I was so discussed with all the work my husband and I put into it I didn't bother to complain I figured they wouldn't honor the guarantee any way. I now by all my plants from a local Wal-Mart I know what I'm getting that way. I now have a garden I can sit in and enjoy. |

I don't think so! They were Lilliputian!) I have never ordered from Michigan Bulb since that time, and it doesn't surprise me in the least that they're in bankruptcy with such poor customer service, poor packaging and misrepresentation of products. |

I ordered some flowers this spring (May in fact) and never received them. I should have had the foresight to stop payment on the check but I just stupidly believed that it had somehow gotten lost. Well, lo and behold the check is magically cashed by the Michigan Bulb Co. December 5, 2001 and I have no merchandise to show for it!! Let me tell you, I had a few select words for this little shenanigan--but what is a poor consumer to do? Pay an attorney thousands of dollars to get back $30? Talk about your bum's rush |

Once in the ground and a daily watering they look great, have grown like a weed and have bloomed 3 or 4 times since planting. |
| Negative | Joan (32 reviews) | On Nov 29, 2001, Joan Belfield, ND (Zone 4a) wrote: I ordered fall planting bulbs from them in August. They were to be shipped mid September as per their thoughts on my optimum fall bulb planting time. I didn't hear from them again, and the first part of November when the ground was frozen, I cancelled the order. They acknowledged the cancellation, but didn't offer any explanation as to why I didn't receive them on time. I was really looking forward to the daffodils and tulips though. |

Never again will I order from them. |
| Negative | MaryC509 (1 review) | On Sep 1, 2001, MaryC509 wrote: I am sad to see them go; when I began mail ordering nursery supplies, their prices were so low it was worthwhile to learn from the plants that did and did not survive. Obviously the contests contributed to their success, when people ordered plants in order to gamble on the very unlikelihood of winning something. It was fun to get all those free bulblets and packets of wildflower seeds, and it was fun to try out inexpensive plants. But sweepstakes gimmicks and raiding benefits are doomed from the start. |
| Negative | ConnieMcLean (1 review) | On Sep 1, 2001, ConnieMcLean wrote: I ordered over $150.00 of products from Michigan Bulb this last Spring (2001) and was very, very disappointed. Not only were the plants, etc. small and unhealthy, but they were very late in getting the product to me as they had promised. They also arbitrarily substituted other products to fill my order with things I did not want! I sent back 3 products and flat-out told them I did not want and to please credit my credit card with the difference. I have not heard a word and no credit has been made to date. I just received a collection notice from Dymacol, Inc. representing Michigan Bulb. They state that I owe Michigan Bulb $10.48 and if I don't pay it will appear on my credit report. I am very angry and I will never, never use Michigan Bulb company again! |
| Negative | Mselover (1 review) | On Sep 1, 2001, Mselover wrote: I too, have ordered from MBC for years and always figured that I was at fault for the problems I had with their items. Last year I retired and placed numerous orders to landscape our mountain home. I know that I have been able to give all the time and attention to everything I have planted. I had over 2000 bulbs planted and almost everything came up. As for the other plants, some have and some have not. I did as the instructions tell you, copied all the mailing labels and marked all of the items that did not grow (have everything marked with stakes in my garden). This was June 2001. Have never had a response and just last week I tried to contact with the e-mail and could not. I have never had a replacement or refund. I guess this has been a good leaning experience. I will have to be content with enjoying the things that did grow. |

My order is doing fairly well, considering that I didn't plant them right away (late spring- early summer, actually) and this is the high dessert of central Washington state. And not to mention one of my dogs keeps trying to lay on them (even a wire cage doesn't deter him). The two variegated Hostas I ordered, are doing okay, they were small to begin with and are not growing at the same rate (both are under my huge walnut tree. The "Blue Sea Holly" are a different story; only one of three has grown. I hope to get replacements or a refund (not a credit voucher). I have been unsuccessful in contacting them through their web site. So, to the phone I will go (wish me luck). In any case, I will probably not order from Michigan Bulb again. From the previous comments, it seems that this company is not very consistent. If I am to take a loss, I am going to keep it small. |

| Positive | NancyJohnson (1 review) | On Sep 1, 2001, NancyJohnson wrote: I ordered roses and pampas grass this spring. I would like to say that I have beautiful roses and they are still blooming like mad. The free 54 bulbs that I received for ordering online have yielded some of the most beautiful flowers in the neighborhood. I am very satisfied with my order, and my reorders. When one of my grasses arrived dead they sent 6 more, when I checked my email later, I found they had also refunded my money. |

