Question about squash seedlings

I seem to recall reading that there is something important about the first true leaf of a vining squash plant but I can't remember exactly what it is. It has something to do with the direction that the plant will eventually vine towards, but I can't remember if the first true squash leaf is pointing in the same or the opposite direction as the vine. Does anyone know? Thanks!
