unless you're in to overtime. For instance, in the bottom of the 1st inning of the game on now, D Lee hit a homer, then J Fox was up and he hit a homer. In between there were some outs. It's the top of the 2nd and the Brewers turn. I was typing, and somebody hit a home-run. So the Cubs had a huge lead, but then, one slug of the bat and they're not even, but they cut the lead in half.
Roaches lay eggs on the glue that's used to seal cardboard. They can come in that way very easily.
pep, I did a search for cancerous birthmarks. I told you I believed you, I was wondering if they were those "strawberry" birthmarks or what. It isn't though. I can't remember whose site I was at, but there's a distinct way that a doctor can tell if the babies birthmark is that kind, and obviously the gf doctors know. I feel sad for the little boy. I understand that skin stretching is painful. Keep me/us posted on how he's doing. I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers.
I have my appointment with the Neurosurgeon tomorrow. If it's another 3 minute in and out, it'll be the last time I do an in.
He had the surgery this afternoon and he is in some pain but they said he did great in the surgery. I still can't remember what they called the birthmark that he has. lol. That's gonna bug me now. He has it all removed in a month or two. That's when he will be in pain. Makes me shudder to think about it.
I would probably enjoy a Cubs game or a Yankee game since they know how to play. Royals games? Would much rather watch the people. The people are more entertaining than a team that can't play like the major leauge players they are.
Here is a pic of a moth on a coneflower. Took it with my new camera. I was 3-4 feet away from this little guy.
I guess it depends on how much they need to stretch the skin? I watch too much Discovery and the surgeries they do...lol Being he's 3, that's better than an older child or a younger one. But at 3, hopefully he won't remember the pain. Hopefully they have good drugs, or a good topical that works well for any pain he's going to have with the surgery.
Hey, I'd go to a Cardinal vs Cub game. Especially since Mark DeRosa is with the Cards now. My dream. We drive past Busch stadium on the way to AR all the time. It's not like we don't know where it is! I'm not sure which "A" team it is in Peoria. It's in the Cubs franchise though. The manager is Ryne Sandberg, former Cubs player. There was talk that maybe Aramis Ramirez, a Cub that's been on the DL for a looong time, might be there playing this week-end. Now that would be cool!!!
That's another thing missing in my prairie. All my coneflowers. I had the pale purple, the really neat yellow ones...have you seen those? Echinacea paradoxa is the Latin name. Tick me off.....
Terry, I will see if I have coneflower seeds in my stash. If not I will get seeds of my plants.
Celia, that one is gonna be neat looking!! I have 4 Hot Lavas coming from the co-op. Can't wait to get them planted.
Got some pics of the fireworks last night at Powell Gardens. Will post them later today. Worked the popcorn stand and from about 7 or so and on we had a huge line of people waiting for popcorn. We popped til about 9:30pm when we ran out of corn. Then sat there and watched the fireworks. A little while later I had to help get the stands inside because it was starting to sprinkle and lightning was everywhere. Got them in just in time. And I finally managed to get back home just before midnight and didn't wake up this morning til almost 11am. LOL
The name of the coneflower is tomato soup? If it is, how odd!!
pep, what the heck is a "hot lava"? Very strange also.
I thought our fireworks were rained out. Everyone in this house thought that. It was still raining at 7pm and if you're not at the park at least by then, you're never going to find a place to park! Imagine our surprise when we heard those boomer ones going off around 8. Then again a little later, then about 9:15, you could hear them all going off. Unfortunately, we too far from the park. You know, when you're there, it seems as if they're so high in the sky, but they aren't really. Another thing I thought was a little odd about having them, were puddles and mud all over the place. Most people bring blankets and throw them out and sit on those to watch. If the ground is wet, you can't. I have a feeling they weren't the most successful fireworks we've ever put on.