My Iris order was never received but it was paid in full. I had the promise of another delivery this fall/September. Guess it won't happen now. So sorry these things happen to established companies because of some other buying them and not knowing how to retain a business. I miss the catalogs and will enjoy any that come my way from which I can order. |
| Negative | lauraWallace (2 reviews) | On Aug 15, 2001, lauraWallace wrote: I have ordered stuff through Michigan bulb for the past 3 to 4 years, and it is always the same just junk by the time it gets here it is dead, they want to send it during the hottest part of the summer when it is around 85 to 100 degrees and putting their stuff in plastic bags. I am fighting now to get my money back on an order that was done in may and June of this year nothing survived which doesn't surprise me, but I kept giving them a try, I guess because of the cheap prices on there stuff, but like I have been told before you get what you pay for I paid for junk and that is what I got junk. |
| Negative | FredJoyceLem (1 review) | On Aug 15, 2001, FredJoyceLem wrote: Certainly wish I had known about this web site BEFORE I ordered from MBC in April. I would have found another source for my trees and shrubs. I mailed an order on 4/9, 2001, my check was cashed on 4/17. The order finally arrived on 6/20, after several phone calls, emails, etc., and THREE different stories about why it hadn't been shipped. Now 3 of the 8 Poplars, and 3 out of 4 shrubs are dead, and I have given up on getting my money back, or the plants replaced. My $47 order was admittedly small compared to some, but it was important to me. We had ordered from MBC before, and were served well. It is sad to see a once reputable company go sour. |

I had to badger them to get the plants that I did receive. I cannot reach them by telephone or e-mail. Only two of the plants I ordered survived. Most of them arrived as mushy leaves. Two plants arrived in July - the growing season is over. I cannot get any details or feed back on what happen to the last part of my order. I wish I knew about this company before today. |
| Positive | ChuckMiller (2 reviews) | On Aug 15, 2001, ChuckMiller wrote: I normally do not deal with mail order nurseries as I know that the samples are small and cost about the same as larger plants one can get locally at about the same price. Several years ago I made an exception and ordered something from Michigan Bulb. What a disaster - nearly all was rotted and mushy. However, the "free" Astilbe bulbs (I think) sat around for months before I just stuck them in the ground to see what would happen. Lo and behold, they grew into beautiful plants that we enjoyed for years. |

They cashed my check and sent a letter to inform me that the flyer items were no longer available and enclosed one of their checks for a refund---which, after depositing it in my account, it came back promptly to my bank with "stop payment" marked on it. What nerve! To cash my PERFECTLY GOOD check and send me their DISGUSTINGLY BAD check! |

EVERYTHING from Michigan Bulb is dead or didn't come up and everything from the other company is alive and kicking leaving BIG bare spots where I planted the Michigan Bulb bulbs and "live plants", as they called them. Nothing grew and after watering them twice a day, they all dried up and have now disappeared. I have contacted them on numerous occasions but have received no reply. I am a very disgruntled gardener! |

Half of my order did not arrive and those that did were pretty well gone. No matter how hard I tried to save them they did not make it. The MBC had the gall to send me an order form for a refund of one of the items that could not be mailed or I could receive a check back. Needless to say with all the phones calls and emails that I have been making for over 2 months I decided on the cash refund. Did I get a cash refund? No. I really never thought that I would. I am really disappointed. I was looking so forward to some beautiful gardens of plants this year and instead I have had to do without because MBC has cashed my check and given me very little of what I bought from them. |

This year SEVERAL plants did not come up; when I contacted them they said they would give me a "replacement certificate" and that I would have to reorder the plants that did not come up. This was several months ago. After hours of spending time trying to contact them because I never received the "replacement certificate" , I gave up and contacted the BBB in Michigan, only to find out that Michigan Bulb has filed for bankruptcy. I also found out that they promised me my replacement certificate at the same time they were filing for bankruptcy, which leads me to believe they never had any intention of replacing my plants. PLEASE do not order form Michigan Bulb! |

I ordered 23 roses (different varieties) this spring and every single one of them have not only lived but are blooming and beautiful. When you get them they look like they are nothing but stem but always have I had success if I follow there instructions. I have also ordered fruit trees, lilacs, and trumpet vines and all are alive although they did not bloom this year. With Michigan bulb you also get the plants when it's the best time to plant and it usually is staggered to make it easier to plant immediately. If Michigan Bulb does stay around it is the only mail order company I will be using after my other experiences. |

We talked to customer no service in early June 2001 and were told that a check would be put in the mail to us within 2 days. Well here it is July 29 and as I was trying to find their web page I came across the bankruptcy information. I truly hope that these people get their comeuppance. |

