I ordered a large amount of merchandise from the Michigan Bulb company. At best, one-fourth of the plants, bulbs, and bushes I ordered were even alive. Also, they substituted at will and so often, I lost track of what I ordered and what it was substituted for! They like to send a large order one or two pieces at a time and space the time out enough that you forget what you got and what they still are waiting to send you. Instead of refunds, I got credit towards some more of their GARBAGE plants; no thanks.

Michigan bulb refunded my money for all of the dead plants I received, except they put a stop payment on the refund check because of "closing their doors due to bankruptcy" yet they still have ads in daily newspapers to collect more $$ and send dead item or none at all.

I ordered their shade garden and their flowering shrub packages earlier this year. I received a "partial shipment" of the bulbs, but have yet to receive any shrubs. My e-mails have gone unanswered (now I can't even get to their website), as have my letters. The phone lines are always busy. Fortunately for me, I'm only out $12.99. [update] Well, will wonders never cease! After having e-mailed you, the Michigan State Dept. of Consumer Protection, and the USPS, I received my shrubs today from Michigan Bulb. Though they are not exactly what I expected, I figure I'll count myself lucky to have received anything!

I myself have ordered from this company. I must have a green thumb because everything I ordered, I planted as directed and they all grew. They even sent me more than I requested. I had no room to plant all of them so I gave some to my mom. She had no luck with the tulips, I think she just waited too long to plant them. All mine came up and were beautiful. I wanted to order some Indian Lilies from them, except their web page does not connect at all. But, I read all these bad experiences with the company and read something about bankruptcy, I am not even going to try to order anything at all. I am sorry that others had "bad luck" with MBC. I will just stick to local nurseries instead, at least I can take my poor product (if any) right to the place and I can get a full refund or new product.

Back in March 2001, I placed 2 surprise orders, at the same time, for my husband. One was from Michigan Bulb (~$95) My husband started receiving the shipment from the Michigan Bulb Co. in mid-April. The shipment arrived in excellent conditions and properly labeled. We are quite satisfied customers and look forward to future ordering!

I have made several purchases from MBC and with the exception of a couple of Lombardy Poplars, have had excellent luck. The "Wall of China" bushes I ordered are an ideal privacy fence and I have received many complements on their beauty as well. I stumbled onto your website looking for theirs as i am looking to purchase more bushes for another privacy fence. It's a shame to lose a good, cheap garden supplier.

I have been gardening with Michigan Bulb for over 10 years now. Yes once in a while you get a plant that looks very sickly on arrival, and may not make it no matter what you do, but they stick by their guarantee even 3 years later, and replace it. What does not grow to my satisfaction I send a letter and get replaced. This beats spending $5-$10 more on a nursery item that has the same chance of dying, and winding up paying for it again the next year. A whole lot of patience is required. Be sure to save your invoices helps to have the numbers handy as well as remember what you ordered, and what did not come up, or for that matter grow. My advice buy small get their free bulbs they offer occasionally and build up, I like their buy 1 get the next for a penny offer or their double for the money.

I ordered Blue Scabiosa and Pampas grass in February 2001. No reply. I hadn't gotten them by June 21st, so I wrote a letter with copies of my cancelled checks requesting a refund. I got the order just yesterday, the 23rd, and the Scabiosa was broken off by the junk mail that they stuff in the box! The pampas grass is sickly looking. It's just too dang hot to plant these things now. Our planting season begins in late April! My advice, NEVER buy from an outfit like this.

Months ago I was sent a $25 gift certificate and a letter informing me that I was one of 70 plus winners. Months ago I sent in the certificate for 24 dollars worth of pepper, tomato, and eggplants advertised in one of their fliers. I included a check for shipping and handling which was cashed. To date, I have received nothing. I tried to call customer service and get nothing but busy signals. I called a Michigan operator for a different number but was told that number was no longer listed and there was no other listing. Because it is getting rather late to plant in Iowa, I purchased the plants locally and have planted them.

I'm not very happy with my bulbs and other plants that I ordered from Michigan Bulb. First my plants arrived late. But was told I could still plant them. Well it's been over 3 weeks now since I planted them and still nothing. Half of my order still hasn't arrived. The only things that are growing are my strawberry plants. I ordered 50 plants and received 57 and I have 56 plants, growing. I don't understand why my hedges and other vines haven't been delivered. They said that its possible that I may not get them now till next year for spring planting. Well I don't think so. I told them if I didn't receive them by July 4, then I want a full refund and they said no problem, well we will see. In the mail I receive a credit certificate for 4.23 plus a 1.00 bonus. This was for one of my vines. I think this company has gone down the drain. My parents used this company 20 years ago and never had this problem.

I live in grand rapids Michigan, same city that this company is in. I ordered some bulbs from them, they came; all were rotten. I tried calling the local number could not get through. Even drove to the company, NO ONE would talk to me. Thankfully I ordered mine with my credit card so I called my card issuer explained what happened they in turn credited my account and they dealt with MBC. Take my advice: DO NOT order from them unless you don't mind throwing away your money.

I have ordered from this company for a few years now have not had any problems until now. Most of the plants and trees that I have ordered do fine but I ordered flowering dogwoods and carnations which have not done anything but die. I contacted the company for replacement on their guarantee. They sent me a replacement certificate for the two trees that died, also said a catalog will follow so I could get them. I have not received my catalog, and have tried every phone number I can find and cannot get through to the company. I have emailed them twice now with no response, beginning to wonder if their guarantee is worth the paper it was written on.