Here's a good one. Remember our stove died a few months back and we bought a new one? So yesterday I was baking french fries, and they weren't quite done yet. 2 pieces of tenderloin and a chicken strip (at the Moose Club with my parents and my grandma) were left-over from the night before, and I was cooking those in the toaster oven. I thought the tenderloins and chicken were done, but they were wimpy (not a high enough temp), so I put them on the cookie sheet. We're standing there, just talking, and all of a sudden the stove makes this pop/crack noise and orange and blue fire comes out the far left vent in the door!!! Of course blowing the breaker with it. What the heck is going on here?? Have a ghost that doesn't want me to cook? A ghost trying to tell me something? For some reason we're buying worthless stoves?? They're Maytag's, which I thought were back to being considered good? This is getting really old.
I had my doctor (the Neurosurgeon) appointment on Fri. Thank goodness it's the last one. I really don't like him. You're trying to tell him something and he makes a really inappropriate joke. For instance how our family doctor isn't doing much to figure out what the heck is wrong with me. And how you've got his attention for 2 minutes, he's waning at 3 and he's out the door at 4. This guy says "sounds just like me!!" and he's laughing. Did he see us laughing? Man I wanted to smack him upside the head. Idiot. I can't take much more of the way my hands hurt like they do in the night. Last night, aside from the knuckles feeling as if someone was continually smashing them with a sledgehammer, it felt like a gun had gone off in the middle of my palm. Ice did nothing. After awhile all the pain gives me such a headache. Sitting here, with my feet down, I can actually feel them swelling up into balloons.
Hey! Who knows how to do take something off that I didn't put on here? Real Player, a beta version? wants to get installed on here. I keep getting this "message center" on the far right bottom. Pretty sure Real Player is on here, but why do I need a beta version? I keep x'ing out this "message center", but it comes baaack....☺
If you watch a lot of things like YouTube, they run on RealPlayer, without it you can't see those videos, and I think some of them run on a beta version. I have the beta version on this computer here at work and can see a lot of videos I can't at home, but it takes so darn long to download them at home I usually don't watch. Lately I haven't been watching anything anyway, I'm too busy yacking with everyone!
Hi, Crissy!!!
Terry, I think something's trying to tell you not to cook anymore. ^_^
Hi Celia!!
I learned something new about my brother's GF's little boy. The mark on his chest is a mole, not a birthmark like we thought. Balloon went in sucessfully and he will have it filled up at least once a week for 6-8 wks then it comes out along with the mole. And he's 22 mths old. I messed up on his age. lol.
Terry, Tomato Soup is a hybrid cultivar of coneflowers. So is Hot Lava. I couldn't find Hot Lava on TNN bu there are several others listed in the new for 2009 list.

Hi Crissy!!
Ya, but I but don't want the beta version, that's the problem. I don't go to you tube much. I can get it on the TiVo and it doesn't put all the spyware stuff on the computer. At least Webroot says it's spyware. I don't know nothing☺
Celia, I'm beginning to wonder!!
Maybe it's a good ghost that knows something I don't. I know there was a fire in the back part of the house. It doesn't appear to have been downstairs though. You can definitely tell it in the back part of the attic. It's a gas stove, so the electric is just a regular outlet. You don't need the bigger outlet, the one I can never remember what it is. 240V? The funny thing is that they had a wall oven here. The 3 prong of the oven was plugged into one of those 2 prong adapters and then plugged into an extension cord and plugged into a regular old outlet. The non-grounded kind of course. Then again also is that I've never had a wall oven. Can you get one that's gas or does it have to be electric? If it's electric, then wouldn't it still have to be the honking kind of outlet that I know wasn't here? There wasn't any gas up in the kitchen either, I'm sure of that. I need to call Brian, my electrician and get him over here to take a look. Ease my mind if nothing else.