I've done a lot of mail ordering and I must have been lucky up until now because I have always gotten my product and I have always been satisfied if something want wrong with the order. This has been my first scam. I know I've lost my money and for someone on a very small income, a very small loss is a big loss. I wrote them 10 emails before I finally got it through my head that I was not getting anywhere. I HATE THE FACT THAT I GOT "TAKEN". I hope they have a hard time sleeping. |

| Negative | HerbTrahan (1 review) | On Jul 15, 2001, HerbTrahan wrote: I thought that my problem with Michigan Bulb was an isolated incident, but now I wish I had known about this site before I placed my orders. I placed an order for 80 hedges in April 2001 and received them in a fairly quick time frame. The Hedges were smaller than I expected, but did look healthy. I planted these and they are doing well. Because of the positive experience I had with the hedges, I placed an order for 4 white dogwood trees and 2 red dogwood trees, apear tree and a couple of mixed apple trees, this is when the trouble started.Weeks went by without any correspondence from Michigan Bulb other than my trees were on backorder (which they were not when I placed my order). I tried calling, but could never get through, I sent 3 separate emails requesting an update on my order, with no reply. I then sent an email requesting a refund and to canceleverything. I even tried canceling via their website, but they would not allow this to take place, even though they stated on their website that it could be done. A week later I received my dogwood trees (total of 6). They were very small and looked sickly. I went ahead and planted these in late June 2001. They have allsince died. Dried up with no center core, just dried twigs. I truly believe they sent dead trees to me just to shut me up. I did receive my pear tree, which didn't look much better. It's trunk was broken approximately 10 inches from the top. It is planted, but I'm having to nurse it to keep it alive. I still have yet to have my apple trees arrive and now I can't even get on their site to check for some type of status. I strongly recommend not buying anything from this company. |

Along came may and still no plants. So we told them that if we did not get our plants by June 1 we would refuse the order. On June 22 we got the plants, I refused the order. We had already been charged for them once; they have now charged us two times for the plants. We have tried e-mailing them and calling them too, we get nothing. |

The quality of the $75 worth of goods that I bought was so poor, I didn't even bother opening the last third of my order. I even sent both the collection agency and MBC a copy of the UPS tracking statement from the return, showing clearly that it arrived and was signed for at the loading dock. They also replaced many out-of-stock items with items they determined were similar. I'm still trying to figure out how someone could logically determine that if I originally wanted tulip bulbs, I'd be happy with 5 plastic plant labels instead. Call this a lesson learned. I will never again be duped by too-good-to-be-true low prices and promises. If they have an 800 number, why do they make it so hard to get? |
| Negative | JessieA (1 review) | On Jul 1, 2001, JessieA wrote: Just wanted to say that I am very dissatisfied with MBC. My husband and I ordered one of their complete gardens. We planted it in the fall as was suggested. It is now July and less than a third of the plants have come up. Of the ones that did, the creeping phlox, though alive, has barely grown. It is 3" long at most. I have been trying to call Michigan Bulb but haven't had any luck. When I email them it takes 2-4 weeks for a response. I finally did receive an email regarding a replacement certificate. I immediately wrote back asking how I go about using this certificate. I can't get through on the phone and they've suddenly stopped sending me catalogs and their website is down more often than not. Still no reply 3 weeks later. Now I learn that their parent company went bankrupt. So much for my garden. No way will I order from them again nor will I recommend them to anyone. |

I won't buy from this company again. |

In many attempts to find why they haven't gotten shipped I was always promised they are on the way. In April 2001 I called and explained that I wanted my money back. They said I ordered them last week. I said no ma'am back in August. Needless to say she was rude and hateful. I hung up and called directly back. I talked to someone else and got the answer that a refund would be in the mail. After weeks of waiting I finally received my refund, but not to my surprise MBC had stopped payment on the check. |

When I received an e-mail apology note from them saying I would receive the plants in two weeks, I e-mailed them back asking for an approximate date. They did not respond. I e-mailed them two more times to try to find out why I had not received my plants and why I kept getting a busy signal when calling the phone numbers I have for them. I still have not received a response. I would much rather have my money back then wonder when and if my package is going to arrive. |

We received 1/4 of our total order and most of that died (even after following the specific directions). I may not be the best gardener in the universe, but when someone sends me plants that are "guaranteed for life" I expect them to grow. Most recently, I had a charge of $135.00, which was way higher than the remainder of my order. Now I have to dispute their claim with my credit card company. So here I sit, at the middle of summer, with less than half a flowerless hedge, Roseless, treeless and highly upset. I did not work that hard on my yard and spend that much money (not just on plants, but also on soil, fertilizer, mulch and water) to have this happen.I'm glad for those who've had a good history with this company, but this was my first, last and ONLY order with Michigan Bulb. Happy Gardening to all of you - just not with Michigan Bulb! |

In 2000, I ordered 100 strawberry plants to set out in the spring of 2001. I live in the north part of Alabama; the plants were shipped in February! We have hard freezes in Feb. and March, and frost until April. I called them about this problem and it was decided that I would try and keep them alive until I could plant them. Everything went well until about May/June. The plants began to wilt and die. It was determined the plants had Verticillum wilt. I have tried to contact MBC for replacement but no response. |