I was pretty blown away when I found this website. I thought I was the only one to get sham. Some of the flowers I order were ok, but most of the orders were not. I too had trouble finding their phone number. I also got sick and tired of the sweepstakes that kept coming. They said I too was a guaranteed $250.00 winner, but I never saw the money. So now I only order from the companies that my mom orders from and the plants and trees that she has are very good and strong. It's nice to know that I wasn't the only fool out there. I won't order from them again.

I have been ordering from them for over 25 years. Yes, some things didn't do well, but some things I have ordered from other companies, didn't do very well, either. I have a flowerbed right now that is popping up their bulbs and things all over the place. They have always replaced (very generously) any thing that I have had a problem with. They say in the catalogues that the things you get will not look like the pictures because they are dormant. What more do you actually expect?

I placed my first order with Michigan Bulb on March 23, 2001. I ordered the Patio Strawberry, Patio Blueberry, Miniature Citrus Collection (lemon, orange, and tangerine trees), Apple Tower, and Hanging Tomato plants. My purchase also made me eligible for 54 free bulbs. I received the strawberry plants and bulbs on April 6, 2001, exactly two weeks after I placed the order. Today, April 10, 2001, I received the blueberry plant and citrus trees. I am very happy with the service I have received so far. The strawberry plants have almost doubled in size in less than a week, and the rest of the plants arrived looking healthy. Am I concerned that I haven't received the apple and tomato plants yet? No. I was told by a customer service representative that it could take four to six weeks to receive everything, and after just 18 days later, I'm only waiting for two of the seven plants I ordered. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I'd have no problem ordering from them again next season.

I started ordering from MBC about 4 years ago and the orders were mostly roses. The roses I received at the beginning appeared to be dead and looked like sticks, but I planted them anyway, and I am still enjoying the roses thatthese "sticks" produce. I have lost some roses during the very hot months that were in the triple digits. When I did lose the roses, I wrote a letter and received the replacements and/or certificates fairly prompt. I may have lost a little bit on shipping and handling costs, but looking at what I originally paid for their roses and what I received in replacements or certificates, I feel is equitable. There are other plants that I ordered from MBC that didn't do well and I either received replacements or certificates. Honestly, I can't complain in these circumstances. If I were to purchase these plants through a local nursery and they died, the consumer is just basically out of the money. So, at least Michigan Bulb Company did give me my money back or replacements - to me that is fair. As long as Michigan Bulb Company is good to me on their guarantee policy, I will be a loyal customer.

I have placed several orders with Michigan Bulb company last year, hoping that the next order would be alive. I keep getting letters from them to collect payment, I refuse to pay for something that arrived in my mailbox dead and refuse to pay for it to be sent back. Last fall I figured I would give them one more chance. I ordered some tulip bulbs from them, as their prices are good. When I received the bulbs, they were hollow. I had never seen dead bulbs before but that is what I received. I don't know how to get off their mailing list. Or how to get their phone number. But I highly suggest never ordering from them.

A few years ago, I ordered a variety of bulbs. They were all very small, but they did grow. However, they were so poorly packed that several bags had opened and the bulbs (which all looked alike) were mixed together. In addition, part of the order was incorrect. I wrote them about that, and they sent me another incorrect replacement, but only for part of it. I certainly would never even think of ordering from them again.

I have ordered from Michigan Bulb Company with much regret. Out of $300.00 worth of plants I could only salvage maybe about $100.00 worth. The company had told me to be patient as they would come up but I know when plants are dead. I also did not like the fact that if I did not order every year they would not be sending a catalog. I don't think that if a company is great they need to push you to purchase every year. "YOU DO IT BECAUSE YOU GET THE BEST QUALITY AT REASONABLE PRICES!" I personally have not seen this with Michigan Bulb.

This is not the same company I dealt with late 2000. I never had any problems with a complaint - I always got credit, even when I got asubstitution for tulips and I just wanted to know the colors because I had planted my flowerbeds with color schemes in mind. They just credited me for the substitution and I kept the tulips and put them where it didn't matter what color. Now I realize the proof is in the pudding. Spring may bring me many surprises. And if I am not delighted, I shall scream indeed. I have diagrams of what I planted, where, and what color. I have all my receipts and so when things start popping up I will know what is not right. At this point I am very satisfied with MBC.

I just wanted to say that I have purchased from MBC through the mail many times in the past and I have never been dissatisfied. In fact, one year I made about a two hundred dollar purchase. The plants, shrubs and trees started to come in and I put them on our deck. We had just bought a lab puppy and had let the dog out to play. The puppy got into all of my products and destroyed them. Only two were saved and were good enough to plant. The next day, not really believing that I would get a refund, I called MBC and told them what had happened. She asked for my order number, laughed and told me some stories that she had heard, and that was it.I promptly started to get what plants that I could at that late day, I also received a full refund for the plants that were too late to send to me. I live in Alaska. I don't mind buying from MBC, and I will always buy from them. One of the two plants didn't make it over the winter, I told MBC and I got a new one the following year, with an extra one to boot. I love shopping with them, and will continue to recommend them to my family and friends.

I thought I was the only one that was scammed by MBC. Two years ago I ordered 6 of the Easter Bonnet daffodils - pretty light pink with dark pink centers. I received just plain old yellow ones. I called, was left on hold forever, toldthe Customer Service rep what the problem was and after she practically accused me of "trying to get something for nothing", she agreed to have six more Easter Bonnet daffodils shipped.Well, the bulbs arrived & were planted. I anxiously awaited Spring to see how the pinks would look with the yellows. Imagine my surprise when my Easter Bonnets turned out to be nothing more than scrawny little jonquils. My shade garden never produced, my irises never bloomed - I could go on & on. About the only bulbs that ever bloomed to my satisfaction were the "free" with purchase. Needless to say I will not be spending any more money at Michigan Bulb Company.