I called HD today to set something up for a repair or replace. THEY DON'T DO IT UNTIL AFTER THE 1 YEAR WARRANTY IS UP!!! I couldn't believe my ears. I had to call Maytag personally! How weird is that? Or maybe it's me, because the place here in town would have sent their repair guy over, fixed it and sent it in to Maytag. I wouldn't have had to do a thing. You know, I really hate it when they want something like a serial number and a model number☺ I don't know, they knew my name and address and all that, why didn't they know the other numbers? I had one lady who answered and I told her everything. She then passes me off to a lady who'd make the appointment to fix it. I had to repeat everything to her. Why do they do that? It was funny going thru that automatic part at the beginning. The lady machine is asking all these questions and she gets to what kind of appliance I'm calling about. I didn't know if I should say stove or range or what. I call it a stove. So I said stove, she didn't understand. So I said range...it says that on our paper. She says range hood, is that correct? No....and I was laughing so hard I couldn't spit my no out!! Oh and that machine lady asked for the numbers too, now that I think about it. So anyway, they're coming on Wed. I'm just betting that they can't fix it in one visit. She also told me the name of the company and I've never heard of them before. I asked her where they were out of and she told me IL....LOL
Mac and Cheese....LOL
Isn't that a cool name? LOL
Oh, is there any native plants you want seeds for? I have your liatris but I might be able to get you more at Powell Gardens. Queen of the Prarie perhaps? Heck, I could send you lots of plants. The perennial gardener would love to send you some and get some outta there. LOL. Give me a list and I will give it to the gardener and we can go thru and see what we have there for you. Even dream plants. lol
I'll take seed for any native plants you can find. Don't send me a ton if you have other people to give to, just a handful or 2. Mark them all, please? Make sure they're native and NOT naturalized.
I don't have anyone to give any too so I'll just send them to you. I will get some rattlesnake master and compass plant if I can get my hands on some seeds there. We have several different varieties of coneflowers, including yellow ones. So I will see what I can get when I am volunteering out there. I will be there next week and I will enlist the help of a gardener. I will put them in little envies and mark them.
Terry LOL I guess you don't remember all the trouble I had with my Whirlpool Refrigerator.
Oh, I wanted to tell you, my mattress is a Simmons Beautyrest Classic "Rose Plush."
It's late, I'll be back on tomorrow. Night night!
Oh look at that! It does have the same coloring as tomato soup, would have never guessed from the pic yesterday.
I really like how it pops against the yellow behind it.
Yea, me too!
I don't need or want any cupplant, so don't get any of those. Compass plant is good though. No rattlesnake master either, not my kind of plant. No clematis virginiana, or common name of virgin's bower. Now listen to me! I've got a list of "I don't want 'em"..LOL Monarda fistulosa is something I'd like more of. Milkweed is another. Butterfly weed, not bush, weed. I have 2 different kinds of joepyeweed, so I'm alright there. The cardinal flower, Lobelia cardinalis, and the blue cardinal flower, Lobelia syphilitica. I really need to find my papers and see what I had and what's not there anymore. My brain isn't working the best these days☺
Celia, does that coneflower stay that color? I guess I should say if it reseeds, will the seeds be true to the parent plant or will it be one of the grandparents color. Get that? Take 2 plants and cross them however they do it which I should know since I know someone in the biz and I've been at the greenhouse he's the manager there and I stood there and listened to him go into detail about how it's done and I even did it for a couple plants.....?? Add to that my friend down in TN created (?) a plant. It's a begonia named after his grand-daughter. Of which I can't remember but of course. Kayla? I don't know. I know I can't find it up here in the annual section of any place I've gone too, so the name has flown out of my brain. So ANYWAY, that plant of yours up there is shore purdy!!
Crissy, we've never had a Simmons, I don't think☺ I was trying to remember what brand of bed it was that we gave to Phyllis for her "kids" to use when they came to visit, but I only remember the cover was blue. Besides our bed, my sister has the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. When we lived in TN and Krista and I would come up here to visit for a week or 2, we'd stay at her house. I didn't like staying at my parents house all the time because they treat me like a child. There weren't enough beds, so I bunked with her. Hers is the pillow top on both sides. It curved to my body like our bed does. I don't think it has memory foam in it though. It just cost an arm and a leg. My brother has the same brand, but I don't think his is the same style or whatever you want to call it. His wife bought it and my sister said it was something like the most expensive mattress/box spring this particular store carries. The thing that impresses me about our bed is how I can set my side to whatever number I want. John sets his side to his own number. It inflates the air bladder in there to whatever the number is. Johns number would and has given me a back-ache. We have the cordless remote, so both button things are on one remote. I had the buttons mixed up for whose side was which and set mine at his number. Ouch. John said ouch in the morning too☺ You'd think you'd feel it more than you do, but only if you blow it up high and let it down can you really feel it. Either that or we're just old..LOL Hey, remind me of the trouble you had?
