Ah, is this funny! Inspector JIM! My good laugh for the day ;-)

I love Apaches..extra pretty, Sally!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I think a girl would be a better judge of what's pink--you'd better send that strep to me if you want the best analysis!

That's what I like about this group...so scientific and sticklers for accuracy. LOL!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi everyone!

Lin... I was reading your post and admiring the photo of your episcia 'Blue Heaven'. I received cuttings of this plant from you a couple years ago! Mine just went through a flush of blooms but I didn't get a picture at that time, but I wanted you to see the plant today! I love this one, and especially right now with all her stolons... she's so symmetrical!

Thanks for sharing!

Wow--that's one happy plant! I think episcia's are not fond of me (except for Kiwi--which loves me)

South, TX

I know, it is that way with other plants too. Some plants love me and some just don't. Interesting.

(Zone 1)

Karen, your E. Blue Heaven looks awesome! Love the symmetry, you've done a great job with that one. I hate pinching and removing stolons so mine just do their own thing and look the way they want, LOL. I would have nicer looking plants if I'd pay better (any) attention to them! I keep saying I'm going to get better but never seem to attain my goals when it comes to tending plants. I love Episcia's and hopefully will have more bloom photo's to share sometime before long. I sure wish I hadn't lost all the identity tags on them. Mine all came from trades so maybe I will be able to go back through my trade list and see who sent me what and be able to get proper names on them again.

Hope everyone is staying cool ... it's miserably hot here - was still 89 degrees at 8:30 last night and today we had another mid 90 day with heat indexes making it feel even hotter. My husband is off today so we thought we'd put the boat in the water for the first time this year ... got launched and on our way but he had to turn around and head back to the docks as the engine wasn't running properly (he thinks from sitting so long.) He has been working on it all day and says it's an ignition problem so he ordered parts. He is off all of July and August so we will have plenty of time to cruise the water then.

I am loving all these beautiful bloom pic's! Y'all are just soo good at growing these Gessies!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

sorry I don't have time to read the thread right now, but I have been cutting all the flowers off of plants to let them just grow this summer. But............I need some ID help............found these flowers on a strep without a name. For some reason I thought it was a Bristol's July 4th. Is there even such a name.

jannich, awesome new camera!!!!

I went to the streptocarpus site and looked under Bristol's only.......will have to go back...........
You can really grow those kohlerias as it looks like they are growing outside. Are they?

That picture on the strep site doesn't show any yellow 'fangs' either. I think you are right.

We shall see what Jim says

Hey...nice photos, jannich. Much better than the other camera. Your kohleria Manchu is picture perfect!

Gail, I hope you get an id on that nice fantasy strep.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Hi ya Gail,Thanks! My son got me the new camera cause I was complaining the purple and blue flowers weren't coming out the right color on the other camera.LOL.Gotta love them ^_^

The kohleria are all outside for the summer and there growing like crazy.I had a old screenhouse from my camping days and there are in there out of the sun.It stays hot and humid in here and there loving it.LOL.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Thanks goldleaf,How was your dinner with your friends?

South, TX

Congrats on the new camera. Just a few years ago photography was not quite as much fun! Digital cameras are so great now and posting photos so we can all share!!! Lots of fun. I am dizzy today, I love having Dave's and my computer to keep my mind on other things!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Yay! New camera! What kind? I have trouble getting accurate blues an d purples too...so keep us updated!
(can't believe you waited so long!)

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Inspector Jim,thanks for the ID.It looks good to me. And Jan (Phoebe) I think that Rob's AV you have is very aptly named for a couple of you...LOL ^_^. (and don't think I haven't noticed Jim has carefully drawn you into his plant heisting ring)!!
Blue Heaven is so pretty!! Is it a species Episcia? Great Strep. Gail!!
Jannich, your new camera is great!! And UH OH,I just noticed in your post, you are also a member of the gang!! LOLOL. How long can I resist.......sigh.
Sally,I am sorry you are dizzy. It is also something I live with every day and it is so frustrating.Thank God for all the wonderful pictures and people here!! It makes every day a little more exciting!!

Lynn

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I am dizzy enough with my brain being mixed up (LOL), I surely wouldn't want to have to deal with really being dizzy.....sorry for you, Lynn and Sally.

When jannich said that she had gotten a Mother's Day present of a new camera, it made me remember that I haven't hung my Mother's Day present from one of my grown kids..........

The light is coming from my gro light stands in the room.
You can also tell her family is Catholic, but she knows I love the Catholic church.........was a closet Catholic for many years.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Since this a flower thread, here are a few pics..........thanks , Lynn, and she knew I would love the colors, too........

I had lost my Hotogishu but grew one from a leaf and her first bloom is trying so hard to fully open.

I bet Sherry Burtchett used July 4th as parent of Queen Jordan.

My picture with the lights on doesn't do justice to Night Edition by David Thompson. The black is so black and the purple so purple!

Thumbnail by gessiegail

This is one of David T.'s new ones I think called Lacy Snowflake........big big blooms like all of his

Thumbnail by gessiegail

I picked up Poochie in my first group of streps but never knew her name until last year.............so Brenda and I called her Strawberry Froth for a year. I never get tired of looking at her in bloom.

Your Mother's Day gift is so pretty! The streps are wonderful! I'd like to see a bouquet full of them!

Yes, being dizzy and having vertigo is absolutely horrible. I have had them for so many years. Had been better....

Medford, NJ

Gail, what gorgeous flowers!! I like your Mother's Day gift too, being a catholic myself. Born and raised, catholic school and everything, got away from it in my early adult years, but in the past several years have found myself going back.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Thank you girls. The new camera is a Nikon coolpix. It came with a little plastic writer kind of thing and my son says I can take a picture and somehow write the name of the plant on the screen so I will remember what it was? I haven't gotten that far but that will come in handy when I go to the gessie convention in a few weeks!

Beautiful streps Gail.I love Lacy Snowflake.I love your picture also.

It's going to be 96 here today with a heat index of 103 plus.No picking blueberries for this kid.I'm going to hang out on Dave's garden today ^_^

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Jan, it has been scorching here with the heat index up to 107 and 113..........today says weather warning for Taft with a temp of 93 and heat index of 105. This isn't even summer yet and we haven't had any more rain since we got our first 2" several weeks ago for the year.

Your camera sounds so cool.

Williston, ND

Back to AV's for a second . . . isn't there a list somewhere that lists the parent plants used to create a hybrid? I can't find it . . .

never mind . . . I think I found it. ^_^

Or not.

Does anyone know which AV's were used to create Playful Rainbow?

Oh Gail...I read your post. I am ready for fall already!!!!!! So much rain in other areas of Texas, not here. :(

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Sally, I can't even go outside without my glasses fogging up completely plus the heat is so intense, it is hard to breathe such humid air. I am past ready for fall and winter............