The phone rang tonight and it said unavailable and I don't answer those. It was a partial message from whatever the company is that's coming tomorrow to fix the stove. We were given a block and what a block it is! From 8am till 12 noon!!! The lady had told me that time but she also said someone would call and narrow it down. Someone, not a machine.
My 4 month old refrigerator quit working, took an act of congress to get someone to come out to my house cause we live in the country, Lowes wouldn't help because they're just a selling point, other mom and pop shops wouldn't come out cause I didn't buy it from them (they didn't have the sales Lowes has) and who would think of having a lemon refrigerator? Anyway, after a year of fighting back and forth with this, they would come out, say a hose has something in it, it broke 4 months later again, called same people, they flaked, called Whirlpool again and again and again, finally got someone good to come out and they said no one will come out because Whirlpool takes forever paying their repair points for the warranty work, so no one likes working on Whirlpool, but it is still one of the best appliances made. He said the refer had a bad compressor and turned into Whirlpool that I needed a new refer, so since half of the cost for a top of the line refer was already paid, I shelled out a little money and now I have a top of the line Whirlpool Gold refer. Had it almost a year now and it's never broken once.
Ours wasn't much older than yours was! I guess I was happy that HD pointed me in the direction I had to go. I didn't think it should have been me doing it though and it shouldn't have been you! I guess that's why I've always bought from this mom and pop place here in town. I get the service. It was better before the dad died, but I still get service. Jr just doesn't want to work the hours and put the work into the store that his had always parents done. And that will be his down-fall, I'm sorry to say. It's also weird that the mom and pop stores wouldn't offer service. The fridge would be under warranty, it's all covered, so...??? Did you notice that every appliance you buy now as a 1 yr. warranty on just about everything? The compressor on your fridge though should have had a 5 yr. warranty. I think that's what the Amana downstairs was. The one that died on Christmas morning and prompted the buying of the latest model in the kitchen. But really, I hate new fridges or new stoves because factories have closed up here when they went south of the border. The stove part though, that was John's job up here and we moved to TN. The prez thought he could hire joe off the street and he could do the job like the guy up here that had been running the machine for 25 yrs. Plus he could pay him 8 bucks an hours. The majority of the plant, after it went bankrupt down there, went south of the border also. Just sad. Which reminds me, another plant here is laying off 44 people. They make those closer things on the big business doors or at home, the closer thingy on a storm door. They probably make more than that, that's just what I know of. It's one of those really hard to get into places to work. Somebody has to die in order to get in! I'm serious too! They say they aren't going anywhere, it's just business is slow. I hope so. This town will die off if a factory that big goes away! This is kind of interesting.
http://www.lcnclosers.com/about_us.asp
So anyway, our stove was fixed. It had a pinched wire in that panel where the knobs are to turn on the burners. It's gas, so they're right above the door. When the guy got here, they plugged it in and I waited for the breaker to trip and it didn't. So the guy tries to turn on a burner and it won't! I was confused. Then he took that panel off and we had melted wire! That could have been so much worse than what it was...sends shivers down my spine.
It did have a 5 year warranty, they bought me an identical fridge and I spent more and upgraded it, which is what I wanted in the first place. LOL
Appliances aren't made like they used to be, that's for sure, and selling points are just that, the manufacture put them there to sell the product, nothing more.
My 2 year old Whirlpool Duet front loading washing machine quit draining and luckly they opened a new service center in Little Rock where the service guys travel the whole state twice a week and go to any house in the state no matter how far away from city limits it is. So the guy came out and I had a nylon stuck inside the pump at the filter! LOL
That is interesting.
Terry, that's scary!
Crissy, Darrell had this great idea about putting a nylon over the end of the washer drain so the cat hairs wouldn't clog it. Yeah. That worked. We had water EVERYWHERE!!! LOL End of experiment.
LOL those frontloaders have a sensor that tells you when there's something stuck in it and it just quits working, but doesn't stop the pump from running. I got mad at Dave and told him to quit messing with it before he burns the pump out. You know, I had NO cat hair in the washer at all?? I wash her blankets in it, makes me wonder what the dryer looks like :p
We've never had a problem with hairs. Before or after "the incident".
If it works, don't touch it! LOL
Exactly! I figured there would be a bunch of cat hair in the thing, I was afraid of him opening it LOL
I don't know on this washer, but I do know on the Maytag Neptune...when I'd wash Zoey's blankets, her hair would be in the drain at the opening of the washer. I haven't paid any attention to what this one has. What the washer didn't get, was all stuck in the lint thingy of the dryer.
I haven't felt good all day. I woke up early because my left hand hurt so bad. Then I had a headache from being up so early. So I took a 3 hour nap about 10am...I don't do good naps because I don't do naps. So that only made me feel worse. I just feel "off". And my head is still pounding. sigh
With that said, I'm off to bed. Night girls...☺
I have the same problem with naps, usually feel worse after I wake up. I did almost take a nap this afternoon, dozed off when I was talking to my mom on the phone :o
Sorry, girls. I'm the Power Nap Queen. I can take two or three a day and feel great after. If it's really hot, I get a small headache but after a drink of water, I'm much better.
I had a great Sat. My DD Crystal and her friend and the friends 3 DDs came to visit Grandma CJ. When they all came in, Kassidy ran to Darrell and yelled "Hi, Grandpa Darrell!!!" and threw herself into his arms. He was so shocked, he didn't know how to react. It was hilarious. He's only 45 and to be called Grandpa Darrell was a surprise. He liked it, though.
All the girls and I went to the Living Planet Aquarium. The little ones had a blast but I forgot my camera. (☻) After that...SHOPPING!!! LOL
I always forget my camera! Why do we do that???
I'm so glad you had a great Saturday!! I don't know where my weekend went. There's a new schedule at Dave's work he got Friday, they're supposed to work Mon thru Fri 8 hours a day, Sat and Sun 10 hours a day, with 2 days off a month! I don't think it'll last because people have lives and families. Dave worked all weekend and had absolutely nothing to do at work, so basically watched the clock from 2:30pm to 1:00am, or whenever he got home. Friday night he chose to not come home after work and went to the bar instead to visit our friend. I was sitting up waiting for him to come home at 11:30pm to midnight and he drove within 3 minutes of the house to get to the bar. He has to drive right by, not out of his way at all to stop by and check, and his cell phone was dead so he couldn't call. I figure he didn't stop just in case I was up and didn't want to go out, then he wouldn't have been able to. Not Happy about that but until it becomes a habit, which hopefully it won't, I can't really do anything except at him and I don't want to be a nag.
I spent all weekend in Illinois. Alton, Jerseyville, Roohouse (sp?). One of my great aunts got married over the weekend so we were there for the wedding. Had to spend the night because it was a night time wedding and afterwards we were pretty tired and had headaches from the music being too loud and the kids popping those confetti containers. And of course popping balloons. lol. It was a 60s style hoedown with root beer floats, girls in poodle skirts-including the bride, and men in overalls or doing the James Dean look with cigs rolled up in their sleeves.. It was alot of fun. Came home yesterday and ended up in the middle of a storm and had to slow waaay down there for awhile cause we couldn't see very far.
The best part is I REMEMBERED my camera!! LOL!!!! Got a ton of pics. Printing them off for my grandma and making an album for her.
That's so nice of you, Amanda. What a fun time that seems!
